Imagine visiting your sweet older aunt's apartment that happens to have a great view of Alicante's downtown, the harbor & castle, especially at night when everything is lit. That is what staying in the Alicante Beach Apartment is like. It is an older residence and it looks like there is a mix of retired people, young people, vacationers and everyone in-between living in this high rise on the beach. It is not modern or new but the owner has made this a home away from home supplied with everything you need and then some. We were able to cook easily, had plenty of kitchen tools, plenty of dishware, spices, etc, hand towels, bath towels & bedding. If "dust bunnies" scare you it may not pass the white glove test but you forget that with the view. There is a small beach that you overlook which didn't look as nice for swimming because of the seaweed. A quick walk in the right hand direction brings you past a small boat harbor to a nicer beach area. To the left hand direction there is great hiking along the rocky shore and you can eventually come to beautiful San Juan beach. We drove the few minutes to the San Juan beach a couple of times and there is lots of street parking. There is a Marcadona just a few blocks from the apartment with exceptionally good priced food and supplies, lots of coffee shops and eateries. You can walk a few blocks from the apartment and catch the tram into the heart of Alicante (cost 1.45 Euro one way, buy your ticket on the tram) The apartment has a washing machine and you can access a clothes line on the roof of the building. There are only twin beds in the apartment but for a week, that's not a big deal. To get to the apartment our GPS took us right to the bottom of the street it was located on, just continue up the street until you pass the bus stop and the drive into the parking lot is the 1st gated drive past the bus stop. The only things we would change...we would move the couch on the balcony to the opposite side so the AC unit didn't block your view and the support cross bar for the sliding windows sort of block your view when sitting. I know that sounds like little things and it is but we wanted to give a balanced review. We totally enjoyed our stay and could recommend the apartment.
