We like staying at property with acreage in quiet neighborhoods and this was great for that, while being close enough to Hilo for our needs on this trip. We would stay there again.
Corinne is an excellent host and we left feeling like friends after our 10 days at the property. It was the perfect retreat to soak up the rural ambience and relax. We felt very much at home and the advice on activities and eateries were excellent. Thank you for a great stay.
She was a great host with a lot of great recommendations around Hilo! Nice and spacious bedroom, living quarters, and she has a great property as well; you will thoroughly enjoy this place if you like farm animals, and pretty vegetation!
My fiance and I spent three nights at the Mermaid Sanctuary. We found the accomodations very much to our liking, super spacious and very unique when comparing this property to a hotel or condo. Definitely more personality than the average night's stay away from home. Our hostess was very good about communicating with us if something out of the ordinary happened (the automatic gate went out of order for a brief bit). We are both fussy but we would recommend the property and intend to stay again. Thanks!
the accommodation is spacious, with the kitchen and living room area being semi-outdoors, wich is very nice, given the climate on Hawaii. The bedroom offers a direct access to the garden and the pool. Just behind the pool you'll find the entrance to the amazing farm gardens with orchards full of tropical fruit, which we were allowed to gather.
Corinne was an excellent host. She went well beyond what can be expected and offered lots of tips for eating in Hilo and activities in the area. We'd love to come back.
Corinne warmly welcomed us into her place and showed us around when we got there after dark. She had many recommendations for local restaurants and sight-seeing, which we were very appreciative of. She has a beautiful property that lies in a ârainforest likeâ antmosphere and every morning we woke up to the sounds of a variety of birds and it was so peaceful. She gave us a tour of her property, telling us about the varieties of fruit that grow behind her place and sharing some of that fruit with us as well. Corinne is very knowledgeable on the culture and history of Hawaii, as well as the unique geological features the island has to offer. Staying with Corinne felt like staying with family and she was always up for conversations about anything. She went over and beyond in making us feel welcome and took it upon herself to show us some of the hidden gems the area has to offer. We will always remember our rejuvenating experience staying at Corinneâs on our big island holiday.
What a pleasure! If our plans had been different, weâd have stayed here the entire time! Itâs just what the doctor ordered, and then some - idyllic surroundings and plenty of room, not only in our unit but also on the property. Corinne has thought of pretty much everything, including nice details like plush towels, and sheâs a very pleasant person. This North Hilo location is an easy drive to popular places, and a relatively comfortable distance to Waimea or Waikoloa. We would definitely stay here again, and can heartily recommend it to easygoing travelers who are looking for novel accommodations.
Corinne and Norman were fantastic hosts. The place was large and well appointed. We got in late and appreciated the thoughtfulness of some coffee and cream in the fridge for the next morning . The real bonus here is Corinne and Norman. They were a font of information, providing wonderful insights about the vegetation on the island as we walked around her farm site, hearing from Norman about special hidden gems that only the locals know about, and getting the low down on what it really takes to live on the island. We will stay here again and certainly recommend to friends.
A very spacious accommodation on a farm with acres of fruit trees. Warm, hospitable hosts. Scenic countryside at a bit of elevation from the coast, so there are cool breezes in the evening. There is a full kitchen with all the conveniences you could want AND an outdoor pool. Highly recommended.
Beautiful property in a superb location to explore on the Hilo side. Corinna was a wonderful host, treating us to a tour of the property, as well as fresh eggs and veggies. Sorry we weren't able to meet Norman. Maybe next time. I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else.
Corinne is a kind and helpful host with a beautiful, comfortable home. She gave us a tour of her impressive property and let us sample some of the fruits and herbs that she grows behind the house. It's clear she put lots of hard work and love into building this place!
Great place tucked away just 1.5 miles off the main hwy. This place was amazing & well kept
We enjoyed sraying with Corrine & Norman & they were great. Hosts! Had a pot of French Press coffe the first. Morning & took us a tour of the 13+ Acre estate with lush foilage & flowers, sheep, chickens & 2 cats roam freely but inside fenced area. Had the entire
Corinne was a wonderful host who went out of her way to make us feel welcome and at home. I havenât been able to eat bananas at home after tasting those that she grows on her orchard! Thank you for a fantastically peaceful and comfortable visit.
I joined Vrbo back in the day looking for this experience on Maui on the Hana side - it turns out it is on the Big Island on the Hilo side - a veritable fruit farm that could vend the garden of Eden if needed. The vibe was rain forest meets drought stricken mainlander. We swam in the pool every day and took the tour and ate the exotic fruits. We enjoyed the screened in kitchen/patio for breakfast every morning and did a load of laundry before we left. An unforgettable stay of the better part of a week.
We absolutely loved our stay with Corinne and Norm! The place was spacious, comfortable, and beautiful! We loved our tour of their farm and tried fruits we'd never had before! Corinne is a genuine and incredible soul full of kindness and knowledge! We sincerely appreciated all of her time and teaching. Norm was also so funny and we could easily see he had a heart of gold!
They were truly such amazing souls and we are grateful to have met them and of course stay at their place as well. They were indeed the best part of our stay! They certainly offer privacy if their guests would be the type to keep to themselves, however, we were eager to meet them and loved and appreciated their time and attention. We were so happy to make friends!
When visiting, be sure to check out the local farmer's market down the street on Tuesdays! The sense of community is beautiful! Be sure to remain present in the moment and take in all the beauty, wealth of knowlege, and serenity this place and these people have to offer. It's truly amazing and life changing =)
We have visited the big island many times, but never stayed on the Hamakua side before. This was the perfect place from which to explore the area. We had the entire ground floor to ourselves, including a large bedroom suite with sliding glass door access to the pool just steps outside. There was also a full kitchen stocked with everything we needed, plus a dining room, living room, laundry room...the place is huge!
Corinne and Norm were the most gracious and interesting hosts--they went out of their way to make us feel welcome and give us a personalized experience. I mentioned that we were vegans, and Corinne made us some amazing vegan chili one night! The atmosphere was so peaceful and chill, just what we needed to unwind and get into the aloha vibe. We learned a lot and got to sample many delicious fruits, nuts, honey, and much more. We can hardly wait for another visit!
-Aloha and mahalo!

Aloha, I am Corinne, born in New England and moved to Hawaii in 2010 after visiting some friends. I love sharing this beautiful property with guests. I like to hear how they are in awe when they take the tour of the land.
When I first toured the land it was as if I had entered the Garden of Eden. The setting is gorgeous, representing traditional Hawaii with ocean and mountain views. This is living the Aloha lifestyle. My neighbors are wonderful people
This home is spacious, quiet and has a secure entrance. You're able to pick fresh fruit daily and learn what each one is on the tour (when they are in season). You can dine in and relax in your full-service kitchen. Strolling the food forest here will inspire your creativity and deepen your sense of peace, relaxation and rejuvenation.
