We got exactly what was described. This is a beautiful home conveniently located within blocks of the plaza. Just a short walk to our favorites...La Cueva, Michaels, all the shops and galleries. You might think there would be noise....only that of the magpies, ravens, and the prairie dogs. The back porch is great, the front gardens beautiful. Just go ahead and book it!
There are so many lovely pieces of pottery, art, and furniture in this house! We loved looking around and seeing yet another gem. The landscaping outdoors is lovely as wellâthe iris were in bloom when we were there. The property is a bit of a walk to townâwith some seniors in our group, we drove. We also learned there are no Ubers or taxis in Taos, so plan to get yourself to/from anywhere you want to go. The beds were comfortable. Plenty of towels in the bathrooms and the kitchen was well stocked, including coffee and sugar. We only stayed 2 nights; I could easily see staying for a week.
This home is absolutely amazing! Everything in and around the house has been done intentionally and beautifully! My family and I enjoyed our time here and would recommend it without hesitation! We look forward to spending another vacay here! The house is even better than we expected! We really enjoyed the prairie dog family!
This beautiful house is set off the road and has views of mountains. The interior is furnished with authentic New Mexico style furniture. The kitchen and dining area are large, well equipped and can accommodate family style dining. We found the heated floor a nice extra in the winter.
An absolutely stunning home filled with natural light, showcasing beautiful artwork from around the world that added a unique and cultural charm. The spacious layout and large sunny areas created a warm, restful, and inviting atmosphere. Walking distance to galleries, shops, and wonderful restaurants. Stunning views of the mountains. James and Monica, our hosts, were accessible and graciously provided us with tips on restaurants, shopping, and local sights. A perfect retreat for relaxation and inspiration!
This home was nicer than expected. Location was perfect, condition upon arrival was pristine, decor was gorgeous right down to the beautiful dishes, and everything was in working order. As a bonus, the prairie dog colony entertained us each morning and evening.
The house is located close enough to the plaza that you can walk to the action, but is on a big lot and set back - itâs nice and quiet. You can watch the sunrise from the back patio - beautiful! We had a wonderful stay. The six of us had plenty of room. The living and dining areas encourage conversation. Weâd love to stay again.
This property is in a quiet neighborhood and has a great collection of artifacts. Central courtyard and yoga space were greatly appreciated. Mabel Dodge Luhan house is nearby for those interested in art and NM history.
The property was clean, spacious and comfortable. We loved the radiant heat from the floors. It was close to the middle of town and and a small park with views of the mountains.
Everyone who visited during our 2-week stay loved the house and said it feels like being in the country though it's right in town. The main drag (Paseo del Norte/Sud) is a short walk away through Kit Carson Park. Days were warm in July but nights were cool and we didn't even use the A/C. The house is well-designed with bedrooms (great beds!) in a separate wing from the living/kitchen area and lots of comfortable seating for reading and watching the ever-changing sky -- not to mention the prairie dogs. Responsive owners. A great VRBO find.
Perfect place. Easy walk to the square, quiet neighborhood with an historic home down the street. Great rooms and plenty of area to stretch out. Enjoyed sitting outside and relaxing. Best rental for me in Taos and Santa Fe.
Beautiful house in perfect location. We enjoyed watching the prairie dogs and bird life, and walking into town. Beds very comfortable. House well equipped and pleasant to relax in. We really enjoyed our stay. Thank you!
This place was absolutely amazing. The photos do not do it justice. My friends and I stayed here for 3 days and had an awesome time. It is so close to town and felt super safe. The hosts were so accommodating and we could not be more grateful for our time spent in this beautiful home.
James & Monica Smits are the owners of Aspen Traders in Leadville, CO. Both of us grew up in Colorado and have fond memories of coming to Taos as children. We are inspired by the foods, fashion, arts & culture of Northern New Mexico. James has been a potter for over 40 years and continues to work gradually, focusing primarily on stoneware functional ware. Much of the work in the Taos hacienda kitchen is made by James. Monica puts her creative energy into designing our stores and living spaces. Color and light are her inspiration.
This house sits on a large lot near undeveloped Taos Pueblo lands so it is generally very quiet (unless there is a concert in Kit Carson Park, which is fun in a different way). You are close enough to walk to the Adobe Bar at the Taos Inn for their famous Margaritas and Free Live Music every night of the year (take a small flashlight, the lane can be dark). This property is only a block away from Mable Dodge Luhan house (Dennis Hopper's Mud Palace) where you might enjoy getting brunch (reservations required). My favorite aspect of the house is watching birds, bunnies and prairie dogs while the clouds float over the mountains all around.
