We had a great time at St Simonâs Island!
This home is clean, comfortable, and convenient to the village. It has a great fenced yard and is pet friendly. Canât wait to go back
This house was a few short blocks to the beach in a nice, quiet neighborhood and minutes from restaurants and shops. We enjoyed being able to walk most places. We appreciate that it was dog-friendly and had a backyard. WE would recommend it and would stay here again in the future.
Clean, comfortable, pet friendly. Pet fee seemed a bit high, and was not shown on VRBO listing. But the property manager did contact me about the fee prior to finalizing reservation. An outdoor living / sitting area would be nice. Overall quite happy with my stay.
We really enjoyed the island. The house was the perfect size but extremely dated. Ants were very bad in the back yard. This was like going back to the 80s. Really needs to be remodel. The day my wife and daughter got there the grass was 3ft tall and the place looked abandoned. By the time I made it there the grass was cut and yard was cleaned up. We will be coming back to the island but will not be staying here again.
The property was nice and was able to accommodate my fiance, our dog, and me without any issues. It was nice to have a backyard so our dog could walk around freely. Bringing our dog on vacation is a must and it can be difficult finding a house that will accommodate us. Iâm thankful for finding this house at the last minute. The location of the house was ideal for us. We walked to Crabdaddyâs for dinner. My fiance walked to the pier one morning for coffee. Overall, we enjoyed our trip to SSI and will be coming back in the future.
This was closer to the beach than we expected. The walk was super easy. We also drove to other beach access areas and the parking was not a problem. The property was clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay. Great neighborhood for talking walks and located close to shops and restaurants. The place could use some updating but then it would not be as affordable. This was cheaper than renting a hotel room and we had an entire home. I was anticipating some imperfections. We were pleasantly surprised and thought it was a great place to stay for our first visit to St Simon...thank you!
There were bugs there, centipedes I think, and a few spiders. I killed them when they came out so it wasnât a big deal for me. Property was clean otherwise. The AC is also way underpowered for the property. It could not maintain 80 degrees inside when the outside temperature was 92.
Quick and easy checkin/out. 2 blocks from beach access. Close enough to walk to several good restaurants. Rental and entire area is incredibly dog friendly, so our "furry daughter " was able to fully enjoy the island and vacation without being left behind
Property is managed by a real estate agency in town; overall a good setup. Fenced back yard, and quick 2 block walk to the beach (though have to go maybe another 2 blocks over either east or west during high tide). Bathroom and kitchen could use some updating, but has all essentials and appliances fairly well updated. Sitting in the common area is comfortable (one couch and two chairs). Overall a good location for a 1 week stay.
My experience renting this property was fine. The property, especially the bathroom, could really use some renovations. It was very old, the shower faucet was stained.
Location is superb, clean, adequate accommodations at a very reasonable rate, would definitely stay there again. Check in was touch free and simple. Very pleased with this property.
We were 2 blocks from the beach, an easy walk to the Village Pier and to Crab Trap and Crabdaddy's. The house sas super comfortable and we have an older dog and the fenced in back yard was great. If we are staying on St. Simon again I will look to see if this property is available.
My boys and I enjoyed our stay, and the very short walk to the beach was perfect! Our favorite memory will be taking our dog, Spike, to run on the beach after recovering from chemo. This trip was our first after being sheltered In place at home for a month so we will never forget it! We would rent again,
Perfect property for myself my son in his young family, Very short walk to the beach and
a short drive to the lighthouse area and downtown. Bed a little firm, I like soft but that's me. Kitchen equipped with everything you might need. Washing machine a bit noisy but it does the job. My dogs loved running around in the back yard. Short drive to Jekyll Island. Would definitely use again.
While there is a fenced in back yard, the space is only good for dogs. There is a spot for a fire-pit, but the back yard space is not kept at all. Tree limbs at one of the gates leading from the driveway to the back yard.
The house was clean, but the paper towels, toilet paper, and dishwashing pods are not quality. You will want to purchase your own as well as dishwashing liquid and extra dishwashing pods and laundry pods. Do Not use the vacuum - it emits an odor that will take a while to eliminate.
The house is in a good location and easy access to the beach: crossing 2 roads. Check your tidal charts - during high tide you cannot get to the public beach closest to the house so you will need to drive to Massingale Park or East Beach.
Overall, I would increase my rating if Hodnett made the outdoor space inviting for humans and used quality paper products / supplies.
