Situé sur une route sans issue, le Yellow Dog Cottage se trouve dans une clairière ensoleillée au bord de l'océan. À l'avant se trouve une crique qui forme un réseau de bassins de marée à marée basse qui sont parfaits pour l'exploration. C'est un endroit confortable, paisible et relaxant pour passer vos vacances.

La maison a un plan d'étage ouvert avec une cheminée dans le salon qui s'ouvre sur une cuisine bien équipée avec coin repas avec tout ce dont vous aurez besoin pour vous sentir chez vous. Le porche de la cuisine a des fenêtres sur 3 côtés et une vue à 180 degrés sur l'eau et est idéal pour lire, manger, se détendre et jouer à des jeux de société.

Vous pouvez déguster des homards fraîchement pêchés livrés à notre quai par notre voisin qui homards dans la baie au large de la maison.
À l'extérieur, nous avons un barbecue à gaz, une table de pique-nique, un foyer extérieur et des chaises Adirondack au bord de l'eau. Nous avons notre propre rampe et flotteur, un amarrage en eau profonde juste en face de la maison et une rampe de mise à l'eau naturelle, qui sont tous disponibles pour votre usage.

Il y a beaucoup de kayak dans la région et vous pouvez vous installer juste en face de la maison. La région de Muscongus Bay possède certains des meilleurs kayak, voile et automobile sur la côte du Maine et n'est qu'à quelques minutes en bateau. La ville, avec ses supermarchés, cafés, stations-service, pharmacies et le célèbre Moody's Diner, est à environ 20 minutes en voiture.

This was the perfect place to unwind. The photos are a great representation of Yellow Dog Cottage. We loved the quietness of the location (early summer). It was close to town for when we needed to go. The owners are kind.

The Yellow Dog Cottage is a peaceful, relaxing rental that feels more like home. This is our second year and as expected the house was spotless and the views are amazing! Harlan the caretaker and lobsterman is always friendly and provides the most delicious bounty from the sea fresh off his boat. The neighbors are friendly and are always there with a .We highly recommend staying at the Yellow Dog Cottage.

Peaceful on the Bay

We spent 2 weeks relaxing at Yellow Dog Cottage watching the tide ebb and flow, lobster fishermen and their dog going about their days work and amazing sunsets. The house is equipped with all the conveniences and comforts of home and we felt very much at home there. Beautiful flowers were blooming in the yard. We really didn't want to leave.

Relaxing Vacation

Absolutely loved our stay at Yellow Dog Cottage. Owner of property is amazing great communication and very friendly. Loved the location very quiet, peaceful and stunning. Also the caretaker Harlan was extremely nice, is the best lobsterman!

Heaven on earth!

Lovely cottage with a great kitchen and a glorious spot to watch sunsets over the ocean with 11 foot tides adding drama to the view! I look forward to staying again! And God bless Harlan - the world’s finest lobsterman and his gorgeous dog Angel!

Yellow Dog Cottage

This property outdid our expectations. The house was immaculate and the overall ambiance was homey. The view was spectacular. Watching the wildlife and the lobster men plus the tide’s ebbing was so relaxing. Sitting outside and not hearing anything but birds was a respite from the world’s chaos. Truthfully this place is a piece of heaven.

Serene getaway

Great property with multiple spaces for hangout; plenty of room for a large family. The house is right on the water, and the beauty of the surrounding area, as well as quiet and calm cannot be matched. Quick responses from the owner on any questions. Nearby handyman also catches and delivers lobsters right to your door. Excellent experience; would love to come back!

Nature Abounds

Cozy dog friendly waterfront cottage with excellent access for kayaking and fishing from convenient dock. Outdoor fire pit facing west provides ambiance all day especially sunsets. Only issue we had was that a new home was being constructed at the end of the peninsula and the tranquility of our experience was interrupted by the constant parade of huge dump trucks roaring past the house located 30 feet from the road. Otherwise we had a fantastic vacation. The owners of the property are excellent and very responsive.

Great Location - Major Mechanical Problem

We stayed at Yellow Dog Cottage in the summer of 2010. The location was amazing. The house is set on a sheltered, pristine cove with a private dock and gorgeous view. We rented kayaks and spent many hours paddling the beautiful tidal cove. Waldoboro is a very small town and is some ways away from the house, so you have to plan supply trips into town. It's a rural location, which suited us but might not be for everyone. The house was simple but comfortable, though the upstairs room was a little strange with virtually no light and no electrical outlets. The biggest problem we had was with the water. We were told the house slept 5, and it was myself and my four children. We were very cautious with the water as we were told there was an elaborate water system in place due to the proximity to the cove and that as long as we "didn't use more water than is reasonable", it should be fine. Basically, we took two short showers in the morning and two short showers at night, with my youngest daughter fitting one in when she could. We ran the dishwasher once a day and that was about it, and we had MAJOR water problems. The water shut off entirely several times, requiring the local handyman to come in and reset everything followed by a long wait for the tanks to refill. During this time, we couldn't even flush the toilets. Katherine did offer me a partial refund when I asked, but I was disappointed when I inquired about renting the cottage again this year to discover that the water situation has not been fixed. Furthermore, Katherine seemed to blame the problems on our "excessive" use of water, which was upsetting giving how cautiously we approached the whole situation while there. If the water can't be fixed because of the proximity to the cove, the listing should clearly state that this cottage sleeps less than 5, because in my opinion, it's perfectly reasonable to expect that each person get one brief shower a day. The only other problem we had was the authorized use of the Yellow Dog dock by an early morning lobsterman. Said lobsterman was lovely, but the fish guts and traps strewn across the dock along with the excessive noise of his boat motor at 5am was not. Wish we'd known about this in advance. All this said, if the noise doesn't bother you and you have only a couple of people (or don't plan on showering everyday) in residence, Yellow Dog offers a simple place to stay in a stunning location.

Michelle contacted me this spring about renting the house again this summer (she was a guest last summer). I was surprised by her inquiry because last summer she ran out of water and left feeling unhappy about her experience. Last summer, we took Michelle’s water situation very seriously and worked to resolve it as quickly as possible. We had a plumber at the house within a couple hours to optimize the water flow rate and paid to have 650 gallons of water delivered to tide them over until the well replenished itself. We also issued her a partial refund for the water inconvenience. Our house is located 75 feet from the ocean, where having a well so close to the shoreline is somewhat delicate so water has to be used with care. Because of this, we always discuss our well’s possible limits and provide written guidelines to ensure our potential guests understand this and are comfortable before we accept their reservations. We do this not because we anticipate problems, but because we want our guests to enjoy their stay or choose other vacation accommodations if they are uncertain. We have hosted vacationers for seven years and only very rarely have had a guest run out of water. Before the next scheduled guests arrived, we brought in a well expert and second plumber who determined the system was in working as effectively as possible. They concluded that the water shortage was a result of the demand for water outpacing the available supply. We had numerous guests over the rest of the rental season and none experienced a similar situation. I’m puzzled by the other issues Michelle raised in her review as she never brought them to my attention or expressed dissatisfaction. Now that I am aware, I will be looking into them.

Many times to mid-coast Maine - nicest location yet!

As a couple and then as a family, we have been coming to Maine for 30+ years. We love the mid-coast/Penobscot area. This house is lovely and a perfect location if you like quiet and privacy. Beds were comfortable. Communication with owner was above & beyond. Hope to return here.

Thank you for sharing your home with us. From the moment we drove into the home, the view was stunning. Everyday we spent hours sitting on the dock, fishing, kayaking, watching the eagles and listening to the all the birds. We ate dinner each night outside on the picnic table, played board games and did puzzles in the sun room. We truly need this reset and this home was the very retreat we needed. We are looking forward to booking with you again - this home had everything we needed and desired. Thank you a million times over for this experience. Amazing stay

The property did not disappoint- from the view of the lobster fisherman tending their traps, to the fire pit overlooking the water and sunset and the fresh lobster meal, this was our favorite place we stayed in Maine. The house was spacious and the kitchen was well appointed. Do not hesitate to book this place! Harlen also made our experience special by making sure we had fresh lobster and prepared it correctly!

Magical week at Yellow Dog Cottage

Yellow Dog cottage is a lovely, comfortable, dog-friendly (but of course) cottage in a beautiful part of the world. Room for our family - grandparents, adult children, grandchildren, and dogs. Cottage is well cared for, hosts and manager (a charming lobsterman from whom we bought lobsters for the big house pot) friendly, helpful, and responsive. We swam from the dock and rocky little beach at high tide, watched sunsets, explored the area. Our own bit of heaven for a week on the rocky coast of Maine.

Couldn't have asked for better!

What an amazing property! The house was so well furnished, so clean and perfectly cozy. The caretaker and owner were both friendly and available as needed. My family had such an incredible week with many new memories made over board games and the fire pit. The private dock was serene and terrific for early morning coffee or late evening sunsets. Just perfect!

Fabulous vacation!

We couldn't have asked for a more perfect place to spend a week in the fall. The Yellow Dog Cottage was immaculate and had everything we could ask for to make our stay comfortable and convenient. I will miss my mornings in the Adirondack chairs drinking coffee, watching the lobster fisherman at work. Even our dog was in heaven! We explored the surrounding areas and spent a day hiking on day on Monhegan Island, which was wonderful. The Robsons made this an unforgettable week, and we are grateful that they shared their lovely home with us. We highly recommend this location!

Beautiful location

All the comforts of home with a beautiful location. Wonderful views, especially from the living room. Spacious kitchen for cooking and access to a large grill. Cold nights were warmed by an outside fire pit and indoor fireplace. Would recommend this house without hesitation.

Sunsets are truly spectacular

We had a relaxing two-week stay at the Yellow Dog House with its beautiful setting right on the water in a quiet neighborhood. It's a great area for long walks, biking and kayaking. The house is very comfortable and well-equipped. Our dogs loved exploring on the rocks and swimming.

great warefront location..... Very peaceful, and quiet, make you want to move to Waldoboro. Sunsets are fabulous. House in good condition, wifi, cable, dishwasher, TV, mattress we slept on was better than most. A Dog friendly property Short ride to Beths farm in Warren, great veggies, fruit, local meats, and even fresh lobster. Day trips to Boothbay, Camden for delicious options to eat. We tried TAKA .Mediterranean, Shuck station for great fresh local oysters, Claws for take out seafood, Jameson closer to the camp. Rock city roasters, and flipside for expresso and breakfast options. Ate our share of Lobstah, scallops and even some steamers. Great week to relax and unwind during these unprecedented times.

outstanding place to stay

perfect 3 night stay, totally loved the home. it was so clean, kitchen has anything you needed. we spend so much time looking out the big window overlooking the water. really comfy & cozy.. the kids loved the upstairs bedrooms with video games.. the lobsters were out of this world.. perfect!!

I spent my summers growing up in Maine and introduced my husband to it before we were married. He (happily!) loved it as much as I did and 15 years ago we decided to look for our own place on the coast. We love spending time at Yellow Dog Cottage whenever we get the chance and also love sharing it with our guests.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

We fell in love with this property before we even got out of the car. I remember stepping out of the car on a beautiful November day, instantly in love with the view and the remarkable quiet. We actually purchased the house without ever having been inside, relying just on our peeks through the windows and the photos my parents took on a walk through they generously did for us after we had to return home. We still love spending time there, excited to arrive and sad to leave.

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

We love our house and the area. Waldoboro is a bit sleepy, even in the summer, off the main tourist path but with just enough to do. Many people familiar with the coast of Maine haven't heard of it, which is just how we like it. It's a great central location for day trips to all the wonderful places Maine has to offer.
