Whitby Sea View Cottage Harbour Views Quiet Cragg

An 18th-century Grade II listed fisherman’s cottage apartment set on The Cragg, one of Whitby’s most atmospheric and historic streets, with uninterrupted sea, harbour and Whitby Abbey views from every room.

Tucked away in a very quiet elevated position above the harbour, the property offers a rare combination of peace and central location. From sunrise over the sea to the lights of the harbour at night, the views are truly exceptional.

The apartment has been fully renovated in recent years to a modern standard while carefully retaining original features, including exposed beams. It offers a double bedroom and a twin attic room (“The Crow’s Nest”), both enjoying stunning outlooks.

The open-plan living, kitchen and dining area is bright, comfortable and well-equipped, with modern appliances including a washing machine and dishwasher. The property benefits from double glazing, gas central heating, soundproofing and insulation, creating a warm and relaxing space throughout the year.

Free parking scratch cards are provided, allowing guests to unload nearby before parking in the W zones, with the nearest at Khyber Pass just around the corner.

Access is most commonly via Pier Road, where a short flight of stone steps leads up from the harbour. The property can also be reached via The Cragg, although this is a longer walking route.

Please note there is no Wi-Fi at the property, making it an ideal place to switch off and enjoy the surroundings.

An excellent property excellently located. Close to the beach, pier and town. We went for a bank holiday break with two children and will definitely visit again. The property had everything that was advertised and didn’t need anymore than what was there. Overall, a excellent seasides property.

Brilliant short family stay

We stayed for two nights with our two children to explore Whitby. The cottage is fantastic! Really nicely furnished and well equipped and lovely to look out over the harbour and across to the abbey. The location is brilliant, right by the harbourside but still feels nice and peaceful in the cottage.

Great location and nice property. We really enjoyed our stay. Overall would recommend as a place to stay.Just a minor point of feedback to the owner - there are a few nails on some of the gripper rods on the stair carpet that need attention as they are coming through the carpet and 4 of us cut our feet over the weekend. I am sure this can soon be fixed now you know about this issue.thank you

Charachterful property in Whitby. So close to everything yet peaceful and quiet for sleeping. Extremely comfy beds and everything you could want in the kitchen. Very spacious and lovely modern bathroom. Perfect !

The good thing about a review like this is it allows me to point out that it has well of a 90% 10 out of 10 reviews because of its location and views and this customer didn't even realize that it's not advertised with Wi-Fi and they've complained about it. What more is there to say? Either this customer is correct. Or the vast majority of people that stay?

Great little place with a view!

Perfect location! The only comfortable bed and pillows in all of Scotland and England so far! Only one complaint, half a roll of TP for 4 people. Did not want to have to stick around for housekeeper to come so bought some ourselves. Overall would stay again, lovely place!

Grossly disappointed

We arrived in the town at 1:30 as we was to receive the keycode at 2. When we did not receive the key code we tried to contact Stayz but could not get through. We rang the number for the agent we was given 14 times, each time the telco said we dialled a wrong number try again. We went and found the cottage only to discover the cottage had a different name. There was an email address for the owner on the door so we sent them an email but no reply. It was by now getting dark it was raining and bitterly cold. The few business that were open being Christmas eve were starting to close. It was now well after 4 pm so we decided we had better try and find a hotel. After searching around Whitby in north Yorkshire in very inclement weather we found a hotel on top of the hill. After booking in paying for two nights instead of the three we had paid for through Stayz, gratefully retired to bed. At 8:37 pm, 5 hours 37 mins late we was woken by a txt from the agent with the key code.

Hi Janet, I’m very sorry to read that you had such a difficult experience, especially arriving on Christmas Eve in poor weather. I do need to clarify that the property access details are sent through the booking system/channel manager, and the key code and instructions are normally issued clearly in the same way for all guests. I have not had this issue raised by other guests in the same way, so I am genuinely sorry that something clearly went badly wrong in your case. From what you have described, it does sound possible that there may have been confusion over the property location or address, particularly as you mention finding a cottage with a different name. That is obviously very frustrating for everyone involved, and I’m sorry it resulted in such a stressful arrival. Thank you for your feedback. Beautiful Cottage

This cottage was in a perfect location in the centre of Whitby, it was really quite with stunning views of the Abbey. The cottage was super comfortable and had everything you could need for a stay away. I would highly recommend this cottage for a stay in Whitby however long you intend to stay.

Very good space, and a very enjoyable stay. Central location that, although noisy and congested with Sunday visitors on arrival, and having to get over being above amusement arcades, was remarkably quiet and relaxing overnight. Don’t come if you have difficulty with steps as you have a lot to climb inside and outside when you can’t park alongside the property.

I have been letting cottages that I own in Whitby since 2008, and over the years I have built up a real affection for the town, its history and its people.

Whitby is one of the most beautiful old fishing towns in the country, with its harbour, narrow streets, historic yards and unique atmosphere. I love spending time there myself, which is a big part of why I enjoy hosting guests.

As a host, my aim is to offer a comfortable, characterful place to stay where guests can enjoy the real Whitby — not just the main attractions, but the feeling of being part of the old town.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

Whitby has a rare mix of history, character and atmosphere. The old town, harbour, abbey, beaches, independent shops, restaurants and pubs are all close together, which makes it a wonderful place to explore on foot.

I particularly like the older yards and hidden corners of Whitby, where you still get a strong sense of the town’s fishing history. Endeavour Cottage is in one of those special places — tucked away and peaceful, but still just a short walk from the harbour and the heart of the old town.

Endeavour Cottage is a traditional 200-year-old fisherman’s cottage set in a quiet historic yard in the heart of Whitby’s old town.
