We loved this Loggerhead Clay Condo. Was everything we hoped and dreamed it would be. Very spacious and confortable unit. Host Michael made us feel very welcome.

Found this condo on a spur of the moment trip last week. We have always loved Loggerhead Cay and were anxious to get back. 533 was a wonderful unit. The owners have done a great job getting things ready to welcome back renters! Kitchen is stocked with all things needed to eat in. The extra bedroom now has a hideaway bed along with the bigger bed. Both were comfy according to our boys. There were 2 really nice beach chairs and a couple others that were useable. My suggestion is to order one of the tents that you can pack. We bought one for this trip and it was great! A tent is a must in the afternoon sun! There were also beach towels which was so nice. They can take up a lot of room in your suitcase. The owner was very nice and easy to message with. We would definitely recommend this condo and will definitely be renting it again!
Rental was as advertised. Nice sized condo, at a beautiful location. Bathrooms were dark and outdated but as pictured. Easy access to beach even with little kids. Owner was great to work with. Will be coming back to beautiful Sanibel!
Overall, we had a nice week at this property. The location near the pool and beach access was great. The new lanai furniture was very comfortable with a beautiful view. The new windows were also nice. We appreciated the lanai being screened in as the bugs can be annoying. The king-size bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable and the sheets were very nice. (I'm actually looking to buy them somewhere online.) Usually, the bed's comfort can be an issue when staying in a an unfamiliar place, even hotels. So it was a pleasant surprise to find such a comfy mattress. The parking space was awesome as it was the first one next to the elevator. It was nice having beach towels and chairs supplied as well.
Now, a bit of downside news. As we approached the front door upon arrival, we saw that the screen on the door was propped up against the wall. No biggie but not a good first impression. (Btw, it was never repaired in the week we were there.) We looked in the refrigerator and it was not clean. The shelves had old food caked on them and we found a couple of dark hairs also. My husband and I had to spend at least 35 minutes cleaning and sanitizing the whole thing. Also, the bathrooms are outdated as noted before in other reviews, but the bathtubs were not clean. There was a long hair in the master bath and some mold. There were beach chairs and an umbrella supplied, so on our first day down at the beach, we discovered that the umbrella was broken. So we couldn't stay at the beach without it as I have had skin cancer and need to have shade. We reported it to Michael and we then had to rent an umbrella for the rest of the week. Michael (the owner) did reimburse us for that rental which was nice. We would rent this property again as long as they updated the old bathrooms. As I said, the location is wonderful and the Loggerhead Cay property itself is very beautiful.
We enjoyed the condo and location access to the beach was excellent. The condo was clean and as all beach condos some repairs were needed. None of the issues caused any problems and we will stay at this condo again.
Here's just the facts (opinion at the end):
1. Kitchen & living area modern & updated. Kitchen not well appointed if you're a cook eating in. No electric kettle or tea kettle, limited pots and pans and gadgets. They left us only 2 dishwasher pods and a 1/4 roll of paper towels and 2 garbage bags. So, you'll need to get supplies at the grocery store. Also 1/4 roll of toilet paper is all there was in the bathrooms and a new bar of soap, no shampoo, etc. Come prepared or go shopping.
2. Bathrooms not updated but not a big deal
3. Beds are not comfortable (as some reviews said). The mattresses are worn. Bedding and towels are great and plenty of them, including beach towels. Pillows comfy. Great black out curtains to keep it cool and to sleep in. 2nd bdrm has a twin bed and a full sized bed, so I'm glad my husband couldn't make it as the full sized bed would not work.
4. Owner provides umbrella and beach chairs and net for shelling
5. Screened patio is great with ocean views
6. We didn't use the pool, but it seemed lovely and they have dedicated lap swim times. It was not loud (as some pools are)
7. The complex is very quiet and peaceful and right on the beach for your daily dose. Great foot shower on the path to clean sand off on your way back.
8. Saturday of our stay they were replacing the windows right above us. We could not be there all day. VERY loud. This cannot be avoided (and is NOT the owners fault or in their control), but a heads up of the maintenance or a discount for that day would have been lovely. We would have planned an outing for that day.
9. The owner has lots of games and puzzles for rainy days or evenings when you've had enough sun. The dining room is great.
10. Parking: FYI: You are allowed 2 cars. One is a dedicated spot for that condo and then the 2nd can park in a guest space.
11. Lots of bike racks for renting a bike on the island, which I recommend. Just $50 for the week and they come pick it up at the end of your stay.
THAT WAS THE FACTS, HERE'S MY OPINION:
I would absolutely go back. We loved our stay, despite some hicups. The location with easy walk to a non-crowded quiet beach, the condo, the complex, the owner and communicating with them was all great. I am a little spoiled from past rentals where the bathroom toiletries were well appointed and the kitchen was well stocked with gadgets etc. But those are minor minor personal preference items. I only wish the beds were more comfortable.
The location was beautiful, the property/grounds were lovely, and the condo was very comfortable. The manager was most helpful and friendly. My only let-down and reason for not giving 5 stars was my disappointment in the bathrooms. They definitely need updating.
Although they were clean, the rust and deterioration in the door panels to tub and shower were unpleasant. My stay was otherwise ery restful. Sanibel is a beautiful place.
Fresh updated and decorated condo right on the pristine white beach with partial sea view from the screened lanai. Spacious with everything needed including beach chairs etc. Great condo and owner so highly recommended. We have already booked our next stayâŠ
We had a great time staying here on sanibel! We loved how close the beach and pool are to the condo. The beach was beautiful and there are soooo many shells, which was a lot of fun for us. We love Florida in the summer so we can just live in the warm water! We saw starfish, sting rays, and dolphins right on this beach! We went with our 3 and almost 1 year old, so being able to go out for short spurts and come back for naps and meals was important so we could actually have a relaxing vacation! It was easy to set the condo up with a safe baby proofed space in the living room, and having a HUGE master bedroom made family bed time doable. Everything was very nice and clean, and the owners were responsive and accommodating. We would definitely come back again!
As is usual for Sanibel condo rentals, I had a Saturday after4pm checkin and the âKeys to your condoâ email I received stated âowner has not yet supplied infoâ. I assumed that this would be like where I had stayed just 3 weeks before with a manned office to hand out keys and info. We had been by this place before and knew there were offices but, unfortunately we discovered the offices were not open at all on the weekend. I tried calling the owner of the condo and left ever more desperate messages as the night wore on. I called several emergency numbers associated with the condo office and association and received no answer. I called VRBO and the phone rang into eternity with no answer. The reason I had been staying on Sanibel was that my husband and I were purchasing and remodeling a home. The home on the island had just been vacated by an elderly person who left it rather dirty with broken down furniture. It is to under go a complete renovation before we move in. We ended up spending the night in this home on dirty old sofas. The next morning I was able to get someone at VRBO who after several attempts got the code from the owner. Both VRBO and the owner blame the mix up on each other. The owner did give me a partial refund and the condo was actually pretty nice. Furniture wears out quickly in these rentals but well supplied and well decorated. Bathrooms are way over due for major update and improved lighting.
But after all that okay.
We had a wonderful week on Sanibel! This condo was perfect for our family of four. It's bright and spacious, with an ocean view, and steps from the beach. It's also in an ideal location, within minutes of many restaurants, bike rental, the lighthouse, ice cream, grocery stores, and shops. Just loved it!!!
Condo is beautiful! Well maintained and well stocked for your stay. Property is on the beach, which is steps away. Can also view beach from lanai.Condo is also a short bike ride or walk to several restaurants. Check in was a breeze. Appreciated the advice from owners regarding restaurants and attractions. Hope to return again!!
We stayed at Loggerhead Cay in July and thoroughly enjoyed Sanibel. I would describe the condo as adequate. On the plus side, the beach is pristine and the owner gave fabulous tips of where to go, what to do, and places to eat. All of her suggestions were fantastic! On the negative side, the bathrooms are small and a little dated. The beach chairs and umbrella that are included per the description were not great--you may want to pick up your own at the Wal Mart on the other side of the causeway. I also felt like security lighting was an issue. The pool area is completely dark at night and the light outside the front door did not work. Having said all of this, we spent very little time in the condo since we were constantly exploring the island. It definately served its purpose.
We loved the loggerhead cay condos. love being close to the beach.
Love this property. Close to beach so can spend parts of the day and go back to the condo for lunch and then head back to the beach. Also love the swimming pool and shuffleboard.
My family has been going to Sanibel since 1977. We have 47 years of memories on this enchanted island. Hurricane Ian did a number on the island. Our complex was lucky to be able to get up and running before others.
Loggerhead Cay cannot be more accessible to anyone wanting a Gulf Front Vacation. Also, the grounds of this property are maintained so perfectly you would think it was the grounds of some Royal Palace. For this reason we bought a unit at Loggerhead Cay over any other complex on Sanibel.
It is very easy to get to. The beach on this part of the island is arguably the best. Ohh, and Unit 533 assigned parking spot is directly next to the ramp and stairs to the elevator.
My wife Diane is an interior designer and we have created a pretty cool space. It may not be for everyone, but most like it.
