We enjoyed our 4 night stay in this small cabin. The owner pays attention to every detail to make a clean and comfortable stay. It has the feel of a magical hobbit hole with dainty windows and cozy furniture. All necessities were provided.
The Hosts live next door and they're very welcoming. The cabin is on the lakefront. 2 bedrooms and 1 bath. There is a boat available that you can use for gas money. They even gave us bait. Very nice for two couples and our dogs.
Everything about our stay was wonderful! We loved getting to know Kierstin and Tom - they were so friendly, informational, and helpful with tons of tips around the area. The surrounding area is stunning and relaxing. Sitting on the dock in the early morning and watching the sunset in the evening!! The home is sweet and cozy. Highly recommend!! Should we ever return to the Keweenaw Peninsula, we would absolutely stay here again. 10/10!
The cabin was cozy, cute and everything we needed. We saw waterfalls, hiked,Delaware mine, good food. Thimbleberry margaritas in Calumet and just plain relaxing. We didn't take advantage of the lake but it was nice to look at.
Beautiful cabin. It was very clean and comfortable. The owners were amazing! We will definitely stay there againagain!Everything we could possibly need was there.
We had a wonderful weekend filled with beautiful hiking, relaxing atmosphere on the lake, and delicious food. We also met Tom who gave us excellent local recommendations of places to visit. Thank you for your kindness and hospitality!
Kierstin and Tom had doors open upon our arrival. Due to previous rainy days we used their driveway, their house is just next door. The kitchen had recently been remodeled and it was very nice and had just about everything you would need. Some of the fry pans could be replaced but was very excited about the great coffee pot they had.The bathroom is on the small side but it worked; with exception of the door knob falling off. We all had a good laugh about that. I would recommend putting up a toilet paper holder or floor standing one somewhere for better accessibility. The decor was so nice and everything was clean. We may have been an exception of normal guests as my husband is handicapped so I look for different safety aspects than others. My greatest concern is the front steps going into cabin, but we managed that too. The railing is on the opposite side that the door opens from so it didnât provide much safety or assistance for anyone coming into cabin. Again, it all worked out.We had a comfortable stay and enjoyed our conversations with both of them. We saw wonderful wildlife as we sat on the back porch. We hopefully will make a return visit next year.
This place was amazing and the host are great people and let us know what to do around town and even let us know about some good spots to see definitely recommend it we will be back!
I highly recommend staying at this cabin! It's clean and a very nice spot just to relax by the lake awesome sunset views and star gazing from the chairs they have setup on the dock! My kids had a blast swimming every day and the hosts Tom and Kierstin are the best very friendly people and they made sure we had everything we needed and they even did some extra stuff for us that they didn't have too. Thank you both for the best vacation my family and I have had in years!
We enjoyed this cozy cabin on Portage Lake near Calumet. It was nice to have access to a boat for fishing and kayaks which we took advantage of. Good leaping off point to explore the rest of the Keweenaw Peninsula.
Kierstin and Tom have done a fantastic job remodeling this small cabin on their property on the lake. Great location, peaceful surroundings, and amazing hosts- what else can you ask for? Highly recommended!
Cabin is super clean, cute decor and very thoughtful in regards to what it has for guests to use. Felt very comfortable staying there. Owners are friendly and helpful if needed.
My dad and I stayed for 3 nights while visiting my son at Michigan Tech. It was a lovely, quiet area. The cabin was clean and I loved the old with new look. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom is very small but clean. The property was amazing to exercise my 1.5 yo chocolate lab. She was able to chase a ball up and down the lane and in the lake. We enjoyed our stay very much. One thing, bring soap. Otherwise, very well stocked.
We loved the mix of old and new in this property. We didnât get to enjoy the relaxation since we used it as a home base for our wedding down the road, but we would definitely come back because it had everything we would need!
The owners were perfect hosts, helping us find activities that were exactly what we were looking for. When hanging out at the cabin, we enjoyed the lake, kayaking and relaxing campfires. The cabin was amazingly clean and had everything we needed. We couldnât have asked for a better location or hosts! Thank you, Kierstin and Tom!
Tom was born here, left for college and returned in 1995 with his wife, Kierstin, who was born and raised in Alaska. They each have their own businesses in the area along with the cabin rental.
We accept dogs. Plenty of room. Just ask they do biz on the road side, not the water/grassy side as it kills grass and always picked up after. Always keep them leashed or tethered as other dogs are in the area. Trees available for runners.
