This beautiful waterfront home is located in a quiet area of the Bolivar Peninsula, uniquely situated between the only gulf-side boat launch and Fort Travis Seaside Park. Unobstructed views of the Bolivar Roads Anchorage allow you to watch the ship traffic and ferries entering the channel, as well as Galveston Island. In the mornings, you can sit out on the deck with a cup of coffee while watching the breathtaking sunrise and listening to the sounds of the waves. Off the Hook is located between Fort Travis and the North Jetty.

The generous great room has luxury vinyl plank flooring and comfortable seating for everyone. The kitchen is equipped with everything you would need to make your favorite family meals. Coffee lovers will appreciate having both a drip coffee and Keurig machine. The large granite island and separate dining table have room for 11. More comforts of home include high speed internet, and an on-site washer and dryer.

With 2400 square feet, Off the Hook easily sleeps 12. One bedroom offers a king bed, and the other three bedrooms have two queen beds in each!

On the ground level, there is a great covered area that offers room to relax with your family and friends, and barbecue on the charcoal grill. This home is a wonderful place to make beach memories!

Need more room? The house next door, On the Rocks, is also for rent and shares a connecting deck.

**Please be advised that this section of the beach does not connect to the main section of Crystal Beach; you must go to the first beach access road roughly a mile down Hwy 87**

Small dogs (under 35 pounds) are allowed with a pet fee. Cargo lift available with fee. All Swedes Real Estate vacation rentals are non-smoking properties. Swedes does not rent to guests under 25 years of age.
The homeowner does not provide linens and towels, but, if you choose, they are available upon request from our linen service (additional fee applies).

Ok trip

While overall a good stay, we had issues with some of thr ceiling fans not working propertly, and how the linen service was handled The linens were just placed inside the house, and not by room as expected. Also we had not been informed roofers were goingnto be present

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Yard needed mowed the grass was knee high. Trash everywhere under porch, broken kitchen faucet handle, porch shower didn’t work. The worst property we’ve stayed at with them.

New Year gathering

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Off the Hook was a wonderful place for our annual retired little old ladies New Year’s gathering. There were plenty of beds and baths—and no climbing additional floors once we were in the house. Since our ages ranged from 71-91, fewer stairs is always a plus! We’d never stayed that far down the peninsula but loved the change of scenery on that end and its closer proximity to Galveston. We enjoyed our walk out onto the jetty and watching all the tankers and cruise ships coming and going. All in all, it was a GREAT trip!

Great Time was had by All

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We recently had multiple generations stay at Off The Hook. Everything was on one floor which was absolutely perfect as we had a 2 year old and a 92 year old to keep track of! We were able to walk on the beach and the jetty as well as watch the ships coming in. As we had a few days of fog, it was also neat for the non-natives to listen to the foghorns. Will definitely be coming back. Melissa at Swede’s was absolutely wonderful to work with. The one issue we had were the stickers in the backyard but the quick fix is to just walk to the beach via the road.

Not so great this year!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Yard was in bad need of mowing! Kitchen floor was not properly cleaned, bathroom needed some updating with fixtures and a lot of stains on furniture and carpet. Last year it looked great. Also Lyft broke and no one came out to check it, as promised. Trees need to be trimmed as our view was limited.

I was assured it would be taken care of. In previous stays,the yard was unusable. Too many stickers and ant beds all over. It was the same this year. They charge a pet fee, but we have to walk way down the road to take the dogs for a potty run.

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: House was nice; however, ceiling fans in living room and master do not work, the garbage disposal does not work, the lift stopped working halfway through bringing stuff up to the house on the second day and we were not provided even a partial refund on the $100 lift fee. We will likely not be using Swede’s for another stay as the lift was crucial to our experience and they were essentially unresponsive.

Great place

This was our second time staying here. The house is a great place for a family getaway. It’s on the beach, which is fantastic. The house is nicer than the pictures. The view is gorgeous. The deck is huge and a great place to relax. The downside is that if you’re wanting to do things in Galveston you have about an hour commute (depending on line to get on the ferry). They don’t provide linens, so bring your own. You can get a linen package, but quite frankly the sheets with that package are awful. I’d recommend if you’re wanting a true beach front house and aren’t planning on doing much other than the beach.

Look forward to renting next year. I believe forms that need to be signed can be done by email vs having to be signed in person at deadline times. With technology, anything can be done by email.

GREAT property and location.

Pictures do NOT do this property justice. It is beautiful and was very accommodating for our extended family. I would note to others that vehicles drive on all beaches in this area. Not a bad thing just took some adjusting. Overall 5.6 out of 5

Overall Great Stay

Overall, the property was great - it was clean, the floor plan was efficient and provided plenty of room for our multi-generational family of 6. It was actually nicer than the pictures. The beach access with super convenient. The location is descent. This isn't the most pristine beach I have ever seen, but it is still nice. Your views are of the shipping channel - which, in many ways has its own charm and is interesting to watch the ships come and go. We enjoyed the fact that the beach wasn't crowded - we really felt like we had it mostly to ourselves, which was precisely what we were looking for. The back deck is fantastic - the pictures don't do it justice. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the deck and just watching the ocean and relaxing. Our biggest "complaint" would be the linens situation - which we knew when we booked. By having to bring our own linens, we felt like we were camping - we literally brought our trailer just to haul blankets, pillows, sheets and towels - which seemed ridiculous. The only blankets are the thin quilts you see in the pictures. Yes, we could have paid the $150 to rent linens, but that really felt insulting to have to rent linens - especially since we had no confidence in what linens that would include or the quality or quantity. As owners of multiple vacation rentals, I would strongly suggest providing linens to your guests - it would enhance the guest experience tremendously. This property is lovely in all other ways. I think the linens just leave guests feeling frustrated and annoyed. That said, it really is a lovely house and I would recommend - even if you have to haul your linens.
