Come stay at âGraystoneâ and experience a rare piece of Carmel-by-the-Sea history in this enchanting coastal retreat!
Built in the late 1920s and ideally located in Carmelâs coveted Golden Rectangle, âGraystoneâ sits just six blocks from both Carmel Beach and Ocean Avenue.
This charming and historic 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom cottage blends classic craftsmanship with timeless character. Originally designed and constructed by George Whitcomb, the home was named in honor of the family matriarch. The main house is wood-framed and encircled by a unique free-standing stone structure. Locally sourced stone from Carmel Valley and custom wrought iron hardware forged in town reflect the homeâs authentic heritage.
Living Spaces
A stone stairway from the driveway leads you to the main entrance of this 1,363 sf home that is mostly one level but there are a few steps down into the family room.
Inside, the spacious living room features soaring redwood ceilings, a distinctive stone fireplace (decorative only, no burning), cozy seating, a built-in window bench, and a partial ocean view.
A separate dining/family room has a dining table perfect for meals or games and provides a relaxed space to gather and watch TV on the comfy sofa. (TV has XFinity cable service.) This room is a few steps down from the rest of the rooms in the home.
Kitchen
Between the living room and the family room is the particularly cheerful, well-appointed kitchen, complete with tile countertops, brick flooring and a gas range.
Outside
Outdoors, enjoy a private patio area with a BBQ grill and table seating for four â perfect for alfresco dining in the coastal breeze. The back yard is fenced.
Bedrooms and Bathroom
Both bedrooms and the bathroom are tucked at the rear of the house for added privacy.
Bedroom #1 includes a Queen bed, a corner fireplace surrounded by stone (decorative only, no burning), skylight, and built-in bookcase.
Bedroom #2 features antique twin mahogany beds, a walk-in closet, and direct access to the quaint back patio.
The shared hall bathroom has a bath tub and a separate standing shower.
NEST-controlled central forced-air heating in all rooms except the dining/family room.
A stacked washer and dryer are located in a laundry room off the kitchen.
Off street parking for one vehicle is available in the driveway. Street parking is available on a first come, first served basis. The garage is not available for guest use.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome with pre-approval, an additional pet fee and a signed pet addendum.
This home is a monthly rental and we request that all nights of your stay are within the same calendar month. Some exceptions may be possible, with the approval of our team and the homeowner.
