Great location in small local London village of Brackenbury. Small studio apartment. Secure, peaceful and comfortable. Easy access to transport and central London. We enjoyed our stay.
The studio was well appointed and located in a quiet but very convenient neighborhood. Vivien was available and immediately responsive. All in all it was an excellent experience.
Great location close to great pubs, shops and transport but very quiet. The hosts were friendly and helpful. The studio is lovely and well equipped with a seperate bathroom and kitchen
It was a pleasure to stay in this well-organised apartment. Set in a great location and close to all amenities, this spot provided us with a welcome respite from the surrounding busy London.
Vivien was the perfect host without being intrusive.
Thanks so much. June & Terry
This Hammersmith flat is small but bright and charming. It's about a 10-minute walk to several Underground lines and buses. The owners, Vivien and Doug, are always just a phone call away and are eager to solve any problem. The flat itself is small, perfect for one person --or possibly for two people who really like each other! The little kitchen is well equipped, the bathroom has an excellent shower, and there are books and maps to help visitors navigate around the city. This was my second stay there and I hope to come back again.
We stayed for 2 weeks in this flat and I agree with some of the other reviewers. It's small. The kitchen smoke alarm will go off when you cook anything, even toast. The bed is firm but small, a US double with lumpy pillows. The bathroom is compact but has good water pressure and fixtures. We were in London when it was 30C/90F and were boiling hot in the flat. We purchased a small fan and left it behind.
The neighborhood deli/cafe has good coffee and breakfast. We liked the quiet neighborhood and transport links. There are great food options and its quiet at night. You will hear the owners upstairs. They are attentive to any issues though and the flat is well maintained. We would stay again if the overall flat was a bit bigger. It's very cramped for 2.
I had 5 nights here recently. Itâs in a pretty good location and only 10 mins walk to Hammersmith tube. However it is very small- there is no way that 2 people could stay here comfortably, luckily I was on my own. The kitchenette is not useable, the appliances are cheap and old. I couldnât even use the toaster as it smoked almost immediately triggering the fire alarm to go off each time so I gave up trying to do anything like that. It was very cold despite it being glorious outside. As the upstairs owners control the heating I needed to have the electronic heater on constantly. The shower/ toilet is so small you can barely dry yourself without smashing your elbow in to the wall. Even for London standards I think it is pricey for what you get. When the owner knocked on the door to offer a good will gesture of chocolate because a bag of dirty laundry was left on the bed when I first checked in (which was very thoughtful), she asked if everything else was ok. I said yeah but it is quite basic. Vivienne actually laughed and flounced off up the stairs instead of being interested in why I felt that way. Was a very peculiar reaction. Also there is a tv that is so small you have to sit about 30cm away to see anything. Sorry I couldnât be more positive.
This little studio apartment is well appointed and efficiently organized. However, during my stay two issues occurred that caused me much misery and sleeplessness. The exterior door was difficult to unlock from the inside. Sometimes it would unlock and other times not, with the result that I was often locked in. I was not given a key to the windows, so it was impossible for me to exit the apartment. There was also a rushing water noise that occurred every 22 minutes. I am sure that these issues would not have been so severe had the homeowners been present, but they were on a 2 week holiday. They told me they could not deal with the water noise until they returned, but by that time I would have been gone. They did send someone by to help me with the door, but it still got stuck afterwards. It was disappointing that the homeowners displayed no sympathy with my plight and in the end accused me of "exaggerating".
We really enjoyed staying in Viviens and Dougâs apartment. It had everything we needed and was an ideal base for us to explore London. Itâs close to the tube, supermarkets, great pubs and cafes. We would have stayed there on a return trip to London but it was unavailable.
The apartment was nice, well presented, and generally comfortable. The bed was very comfortable and it has a great shower, so that makes it feel very homely. The location was pretty good (a good 15 minute walk to the station and shopping area). The nearby shops and the local pub are pretty good too.
Unfortunately there were two main things that prevent me from recommending this apartment in winter. Firstly, the heating is controlled by the main house, which is fine, but they only have the heating on for a few hours in the morning and a few hours in the evening. No heating during the very cold nights, and I had to leave the apartment each day (thankfully there is a great co-working space nearby, but it was costly). There is a small electric heater but it's not one that you would feel safe enough to leave on overnight or for the whole day if you want to work from the apartment. Thankfully the temps didn't drop as much as was expected and the bedding was warm, and with some extra layers on, I was not too cold, but it was just an unnecessary worry when just leaving the heater on would work better.
The second issue is that the kitchen / entry area has a vent to the outside which lets in all the cold air, so you need to shut the kitchen door to keep the heat in, which makes the kitchen off limits because it's just so cold in there.
I'm sure it would be a lovely apartment in the spring or autumn when it's not so cold.
Other things that would really improve the apartment are a bigger TV, a better hairdryer, and a side table by the bed.
Apart from the worry about the cold I did enjoy my two weeks in Hammersmith.
Absolutely loved it đđđ
So cosy and cute has everything you need even extras like hair dryers toiletries and condiments in the kitchen. There is a Santander bike stop only 5 mins away which makes this home absolutely perfect. Would love to come again. Viv is an excellent host who replies very quickly and was extremely accommodating allow me to leave my luggage at the house until my train later on in the day. Defo recommend!!
This Flat and area have a lot to offer. It's in a quite neighborhood of Brackenbury and any amenity you would want is within a block or two from the flat; i.e. Deli, Restuarants, Grocery Store, Laundry, Pub, etc. The Flat itself has a nice comfortable bed, a Kitchen and Washing Machine that work perfect for my needs and there is no traffic in the area to disrupt. It is within about ten minutes walking from King Street which is a great shopping district, about 15 minutes to the tube that will take you to central london and very close to the Thames by Hammersmith Bridge with offers several pubs and walking trails. Tom and Vivien, the Owners, are very friendly and professional. They go above and beyond to address any inquiries and are very helpful in letting you know places about London to fit any interest you may have. I stayed at the Flat close to two months and will defintily plan to stay there if avaiable on my next visit. I highly recommend staying at this Flat.
This is definitely a flat for two people maximum. That being said, it is absolutely perfect if you wish to stay in an area of London that is not overrun with tourists. Hammersmith is a lovely area of London with lots of shops and restaurants, but it doesn't feel touristy at all. As for the flat it is outfitted with all the necessities-- including an excellent shower. Thanks for a wonderful stay.
This is a nice affordable apartment in a great location in an expensive city
This is a small daylight basement apartment in a nice residential neighborhood. It is nicely furnished and outfitted and an easy walk to the Hammersmith Tube and bus station with great shopping and restaurants. There are also a couple of restaurants and a small grocery store a block away. We enjoyed it and would come back. The only drawback is the tricky spiral stairs into the apartment.
The Hammersmith Studio is an ideal place to stay for a number of reasons. The accommodation itself was sunny , bright and pleasant to return to at the end of a day of sight seeing. While only a short walk of 10 minutes or so from the hustle and bustle of the Hammersmith tube stations and all the restaurants and amenities there, it is situated in an area that is peaceful and calm. The immediate neighbourhood has small community feel to it and is most pleasant to wander in. The studio was well equipped with small but efficient appliances, dishes, utensils, pots, pans soaps, laundry detergent etc. In short there was everything you needed for an even longer stay.
Transportation links to all of London were easily available from the Hammersmith Station hub. Underground, bus and cabs were all readily available. The ease of organizing you days travel was a real benefit.
If returning to London I would certainly stay here again.
The place was in a fantastic neighbourhood, only a 10 minute walk to central transportation. There is also a cute little coffee shop just down the road, and some nearby neighbourhood restaurants and pubs. It is very small though, definitely not a place for more than two people! The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, bowls, utensils etc. which was great, and there is even a laundry machine :) Our only negative was we felt the place could have been a bit cleaner, especially with the hefty cleaning fee charged.
The studio is nice, clean and cozy, quite adequate for two people. It is located on a quiet residential street, in a nice neighborhood, and it is provided with all you need for a comfortable stay. Vivien and Doug are very friendly and gave us a list of very good tips for London. You will find a nice delli just around the corner as well as dry cleaners, a very good Pub and also a delicious French Bistro, the Brackenbury Restaurant, as well a well sorted local market. The nearest subway station can be reached at a walking distance of 15 minutes. The only problem we experienced concerned the impossibility to use the washing/drying machine: neither the two of us nor Vivien were able to put it to work. The first time we needed to wash our clothes Vivien very kindly did it for us at her own place, but thereafter we had to take our clothes to the laundry.
Fabulously equipped property, light and perfectly lit. A few things that surprised me was that the bathroom door wouldn't close, and that there was no freezer. However this was not a problem to me, I was very happy with my stay in this apartment.
I was so happy at this quiet, cozy studio. The set-up is very clever, so it feels more spacious than a studio. Excellent location, nice suggestions and offerings in the neighbourhood, and well supplied with basic needs. Vivien was a most attentive and responsive host. The proximity to the Thames Path is great. (William Morris lived at Kelmscott House and there is a tiny exhibition space in the old carriage house there which is open a couple days a week--a less well known little gem.) I would definitely stay here again!
I'm a Communications Consultant working in policy and the charitable sector. My career was in TV News and I traveled the world for many years- but now happy to be more in London- and by the sea where my partner and myself go sailing. I am sporty and tennis is my favourite sport- along with table tennis!!!
We like our houseâs location because it is in a village-type area with such good amenities in the next street and close-by. Itâs safe walking about and is a friendly neighbourhood. I belong to a bookclub, my gym is nearby and I play tennis also in a local club. Getting around with 4 tube lines at Hammersmith is easy and we love to cycle in the city too. The Thames River and walks are close- if you want peace and queit and lovely views, but so is the great Westfield shopping centre.
Our house gets the sun all day which fills it with light- and so the studio is sunny in the afternoons. Our table and chairs in the front patio gives you fresh air for a morning coffee or afternoon tea.Enjoy!
