Relaxing escape. Spend days on the water and nights by the fire at this quaint cottage. The best of summer and winter. Right on a small quiet fishing lake and near several all sports lakes, golf courses, hiking trails. and ORV trails. In the winter adjacent to snowmobile trails and surrounded by ski resorts. Just a short drive from everything northern Michigan has to offer. A true gem!
This was a great stay! Peacefully lake, had kayaks and paddle boat. Hocking trails in the other side of the lake.
The house had all the basic necessities.
Exactly what I needed/wanted for my long weekend getaway. What Up North has always been to me. A cabin/small house that was built years ago with some updates. It still has the Up North charm being in the woods, on the water and not being a huge modern house like I live in at home.
If you want to escape the craziness every day life, this is the place to stay. Itâs by hiking trails, 1.5 hours from the UP and so many other natural beauties of our state/
This home and the hosts were excellent! The property was just as described and perfect to serve as a home base for exploring the area, but also comfortable with plenty of amenities to stay in and relax inside or out on the beautiful property and lake. Communication with the host was easy and all of our questions were answered in a timely manner. Check in instructions and other relevant information were provided in advance of our arrival, and the host shared a phone number for easy texting/calling in case additional contact needed to be made during our stay. Overall this cabin was exceptionally clean, comfortable, and made for a perfect spot to rest, relax, and unwind during our long weekend stay in the area. We especially enjoyed the fire pit! Would love to return and would definitely recommend.
The cabin was just perfect. It had everything we needed! I was worried about no air. It was so shaded and cool in the evenings, it was great. I have never stayed at a more peaceful place. A lot of times the loons were the only noises you heard at night. My kids loved the paddle boat. We all caught fish. The fire pit right by the water was probably my favorite. Everyday we traveled to see thingsâŠsand dunes, Mackinac island,,Gaylord call of the wild, Traverse City mini golf and old mission store, pictured rocks, Alden, Bellaire. I wish the weather would have cooperated for Torch Lake it is absolutely gorgeous. Kate was great with communication and so helpful!! Oh how I miss it already.
Overall, our stay was very pleasant. The neighborhood is very quiet and we had a great time swimming in the lake. The host provides a paddle boat and kayaks that were a lot of fun too. A few things that would have been helpful to know are: 1.) We have Verizon cell service and it was VERY spotty. 2.) The decline to the water from the cabin is pretty steep. Take note if you have anyone who may have issues with uneven stairs. 3.) There's no AC. I knew this was a possibility going into it, but we had some pretty hot days in the house. As I mentioned though, this is a very nice property on a very quiet lake - we had a great time.
BEWARE*** Of the peeling Pleather couch! On the paperwork inside it says the AC works but there is no air conditioner to be found. It got so hot in there the Pleather couch started peeling. My son was tossing and turning laying on it and it peeled. Then my grandson ran a matchbox car along back of it and it peeled. She is charging me a hefty fee. Accused me of having more then 6 people. Then said something about this old delapidated closet door that came off the tract. Believe me I always make sure I take good care of a place I stay in but never in my wildest dreams did I think a couch start peeling!!!!!! Our first night we had some obnoxious drunks next door. She has firewood that costs a fortune. Do not recommend.
Kate was great to deal with, cabin was great.
If there was any not perfect comments, the cabin could have used a few more amenities, (Toilet paper, kleenex, aluminum foil so you know what to pack and what not to pack), and maybe less stuff left in the refrigerator and freezer, it was hard to get all of our supplies in there.
The cabin was clean and located in a quiet neighborhood. It was decorated nicely and we easily relaxed both inside and outside of the property. The two fire pit areas were great and we really liked all the outdoor lighting. We also liked how the bedding was folded up on each bed and we could see how clean the mattress pads were. The paddle boat and kayaks are nice additions as well.
We did not swim in this lake. It is weedy and the lake is very small and the cabin is located at an end where it is very shallow. Without much boating activity it is expected that given the hot weather the water vegetation was plentiful. We went to starvation lake and manistee lake to swim.
Some suggestions would be more than 6 towels. We had to do laundry everyday and the washer and dryer are located in a bedroom. With no air conditioning and hot weather, it made it worse. There was only one 6 inch fan provided for the whole cabin. No one slept in the bunk bed because it was too hot to be on the top and too stuffy to be on the bottom. 84 degrees inside was stifling. The freezer was full of food. So it left very little room in it for our frozen items. We werenât sure if it was previous renters that housekeeping didnât clean out.
Overall, this place is such a peaceful place. We loved drinking our morning coffee and having afternoon cocktails on the deck overlooking this secluded lake. Itâs a wonderful place to gather your thoughts and have a memorable time. Thank you for being per friendly!!
This was the perfect getaway for our family. The house is on a small lake with only maybe 15 other houses. It was so peaceful. The property is well maintained, the host was great with communication, and we had a great time. Would definitely stay again!
We had a great long weekend. They let us check in anytime Thursday which we were so happy for. The outside is beautiful with the lakefront and fire pit. Great location to trails. Would go again!
