We had a wonderful stay in Rockport. The views are beyond incredible, and the owners are a true delight! We spent hours on the porch and climbing on the rocks. The property is clean and the landscaping is gorgeous. We canât say enough good things!
This home is on a perfect location in Rockport, a special location for our family. We picked it because of our prior visits to Rockport. The host was very responsive and the property was clean upon arrival. But, there were a few unexpected snags. The property reports having AC, which was an important consideration in making our reservation as we have a family member with a medical condition that doesn't tolerate heat well. However, the AC is only available in the two upper bedrooms. We were in Rockport in mid-July and experienced multiple days of 90 weather. As a result, the house was very hot during most of our stay. The house has spectacular entertaining space on the first floor with beautiful views of the water. However, the kitchen and bathrooms are quite dated (40 years old?). There are some beautiful details throughout the house, including hand painted wallpaper and lovely artwork. The kitchen is not well-equipped. This may not be an issue for many vacationers, but we are a family that enjoys cooking. So, if you are a cook, you may want to bring some additional pots and pans to supplement what is available.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Breakwater House. The seaside coastal view was enthralling and gorgeous Halibut State Park was walking distance, or a short drive with parking available. The home is spacious and comfortable. Our adult daughter stayed and college friends stopped by for cocktails and dinner. We used the home telescope for close up views of Jupiter rising, Saturnâs rings and the full moon. Cormorants and other birds and sea life visible from the deck. The landscaped lawn perfect for a game of corn hole and for quietly reading in the Adirondack chairs. Host was friendly and helpful. Nearby Gloucester and Schooner weekend were lovely and enjoyed a foodie trip up to Portland. A beautiful location! A slice of paradise.
The natural beauty and wonder of the Atlantic Ocean on full display on an 180 degree canvas. We were just so in awe with the scenery that we didnât leave the home and grounds except for food and supplies. Family and friends visited and admired the quiet beauty.
The home is perfect two bedrooms upstairs with deck over looking the ocean and rocks. First floor open concept provided views of the cove from every corner. Relaxed friendly host available for any questions. Definitely an experience we will always remember.
The location just above the rocky granite shore is fabulous. The house has an open feeling with plenty of glass to provide views and access to the deck. The 180 degree view encompasses both near and distant shores. Great for watching lobster boats nearby, or just the waves. Situated in a very nice neighborhood for local walking to nearby conservation land, or just climb along the shoreline. The house itself is well-equipped and very comfortable.
Some of the best views from inside and outside this house that I have ever seen. Tons of marine wildlife to enjoy watching right in front of the house. We even saw a whale feeding about 25 yards from our porch! The wonderful property owners were the icing on the cake for a spectacular week. Thank you!
We are a married couple who live right next door to the rental property. This close proximity allows us to keep a close watch on the property and to maintain it in a careful way.
Breakwater House is direct waterfront with a wonderful view of the Atlantic ocean. Three lighthouses can be seen from the house. During the warm weather months there is constant activity on the ocean with lobster and fishing boats going back and forth. On weekends there are sailboat races from the Sandy Bay Yacht Club directly in front of the house. Many visitors enjoy watching the many shore and sea birds that migrate through Pigeon Cove.
Breakwater House is only a half mile from Halibut Point state park and two miles from downtown Rockport. The oldest seaport in America, Gloucester, is the other part of Cape Ann, and is a vibrant historic and still active fishing community with excellent museums, whale watching and many choices of restaurants. The beaches of Cape Ann are the best in the region. The city of Boston is less than an hour away by commuter rail or car.
