We had a great time staying here at Folly! It was good for a large group and had everything youâd need for a beach trip. Really enjoyed the deck and yard. Would visit again!
We celebrated my father's 80th birthday here, bringing in family from all over the US. It had ample space for us all, close to the beach, yet far enough from town to be away from traffic. We love Charleston in general and the week was fantastic.
Beautiful home in a Great location. Owner was always available if needed. Easy check in and check out. We had a small issue with the A/C and immediately the owner had someone out to the house to correct it. I would definitely stay again
We chose this property because it had the number of rooms we needed for our family of 11. As advertised, the home is about 100 yards from the beach. The home has a rustic feel to it, but that lends to the beach vibe that this community offers. Very quiet neiborhood. We had all the amenities we needed, including all the beach equipment and games. The beach here is not the best, but it was good enough for a week stay. If you have a large family or friends this is a good home to rent.
This home is older and not as functional as we thought. The kitchen is located downstairs so not on the main level of the home. The property manager was nice to let us bring our dog. We had some miscommunication with the listing saying it was a dog friendly home and it actually generates as a dog friendly home when you search for it on VRBO but in the description of the home it is not dog friendly anymore. The decor is cute and shabby chic. The kitchen needs some help with cooking tools/knives, and baking ware. I communicated all of this to the manager. Also, we were without a washing machine, it was broken... This was communicated before arrival but no credit was given to us for this inconvenience. Overall, the home was okay. We like more of a view and a more updated home for our liking.
Had a really lovely stay here. House was comfortable and had enough room for our large group. Access to the beach was great and the porch made for a fantastic spot for morning coffee. Marcie was super responsive and accommodating. Would happily stay here again.
What a nice place to unwind and enjoy Folly! The house is an older beach house with old oak floors and shiplap walls. Furniture is eclectic and mismatched but it works somehow. Color scheme and artwork are charming. Beach accessories and chairs are plentiful, and it's a short walk to the sand and surf. The yard and the shady oaks in the back are gorgeous. If you're looking for a McMansion or an upscale home, this isn't the place for you, but if you want someplace cozy, clean and comfortable with tons of personality to unwind with family and friends, this is your place. One note and totally not the fault of the owner: On this end of Folly, there are rock walls on the beach to prevent erosion. If you love an unobstructed view, you'll need to go to the southwestern end of the island. That was our only major disappointment, but again, that's an issue independent of the house.
This couldnât have been a more perfect house for me and my family to celebrate my college graduation. We will forever remember this weekend, and this house!
I visited with a group of friends, and we were immediately charmed by the house. There was plenty of space to hang out and relax, and beach access was very easy.
The pros: very charming house,, close to the beach, lots of different rooms (with doors!) for various members to hang out in. Updated kitchen and bathrooms. Ample parking.
The cons: several of the appliances either didnât work at all (drink fridge in wet bar) or had issues (main refrigerator, microwave, washer). Texted with property owner and she wasnât aware of the issues, pledged to hire someone the following week to look at them. Also much of the inside upholstered furniture is sagging, porch furniture pillows are torn/soiled. Not a deal breaker but not as polished as the pictures lead you to believe.
Beach access is a few doors down the street- still a short 100 steps but not 50 steps as described.
I would recommend this place assuming that appliance issues are fixed.
A beautiful vacation spot to rest and relax. Lots of space to spread out in! All you really need is your toothbrush!
Beach Chairs and outdoor sand toys were available which was nice.
It's just a great family home!
We enjoyed our stay!
Marcieâs property was everything we expected and more. Just steps to the beach, this house was beyond convenient if youâre going to be spending days at the beach. The area of beach this house is by was quieter compared to other parts of the beach we saw, which was nice. The house itself had all the beachy feels and was clean and comfortable. We all said we would definitely return to this beautiful property if we return to visit Charleston!
Good Golly, Miss Folly was the ideal place to hold our recent family reunion. The house was roomy enough for all of us and the location was ideal. Marcie is a terrific hostess who helped us out with recommendations. We would definitely stay there again.
We loved this house! It has the perfect shabby chic beachy feel, with a view of the ocean and the beach right across the street. We celebrated my daughterâs Sweet 16 with a group of her friends, and the floor plan allowed all of them to sleep in one room, with plenty of room to spread out downstairs. Marcie was great to work with. She was quick to respond, and even let us add our Lab to the party last minute. The house is thoughtfully equipped with all you need. We truly felt like a guest in her home. Thank you! We would love to come back.
This beach house was pleasant. Good location, about a mile from the pier. It was a little dated. The lower level shower couldn't be adjusted for warm water, either hot or cold? Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to any family.
