We had a party of 9 and loved our stay. The chateau was beautiful with all of the amenities you could ask for. Beautiful heated pool and great places to hike. We took full advantage of the big dining room and hired a private chef to prepare us a 5 course meal one night. Great and memorable experience is an ideal setting.
This is a fantastic old house in a style that I liked very much. The House suited my family very well. Both the bedrooms and bathrooms are large and cool with high ceilings. We had high 20s to low 30s weather for our week and sleeping was always comfortable.
The crockery probably needs an update I think and maybe a few more utensils. We cook a lot.
The location is both fantastic and a bit difficult. For me a price worth paying for the tranquility. If you want to be away from it all then this is the place although Marseille and Aix are each a twenty minute drive away.
David is a great host who helped us out with any issues we had not associated with the house!
I would love to visit again even to just sit on the balconies.
I booked this place without meeting the owner or viewing the property, just by seeing the pictures. The mansion is so gorgeous, its been a week we came back but still all our friends and family are talking about it.
Its a massive property, all the rooms are very comfortable, beautiful and very clean. Bathrooms are well equipped.
The kitchen has everything you need, cutleries, cooking pots, two dishwashers, everything you think of and is available there.
The garden is huge for kids to play. Each and every area in the property is spotless clean.
The owner David came to meet us at the time of check-in and instructed with all the details of the house. Very humble and kind guy.
Overall very very happy with the stay!
Characterful villa in quiet spot but near amenities.
David was a most helpful host and even delivered us some of his Mum's gorgeous home made jam. The house is full of character and was ideal for our large family group. We enjoyed eating on the lovely terrace and making use of the BBQ where we saw some amazing sunsets. Despite the 35 degree heat the swimming pool was very cold and would benefit from heating to use to make it more enjoyable. You must have a car to access the property (through a factory site and then up a steep winding path) but once up the hill the villa is quiet and secluded. We enjoyed playing ping pong and the floodlit petanque pitch was great fun. A supermarket is a convenient five minute drive away.
Villa Martin is situated on a historic country house estate in a National Park, giving you access to 60 acres of private parkland grounds. The caretaker's house is just a short stroll from the main house.
From here you are just 10 miles from Marseilles, 10 miles from Aix en Provence, and the starting point of many nice walks. These include forest rambles. this is a great place to stay if you love the outdoors.
