Great location, very comfy bed and excellent shower. Some concerns over how clean it was and disappointed that there was no welcome pack. Living area could do with less tables, constantly have to walk around furniture to get about.
The view is everything with this property along with excellent locationBeautiful, quirky accommodation with good shower and comfy bed.Cleanliness overall good but let down by pet hair, a greasy grill pan and a stained table surface. There was also no light working for stairway.Worth pointing out that people with mobility issues will find the stairs to bedrooms and bathroom challenging.
This property is excellent, it ouses charm and is decorated to a high standard. It is very well equipped and in an ideal location.
We have booked again for next year.
We had a fantastic four nights stay at the cottage, it was clean and everything we hoped for, the decorations and facilities were spot on and the central location was perfect for us. I would definitely return and recommend to family and friends
Absolutely stunning location and impeccably decorated and furnished..what a gem!
Stunning fishermans cottage overlooking the harbour..beautifully decorated and very romantic..perfectly located to all the fabulous shops and restaurants that Whitby has to offer..we loved sitting on the balcony and watching the fishing boats coming and going..looking forward to another relaxing stay.
Perfect for 2 ...Whitby harbour views even from the loo....Coastal and French styling all in tones of blue.....take a look at the photos and see if it's for you !
Absolutely fabulous place. The location is perfect, the cottage is beautifully decorated and really comfortable and the views are amazing. We were lucky to have great weather and the balcony was the perfect place to while away the afternoon.
As an active couple with one small dog, this place was perfect. Great location, house was really comfortable, great galley kitchen, sitting room with gorgeous views, and a proper master suite with freestanding tub in bedroom with views out the window to the bay and beyond. The shower ensuite was also lovely. The shower had great pressure and again lovely views out to the harbour. We didnt use the top bedroom - but this would work well if you had one child of a medium age. We had 4 nights and really enjoyed it
If you are lucky enough to book this beautiful place you will feel like youâve gone back in time, quality beyond words, stunning location, sitting out on the balcony is breathtaking, the view from the bath of Captain Cookâs statue with a glass of bubbles is something else, prepare to be wowed in Whitby at The Folly. Thank you to the hosts and the lovely lady we met today as we checked out, love and best wishes. Xx â€ïž
The access for the person staying in the attic bedroom to the bathroom and downstairs is through the main bedroom. The stairs were also far from easy to use. All of this shouldhave been communicted, vbro needs to have more vigorous checks ! I wont trust this site again
The skirting boards were so filthy, weeks of dust
Its a nice location, great to watch the boats, picures of rooms made the lounge look so much bigger
Splendid home from home. A little bit of luxury with a lot of practicality. Perfect position in old Whitby. Everything you need for a stress free holiday....I only have 2 bugbears. One is not enough places to unpack to so had to live out of suitcase.. The other is the incredible noise from boat club even afterhours so either had to sleep with window closed or kept awake til wee hours neither of which acceptable. Can only return if second issue is addressed. Overall.. You have to visit as Davina makes it worthwhile.
We really enjoyed our stay, so much so that we have booked for next year already!
It is really quirky and not huge, but only 2 of us and our dog so absolutely perfect for us all.
The kingsize bed is sooooooooo comfy, had really good nights sleep (except 1 very stormy night!!).
The location is superb, loved sitting out on the balcony when warm enough to do so, or sitting in the window seat when it wasn't.
Great to be able to just pootle down the jitty to the beach when tide out, or along to the grass past the steps when not out - to be able to walk the dog - neither very far so didn't miss not having a garden.
As others say the stairs are those of an old cottage so are fairly steep and wind around, bear in mind that the loo is in the bathroom which is upstairs, so its not just a case of negotiating the stairs twice a day. I do have arthritis but did manage for the week, but wouldn't be suitable if you have severe problems.
Thankyou Davina for a wonderful holiday - we are looking forward to next year already!
Perfect little hideaway for a long weekend. Lovely decor, lovely comfy bed, fab bath, great location. It was a bright but very windy and cold weekend - it felt great to be snuggled up warm in front a real fire while the wind howled around us outside! Very quiet location (other than the wind!) . A lovely place to return to after a long walk on the beach or on the cliffs! Thought there was plenty of storage for the two of us - beautiful hangers on the clothes rail. Just a very little negative - was a bit suprised to be in Whitby Yorkshire and for there to not be a teapot! and not that it bothered us at all but should say that the windows were very drafty - quite a lot of sand came through the gaps onto the window sills. With the fire and with central heating it was not cold at all. The shower was luke warm - Im guessing that may be water pressure issue? We just opted for baths instead! We really loved our stay - just what the doctor ordered. Would love to return.
Lovely cottage throughout, hidden away from all the hustle and bustle of the main street including all the noise. Great balcony to sit for al fresco meals and drinks. Davina couldnt do any more for us, and even had a plumber come out over the bank holiday weekend to take a look at a query. Overall, 10/10!
The Folly is a very special place. Its tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Church Street and is the perfect bolthole to enjoy the stunning views over the Harbour and out to Sea and to watch the fishing boats coming in to land their catch.
