Authentic Catalan Home with Private Pool - Near Barcelona

Cal de Mestrán is the perfect option for a big family or two groups of friends, if you want to combine a stay in a privately situated typical Catalan limestone house with swimming pool, with proximity to Barcelona.

It is amazing to find this beautiful spot on a top of a hill, in the much populated surroundings of Barcelona and the area is also protected by the Catalan government. After passing a quarter of villas on the hill, a short gravel road will take to the house with no nearby neighbours. From the house, there are several walks described in a book in the house, and if you want to explore Barcelona, you can either drive in 30-45 minutes depending on the traffic, or take the train.

The house is situated parallel to the hillside. To the left, you find the covered barbecue area and several beautiful spots with tables and chairs, so you can eat outside, where it suits you the best. Also in this level, you find the cosy area for small children, with playground, playhouse and a lot of toys. The view is excellent. For the bigger children (and childish adults), there is an activity hall with billiards and table football, and also some petanque balls for outside use.

One level up, you find the swimming pool of 8 x 4 meters, which is protected by a gate and has roman steps to enter. It is ideally situated, so you can enjoy the scenic view, or just relax in the sun loungers. Around the pool area, the typical Catalan vegetation is represented by olive and fig trees, wine and some strawberries can also be found when it is the season.

When you enter the house, you are welcomed by the freshness, which is so typical for Catalan limestone houses, which are constructed to keep the sun out and keep the indoor temperature pleasant. The house has several levels, which add to the charm. The first part is a sitting area with sofas, TV and a fireplace. Two steps up; there is a dining area with dining table and a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, stove, microwave, fridge, freezer etc., There is also a washing machine. On this floor too, there is a library and there is also a bathroom with shower.

On the 1st floor are the bedrooms. First there is a sitting area with sofas, TV and DVD, from which you get to the four bedrooms. There is 1 double room with a double bed, 1 triple room (can be arranged either with 3 single beds or 1 double bed and 1 single bed) as well as 1 double room and 1 single room. These two rooms can be connected with a sliding door.

There is a further bathroom in addition to that downstairs. For any For smaller children, two cots and a high chair are available

The local village in the valley is only 3 km. away, and here you find shops and restaurants, and you can find even more in La Garriga, 6 km. from the house. From La Garriga, there are frequent trains to Barcelona, so if you prefer to avoid driving, you can park the car there and take the train. La Garriga itself is also a charming town, as it was holiday town for the rich Barcelona people 100 years ago, and has a lot of beautiful modernist houses.
