The Mahana is a lovely spot with an unbeatable location overlooking the beach at Kaanapali. Great if you want a relatively quiet complex that is well-maintained and where every suite is truly ocean-front. Lots of parking and convenient to shopping, with endless opportunities for beach walking. We love it!
As advertised, lovely oceanfront property with amazing views of blue waters and islands of Lanai and Molokai easily found just south of the Kaanapali Beach Club (large pink hotel). Beach directly out front is rocky, but there are more sandy, swimmable beaches just minutes to the south (e.g. Kahekili "Airport" Beach had great parking and uncrowded snorkeling reef compared to Black Rock). There is a supermarket and food truck park within a 5 minute walk. Lahaina is a short 15 minute drive to the south. Compared to our last visit to Maui (Wailea), we enjoyed our time in this condo (vs hotel) and it felt like there was more to do on this side of the island. I had reserved the larger 2 bedroom/2 bath unit for our family of 4, but at check in was told they were oversold. So we got 2 single units side by side - with older children it wasn't the end of the world, but changed the dynamic a bit. If someone had younger children, I would expect it would cause more of a problem. Otherwise, I would recommend this property to anyone who wishes to stay in Kaanapali. Mahalo.
Overall the stay was good, however a few details have to be noted. the property located on the beach, great view, however, its impossible to swim right as you walk out. there are rocks and tide comes up right to the stairs. you will also have to walk to the side of this property to get to "good beach", some drank and smoking people were always sitting there in their tent. it made my daughter very uncomfortable. the room had a bad bed that was making noise with every move at nighttime. bed was old and not comfortable. place also did not have any condaments ( not use to that), we had to buy salt and paper to cook a simple meal. no foil or napkins. I know these are all simple things but they create a comfort for people to stay there . and the last and not least, is that we had to go and ask for people to bring trash bags, as you expect people to take trash out and have nothing to replace it with. I am not sure why would that be a problem. again, in all the places we stayed, after removing full trash bag, there is always on the bottom to replenish it. they brought it up as we asked for it, but you have to ask. overall stay was good but i will not return to this resort.
Great views, great location to grocery, restaurants, and the beach. Not the original booked room which was fine since there was construction going on near the booked room and we got two 1 bedrooms for the same price. No in house restaurant or bar which probably saves money in the long run :). Friendly staff. There was no salt, pepper, spices, oil or anything really to cook with which is different than most VRBOs I have rented in the past. Overall it was a great stay and we would do it again for sure!
We had a wonderful 1 week stay with the family - two young kids. Location is wonderful - walk to the beach, pool in the resort, Food Trucks near by and close to grocery store as well!
Views from the condo are great as well! Short drive to Whalers Village or you can walk along the board walk on the beach.
Friendly staff at the reception and they are available 24x7 for any help needed.
The view from the unit was great! There were also some places to eat within walking distance. We had a good time. The pictures on the listing were not of the actual unit we were in.
Another perfect vacation at the Aston Mahana. The views were amazing! We saw whales breaching and swimming seals. The room (219) was beautiful and had everything that we needed. I canât imagine staying anywhere else on Maui. We will be back!
