The cottage was exactly what we needed for our Cooperstown stay. Location was perfect. Not over the top fancy, but gave us all we wanted and needed after our long days at the baseball field. Super close to store and gas station for those easy daily needs. Beautiful hidden gem view at the back of the property!Host was so easy to communicate with for questions and we had a great time!!
Air conditioners did not work, no water pressure at all after self clean it was left dirty and crumbs on floor when checked in, grill was nothing but discussing bottom was rusted out made dew as all food was for grilling. And smelled musty.
Great location - 1 mile to Cooperstown village/ HOF and about 12 min to Dreams ParkâŠI chose it for proximity to Dreams Park and because it was âpet friendlyâ Owner asked me to keep dog out of the bedrooms i wasnt using and quizzed me about breed/ âis he hypoallergenic?â Specific rules about where on the property dog can go to the bathroom (tall grass on edge of yard), no dogs on furnitureâŠnot exactly hospitable to pets..perhaps shes had experience with disrespectful ownersâŠoverall place is adequateâŠwifi works wellâŠhouse is a bit damp and a bit buggyâŠthere was a time in my life i would have left and gone elsewhere but it worked well enoughâŠno towels providedâŠ.no dishwasherâŠguests are expected to wash dishes and clean up after they leaveâŠeverything in the kitchen was just a bit stickyâŠowner was very responsive and honestly nothing was so bad that it was worth making a stink but just know what you are gettingâŠits not luxury, its not super comfortable but if you want a place that sleeps several people and is close to the activities in Cooperstown it works quite well
The retreat served as a great spot for our family of 5 while visiting our parents and family in Cooperstown. The house was well equipped with everything we needed and the outdoor space was expansive. Roberta was very responsive and made us feel right at home. We hope to be back in the future.
An excellent property conveniently located to all that Cooperstown has to offer. Lots of backyard to play or relax. Minutes to Baseball HOF, 10 minutes to Cooperstown Dreams Park. Host Roberta was accommodating and responsive. We felt very welcome and comfortable. It was perfect for our family of 4 + sheepadoodle.
I recently stayed at one of Roberta's properties for the last week of the Cooperstown Tournament. The location was very close to Dreams Park, probably about a 10-12 minute ride, it was very easy to get to. The House was very clean and spacious. I would definitely recommend staying here for vacation or if your kids are in the Dream Park Tournament. Roberta was also available (cell & text) whenever we had questions. We ended up staying at the Red House (Cottage).
Unfortunately, my stay at the cottage or the retreat was cut short by bad weather
The place was adequate and very clean
I was a little taken back by the rules.
It is requested that the place be well cleaned when you leave, at least, that was my interpretation. For me, the purpose of going on vacation is so that I donât have to clean.
There was a mildew smell that was mitigated with the windows opened. But unfortunately I couldnât close two of the windows, and it did become cold at night.
The host was lovely and very responsive to my texts prior to renting the cottage.
Not luxurious by any means. It is rustic, be prepared for bugs, its woodsy. You are in a great location to downtown Cooperstown, within 10 mins to the dreams park and close to grocery store. We had the best location compared to our other families. House does have some drawbacks. Area is very humid in the summer, making the house damp and musty. Air conditioners do work well! Main bathroom window did not close. It is screened, but cannot close. We just kept the door closed so not to lose our air conditioning. Master bathroom shower is tiny. Most men would have trouble showering in it, not a deal breaker by any means and it was nice to have 2 bathrooms. Furniture is not the most comfortable for lounging as it's wicker, but we only used it for short periods of time. All 3 bedroom doors had trouble closing. One bedroom door handle came off, we put it back on. Washer and dryer were great. Kitchen is small but very well appointed. Overall clean property and nicely decorated. Our boys loved going down to the river and playing in the large yard. Roberta was very nice, she stopped by while we were there. We would stay again!
Host was extremely gracious and welcoming. Communication throughout the process was excellent and accommodated a desperate request for an early check-in. The host also recommended the restaurant, Origins, which serves life-changing paninis and only a œ mile away. Would absolutely stay again.
Adequately decorated but this place does not live up to the name âRetreatâ. Mildew and bugs left us wishing we were elsewhere. There was no joy staying here in a high-humidity month and after perhaps not being used much. Spiders were plentiful and kept returning. Unfortunately, it was too late to make another lodging arrangement. If you are immune to smells of mildew or mold, bugs, bites, and damp clothes, carpets, towels, this place might not be for you. We used an indoor bug zapper and lots of charcoal bags to make it bearable. The bug zapper crackled like a campfire all night. Check out reviews throughly for any common themes to make an informed decision. We learned a lot in retrospect.
Well, lets see..., architectural designer, painter, ceramicist, builder, visual explorer....wanderer! A lifelong (almost!) resident of the beautiful Cooperstown rolling hills and ...THE LAKE!!!!! My Zen place.
