Pros: Location is wonderful. Shops, restaurants, food stores, galleries, coffee shops, etc are all within very easy walking distance. Location is above a store front in downtown Hilo. Pro and Con: Parking. Yes, it is available but on busy public streets and you have to be comfortable with finding it and ignoring the restrictions which we were told are never enforced. They were not enforced during our stay. So the Con is the surprise of this, but it worked out fine.Con: AC is located in one bedroom area and needed to run all night. So using this bed means AC blowing all night in this area to cool the whole apt.Semi-Con: The beds are separated by a combination wall and curtain. Close enough to hold hands through the curtain.
We only needed beds for one night and this worked out well for us. Communication with the owner was excellent. The location was perfect. We arrived after most business on the street were closed, so parking was easy to find. We left before sunrise to get an early start on our sightseeing and drive back to Kona.
We wanted a location in downtown Hilo and near the airport. This place was both those things. Communication was poor and we had trouble getting in as it wasn't coded to the passcode we were given. Luckily, the store owner below the place hadn't left for the day and she helped us communicate and get in.
Pros: Super cute and convenient location, with a full kitchen and water dispenser. Cons: Beds were a bit firm, many stairs and floor levels. Worst part was the noise outside... I stayed on a Monday night and the speakeasy directly across the small street had loud patrons until 2am. Then the garbage truck around 2:45am, then delivery drivers parking right under the window by 6am blasting their radio. Glad I was only there one night.
We were happy to find a place to stay in Hilo during Merrie Monarch because our trip came up late to help at an event. The loft is conveniently located, well kept and stocked with everything one could need. There were even extra cords for phones and a night light. Beds were comfortable. Fans in both rooms kept us cool at night. Important (we think) for folks renting this loft. The floors are uneven which was a bit of a challenge and the door to the entrance to the bath is small for larger humans. If noise is an issue, this place is not quiet at night, and one morning the street cleaner woke us at 5:30 am. We used the Alexa for soft music so that helped. Again this is a good location, clean and well-stocked for needs so we recommend with note of a couple of things. We mahalo this owner
Perfect location, perfect accommodations, big kitchen - lots of room. Center of everything in Hilo. Perfect place with great Air Conditioning and awesome host.
Hilo is a small town, but staying here puts you right in the heart of their walkable downtown. Itâs very basic accommodations, but I found the apartment to be clean and suitable for my needs.
Nice that it was downtown had fun with speaking with locals and the around. But the last day-night I stayed started having a problem with ants. Also do know there is no tv in this loft
This is the second time i've stayed in this apartment. Its a great location close to the theatre and everything downtown. Very clean space and Easy parking. Its nothing fancy, very casual, but perfect for us coming over from Kona for a night or 2.
This was the cleanest and best managed place weâve ever rented! The host was great about communicating and everything was clear. Far better than a hotel. We loved all the extra amenities and care the host put into the property. Close to beaches and great for walking around. We would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone else staying in the area. We were sad to leave and hope to stay there again soon.
The KTA store was close by and the communication with HOST was good and comfortable.
However, I was concerned that my car was scratched in a parking space on the side of the road and that there were small ants at the desk.
Major road construction, 6p to 6a. No mention whatsoever by the host. Poor communication. Funky cat smell. Running out of characters but the list is long.
Being locals from Kaneohe, we were given the opportunity to play tourist for a few days. Because of the ideal location here in Hilo town, The Queens Loft made it easy for us to play that roll. Our major function on this trip was for a family reunion in Kurtistown, in other words, it was back to being locals. We were also here in January and wasnât disappointed then and now. We look forward to our next visit here and will definitely recommend this place to our family and friends.
