We stayed here as a family and it could not have been more beautiful. The house is a gem tucked away in Vermont with a calming river in the back for relaxing days on the deck, but well positioned so that days in the city are always an option. Heather was always reachable to help us with any questions. If you want a nice quiet getaway this is the perfect place.
I had seen the pictures and read the description of the property and still it exceeded my expectations. The approach to the house lets you know this is something special. As you turn in past the split rail fence you head towards the river and circle back to the house across a beautifully maintained, expansive lawn. Opening the door of my car I was immediately aware of the sound of rushing water, the river is right there and it is stunning. I wasn't sure what to expect of a repurposed church. I thought that the interior space might feel cavernous and cold, especially in November, but not all. The fireplace in the great room is beautiful with a raised hearth that invites you to sit by it. Around the fire the furniture is stylish with out being too precious.
This is truly a great party house with a shuffleboard table and ring toss on the wall. However when it comes to entertaining it is the kitchen that really stands out. I have never worked in a kitchen with a better layout than this one and I left with ideas for a kitchen that I am designing.
It was November so we didnât really explore the river but my daughter, who goes to Middlebury, invited some friends over and they enjoyed the hot tub. The kids also said that in warmer weather there is a swimming hole just down the road that is popular with Middlebury students.
I couldnât recommend this house more highly and for Middlebury families it is around 10 minutes to campus.
