Very enjoyable stay. Great home very comfortable. The ocean location on a rocky shore is outstanding. By far the best sunsets. This is our second stay and we look forward to many more.
We found the cottage exactly as described and all its charm from circa 1957 delightful. Even better though is the deck with uninterrupted view of the rocky shore. The location provides privacy and also access to what we wanted - privacy, the sea, daily walks, and within reasonable drives a range of coastal Maine activities.
Just a wonderful place to spend time. The views are stunning. The cottage is clean and inviting.
The cottage is a time capsule. The owners have done an outstanding job with it. I can't tell if it was a well executed renovation or perfectly preserved. It's a ten minute walk to Pemaquid Point Lighthouse and 3 miles from Pemaquid Beach. We couldn't have been happier with this rental. In fact, we loved the area so much, we bought a house down the street!
My only complaint with the cottage would be the outdated TV and lousy cable options however we weren't there to watch TV and never used it anyway. I rate this rental a 10!
We had a delightful week in the cottage in August 2021. George and Dorothy were so easy to communicate with, both through the messaging platform and their openness from sharing their email and phone numbers. The cottage has an exceptional location nearly at the tip of Pemaquid Point. Right on the water, with outstanding sunsets seen from the deck or the picture-window every evening. We swam from the rocks when the tide was right as well!
It was a warm week, and we appreciated how the cottage cooled off at night and the fans came in handy as well. The home had everything we needed for a comfortable and easy stay. Very thoughtfully appointed. We loved our time there!
There is nothing bad to say about the location of this cute cottage. It is quiet and relaxing just watching the water and waiting for the sunset; something we desperately needed. It is a bit of a blast from the past but very clean. We hope to stay again next year.
We are hoping there will be a replacement/updated tv for next year as it is quite old, the sound fades a bit, and it is not compatible if you want to bring a fire stick or other current tv options. Also the bed was a bit saggy for someone with some back problems. However it will probably not keep us from renting again.
George & Dorothy were attentive, very pleasant and easy to deal with. We had a great time just relaxing. Their home is completely updated and the new layout is perfect. The location on Pemaquid Point and their large grassy yard down to the ocean are Maine at its best. If you love an ocean view, especially one with at sun set it is nothing short of spectacular.

Les points faibles : Communication et exactitude de lâannonce
Disappointing
The listing for this property when we booked it last September read âSummer 2022 prices reflect renovations.â Those renovations were to include a second bathroom, a new washer/dryer, and an updated kitchen. Imagine our disappointment to learn in July of this year, too late to change our plans, that the washer/dryer was not working, with the owner suggesting we instead could use the laundromat in the town 14 miles away. Then we discovered on arrival that the shower in the 2nd bathroom was not operable. In addition, the sink drain in the new bathroom was stuck shut and the toilet tank in the other bathroom would not fill after use. When I called the owner George Dorr to complain and to suggest a discount in the rental price because the cottage was not as advertised, I was subject to a verbal tirade by his wife Dorothy Dorr for my complaining. Not the way to start a relaxing vacation week.
I have given the cottage 3 stars because the view from the deck and dining room window were beautiful and the kitchen was indeed updated, although we did not do any cooking. But our "welcome" left a sour taste in our mouths.
Public access to the waterfront made backyard more like a public park. A never ending flow of peopl.
Clean, but bath and laundry incomplete..
As well as other unfinished parts.
Had people driving onto grass to public access. People in our hammock, found one couple walking their dogs in our yard when we returned home one night. Plus the entire neighborhood did not just use access to get to the waterfront, they would set up camp right in front of our house everyday and mad my boys feel uncomfortable using our own beach/rocks. I understand waterfront is public, but all other properties I've rented the people just passed through.
Just not what I expected for the price.
Thank you so much for the use of your cottage at Pemaquid Point last week. It was picture perfect while I made believe I lived in Maine and enjoyed the surrounding communities.
I even got to have lunch at The Seagull Shop & Restaurant, making my stay complete.
The lighthouse and coast of Pemaquid is my favorite spot in all of Maine.
Property was just as advertised. Cozy & comfortable, all the amenities we needed. Spent most of our time outside on the Adirondack chairs reading. I did my morning walk to the lighthouse & Pemaquid Loop Road. I enjoyed the gallery thatâs less than a half a mile from cottage and almost daily trips to Harbor ice cream. But again most of our stay was spent beachcombing and enjoying the beauty of the Maine coast- thank you for a beautiful stay
The location of the house was fabulous with a clear view to the ocean/bay. Just what we were looking for. The house was as advertised, vintage. It had a lot of older furniture and wallpaper. There was plenty of seating in a nice, bright sunroom with great views. Overall, we had a wonderful vacation in this charming home.
We had the pleasure to stay at George's house and would return in a heartbeat. The house was a time capsule of a time long past. It was clean beyond words and yet homey as a memory long revered. The view of the ocean was spectacular. We had our meals on their new deck or at the dinning room table while savoring the extraordinary vista. The Lobster boats collecting their traps harvest was a fascinating site to behold. The walk to the Pemaquid Light house was a shear delight which we took advantage of each morning. In short, The Classic Retro Cottage is a treasure which we were fortunate enough to partake in its bounty.

We are a retired couple who fell in love with this cottage and the New Harbor location near Pemaquid Point Lighthouse. We are available by phone or email (no text)for any questions before or during your stay. We welcome guests that are courteous of our property. This year we added a barn on the property for our personal storage.
Location, location, location. Ocean views, wildlife and western sunsets this property offers. We enjoy watching sail boats passing and lobster boats maneuvering close to our shoreline for their harvest. The short walks to the Lighthouse, Galleries, and Pemaquid Loop, as well as other trails.. Proximity to grocery store and restaurants is an added bonus.
Location, great views, wildlife, and watching the lobster boats come in to our shoreline; sailboats passing and phenomenal western sunsets. Two miles from Riley's Grocery store and a Post Office. Access to Miles Medical Hospital 14 miles from cottage.
