We had a lovely stay!Everything was as described in listing. Slept great, that's very important to me. Will definitely stay again if in the area.Paul was a great host!
We very much enjoyed a getaway to relax and do something distracting. We all enjoyed the Mark Twain books and DVDs in the evenings to refresh old knowledge and learn some new things about Mark Twain.
Such a cute little house! Chock full of Mark Twain/Samuel Clemens memorabilia to look at. Close to all the tourist stuff we wanted to do and we had a wonderful time.
My wife, mother in law, and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Hannibal at Night at the Twain Museum. We spent two nights here while we visited Hannibal as part of our Great River Road trip. The Mark Twain collection in the house appeared to be carefully selected. A large portion of these items are irreplaceable. This house is truly a must visit while staying in Hannibal to completely immerse oneself into all things Mark Twain. The Mark Twain library in the house was complete and put to good use during our stay. The house was very clean and well kept. We would definitely stay here again next time we pass through Hannibal.
We booked a weekend getaway for our parents and they had a wonderful, relaxing stay! They found the decor interesting but not cluttered at all, said the house was very clean and comfortable, and found the bed and couch comfortable. They were able to visit shops and do a sightseeing riverboat cruise while they were there, and it was a great way to unwind and connect. Thanks to Paul for being incredibly responsive and providing so much detail about the house and Hannibal in general; we were able to book for our parents and provide all the information they might need without them having to do any legwork!
We really enjoyed the place we stayed. It was quiet serene very well stocked and ready for company. All the features we just as described. Host went out of way to make sure we had good direction and lots of information on the sights to see. Truly planning a return visit in the future.
The Twain Museum House was just great! The attention to detail was unbelievable. Plus, it had sleep number beds and great linens!! It literally is a Mark Twain Museum, but not overdone. The hosts were great to communicate with and seemed very gracious. Great stay!!
Excellent stay overall; property was exactly as described. Very clean and organized -- with the museum pieces, it would seem that such could become very cluttered, but it was definitely not. Easiest check-in process ever.
I have stayed at a lot of places, this was overall the cleanest, most comfortable, beautiful and interesting place I have stayed! Everything was there that was needed! Beds are so comfy. Short distance from anything we wanted to do. I cant wait for my next trip!
This was my second stay at the Hannibal House. Paul is a gracious host who has gone out of his way to furnish the home with modern, up-to-date amenities and to make everyone's stay very pleasant. The property is close to downtown Hannibal and conveniently located to multiple sights and attractions in the area. Excellent value.
We had such fun learning more about Mark Twain in this cool home. Itâs really like a museum. Always something cool to see every time you turn around. Home was very clean and is laid out nicely. The host provided great amenities and communication was perfect and timely.
We were friends meeting from afar and we really were just looking for a nice place in an interesting location. Boy, did this fill the bill. You could not find a cleaner, more well appointed house in Hannibal, and it truly is a museum. We had one little glitch (that sorted itself out) and the host was very fast to respond. Highly recommend Night at the Twain.
Not only was the home just as pictured and described - it was even better. Extremely thoughtful touches like charging cables throughout and a comfortable couch. The documentary recommendation and DVD set was a surprising treat that made the other attractions in Hannibal even more enjoyable. Not the shows we had planned to watch, but relaxing and fun. It fit. Thank you for the get away.
This is an amazing space to stay while in Hannibal! Paul has thought of everything to make The Twain Museum home away from home. Beds and all furniture comfortable, extremely welcoming home, itinerary suggestions, decor and a library to enjoy ⊠I wanted to stay longer simply to enjoy the books on the two porches! Highly recommended⊠we will be back! Thanks for a top notch experience!!!
Comfortable and clean house, great for a quick visit to see friends near Hannibal The Mark Twain theme starts outside the home and continues in every room, but I think the best feature might actually be the amazing comfortable beds. Did not disappoint!
Very nice home, close to everything we wanted to see. Well equipped home, had everything we needed. The binder on the table had information on how everything in the home worked. Also in the binder was a list of local attractions. The binder was very helpful. There was some snacks and drinks on the table, definitely a plus!
Overall a wonderful stay.
I grew up in Hanniibal and worked as a tour guide in Mark Twain and Cameron caves during high school. I am a Mark Twain scholar and historian. I am passionate about Mark Twain and the history of Hannibal. I have created Night at the Twain Museum to honor both. I am also an occupational therapist and own an ergonomics consulting business.
I chose this neighborhood for the rich history. The house is 400 feet from where Twain's dad and brother (Henry) were originally laid to rest. It's also the cemetery that is referenced in the adventures of Tom Sawyer where Tom and Huck saw Injun Joe murder Doc Robinson and frame Muff Potter. The Haunted Hannibal Ghost Tour spends 20 minutes explorering this cemetery. Twain's boyhood home is less than a mile from our home. You will be staying where Twain spent his childhood. Our home is at the top of a hill. It's private and peaceful, with woods in our back yard. This hill is the location of many of Mark Twain's childhood adventures.
