This home has been completely restored.

If you need a vacation far from the maddening crowds and back to nature, this is almost paradise. It's the best place to walk for miles along the sandy-white beach, highly rated by Dr. Beach, on the Forgotten Coast of Florida. You can walk by the beach at our home, or just across the street is the beautiful Saint Joseph Bay where you can snorkel and explore. Did we mention that we have all the gear you need for the beach in the outdoor beach gear room down below with chairs, grill, boogie boards and more.

Dixie's Delight is a beautifully decorated 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath, dog-friendly town home located on the beachfront on North Cape San Blas. This home provides free WIFI. Watch the sun rise from the bay side bedroom balcony and then watch it set from the swing on the screened porch, or from the upper level balcony. It has fabulous views of the low density, sugar white sand beaches and the luster of the blue-green waters of the Gulf of Mexico.

The main level is one large area comprising the living room, dining area and kitchen, with views of the Gulf from anywhere in this room. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you will need including a blender, slow cooker, mixer and more. The glass doors open onto a large screened porch with a swing. There is also a half bath on this level.

All three bedrooms with brand new luxury sheets on the beds and two full sized baths are located on the upper level. The king master is located on the gulf front with a walk-out to an upper balcony. This room has a private bathroom. The second bedroom has a full bed. The third bedroom is located on the bay side of the home. This bedroom has a king sized bed and a walk-out balcony with views of the bay. An additional full bathroom is located on this level.

The house smelled really bad , dog hair everywhere , the neighbors informed me that the people that checked out before I arrived had three big golden retrievers in the house with them , very very hairy everywhere , I would go so far as to say I’d like a partial refund

The only one of two things were that the cleaners were still there at 5:00 pm so we had to wait and could not get in at the time that we were supposed to…. There was a strong cigarette smell from the balcony… ASIDE from that…. the rental itself was lovely, great bedrooms…. w

The good, the bad, the ugly.

So I want to start off by saying this one of the best beach vacations our family has ever had. We love Cape San Blas, and the Forgotten Coast. There are some issues with this place, some that little can be done about, and others that should be addressed. The Bad: This condo is directly on the shore line, not the beach. There was never any sand in front of the building while we were there. We were able to access the left side of the building only. The stairs going down to the beach were in no way safe. The sand is constantly moving under the base of the stairs, and this causes it to be questionable about which is the best way up. From what I heard while there, they’re trying to get some beach remediation to protect building from erosion. There are many buildings on the Cape that have been lost over the years to erosion, and storms, I hope they’re able to fix this issue. The condo itself is nice, the beds were comfortable, but the main level had dog hair everywhere, I didn’t notice it in the bedrooms, but it was all over the living area, and screen porch. If you are allergic to dogs I would not rent this place. We are dog people, so we didn’t let the hair ruin anything, but for others it would be a deal breaker. The rental company also had horrible communication. The only way you can get in touch with them is by calling. They never responded to a message on VRBO, or from email. The Good: The views at this place are amazing, you have 3 levels of deck in front of the house, and a balcony overlooking the bay on the other side. We enjoyed each deck, and saw so much marine life, you are so close you can hear the dolphins squeak. You are also on about a half mile of nearly private beach. There was a weber charcoal grill that we used a couple of time, and they also had about 4 beach chairs for use. Overall if the issues that I mentioned are fixed we would return in a heartbeat.

DID NOT MEET EXPECTATIONS

When we booked this property in January, there was a lot of "sandy beach" in front of the property. We visioned putting our beach chairs right in front of the condo and enjoying "beach front". A week before we left for our trip, we looked at the website and found updated photos of the property which had no beach front. Contacted VRBO who was no help (with a costly fee from VRBO you would think they would want to make us happy, plus Sandy Shoes fee). VRBO referred us to Sandy Shoes who haven't called us back. I talked to "Gordon" with my concerns. I am still waiting for "Gordon" to call me back with my concern. Attempted to cancel through our insurance we purchased but no guarantee it would be refunded. . Stove was dirty and some dog hair around. Because of the $5,000 investment, we had no alternative but to go. There was only one access to the west side of the beach. In the evening when the "tide" was low we were able to walk in front of the condo to the other side of the beach. The stairway to the beach on the west side of the property landed no where and was cautioned taped off. I have been in the customer service business a long time, and there was no customer service here.

There is NO beach. Don’t be fooled like we were.

The place, was the worst experience we’ve had. It actually even caused an injury to our 4 year old child. There is a tack sticking up out of the carpet on the stairs that sliced her foot. In the pictures, it appears there is a beach and there isn’t one. The stairs that come down along the side go to crumbled up concrete blocks that are pretty dangerous to walk on because of the waves crashing right up on to them. Nearly every plate and cup in the cabinet had food chunks/debris stuck to them. Found dried dog vomit on one of the bed sheets. Our issues were offered a solution of a small percentage back on the rental. Highly suggest finding another place.

Safety issues that cannot be ignored

Pros: Very clean, nice decor, kitchen had everything a cook could need. Nice comfortable beds, nice white towels. Beautifully decorated. As far as the condo goes they thought of everything. except Cons: I tried calling Sandy Shoes directly 5 times today no answer. I sent a email while we where there no answer. So, here we go. There is no beach in front of the condo. The ocean pounds on the retaining wall against the condo. The pictures advertised is not what it looks like today. The whole time we where there the right side of the condo steps going down to the side beach was taped off. They are to dangerous to go down. First day I was there we went down the left side. Some of the poles on the stairs that the water breaks on where no longer in the sand. It was still passable. When I stepped off I judged it wrong and fell in the sand. To big of a step down. Next day where I fell was no longer sand it was concrete and was covered by the ocean. By the last day all side steps on both sides of the condo to the beach was not assible because of the ocean. Also, the left side deck to the stairs we shaking. Now another safety issue is there is no gate to keep kids from falling in the ocean. This condo a kid could literally fall off into the ocean from the parking garage. Also, you have a flight of stairs to get into the condo and another flight of stairs to get to the bedrooms. Personally I liked it I need the exercise but, it was not noted in the listing. I’m glad my sister didn’t come because she is disabled and would not have been able to climb all the stairs.

This was the perfect place for being right on the water and a short drive to restaurants or other activities. So laid back and peaceful on Cape San Blas!

Ocean views for days

This place was perfect for our family of 4 and med/large sized dog to stay for a week. With young kids and a dog, sometimes you end up stuck inside for nap times, etc, and feel like you are missing out on beach time. Not at this place! I didn’t mind being inside at all because it is right on the ocean. You can see the ocean and hear the waves from the entire main floor and master bedroom. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
