A short drive from St Rémy and the landscapes of Les Alpilles, stay at this elegant 5-bedroom country house with a glorious garden and swimming pool, ideal for visiting the many gems of Provence.
Following a sensitive renovation, the owners of Maison Centurion have created a beautiful home with style and character. The gracefully designed house has been furnished with flair and refinement featuring a blend of contemporary and antique pieces, whilst artwork and books add to the charming ambience. There is air-conditioning throughout and all five pretty bedrooms have their own modern bath/shower room.
Sit beneath the wisteria-clad pergola for al-fresco meals looking out towards the vast garden with all the sights and scents of Provence â cypress trees, boxwood, oleander and summer lavender. Dip into the gorgeous 17m long swimming pool as you soak up these idyllic surroundings.
Passing countryside scenery and farmland, a traditional village is only 3km away with its restaurants, café bars and little Thursday morning market. Driving south, you will soon reach bustling St Rémy-de-Provence (7km) famed for its Van Gogh heritage, art galleries, authentic restaurants and wonderful Wednesday morning market that attracts visitors from across the region.
Heading to the heart of Les Alpilles, passing olive groves, forests and idyllic limestone valleys, come across gems such as Les Baux-de-Provence, Maussane-les-Alpilles and EygaliÚres. Slightly further afield, venture to the art galleries and Roman sites of Arles, the gateway to the Camargue, or soak up the rich history of Avignon, Nimes and Le Pont du Gard.
Meanwhile, admire the antique stores and waterways of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and canoe along the Sorgue near Fontaine-de-Vaucluse.
