Very beautiful place!

We have spent 7 fantastic days in this wonderful house. Beautiful and tasteful interior in combination with a huge garden was the perfect environment to relax and calm down. The location is optimal, because all you need is close to reach. We will for sure come back!

Lovely place to explore Sicily from

The cottage is tastefully and uniquely decorated with a rustic charm set in a citrus Orchard. From the front you can see the sea and you have a lovely view of Mount Etna as you arrive. We were lucky to see Etna erupting (from a safe distance!) We visited in late November so we didn't really use the gardens much, but I can imagine it would be lovely in warmer times. Luigi and Bella were great hosts and very helpful. The property was very clean and tidy. And we felt at home from the start. It's a good base for visiting north east Sicily, so long as you have a car. Definitely would recommend

Wonderful country design house in rural Sicily

This place is so wonderful that I almost don't want to write the review so it can stay our little secret! As you can see from the photographs the house has been carefully designed by the couple who live next door. The kitchen, house and bathroom already has everything you would want for a stay and is set up very well for self catering, we ate in every night we were there and had breakfast sat outside every morning which was lovely. The hosts are warm and friendly, there when you need them but also allowing you to get on with your holiday. Thank you Luigi and Perla for being such lovely hosts. The house is located in a semi rural location (you would need a car) but is very well located for exploring Etna and the coast. I really could not recommend this place more!

Nice, creative Place on Eastside of Sicily

Thank you Luigi for a nice week in your very charming old, creativ and functional house. He was allways there for questions. The place was overall very clean and especially the terase a highlight (inkl. wifi, outdoor shower). We recived friendly and good advised for restaurats in the area and our visit of the area Etna South, trips to the citys on the north and south. We felt, that the house was prepared with a very hugh attention to details! Noteworthy is the not concreted way to the house, which also with a little (not 4x4) car was possible by driving very carefully. Also during our stay in the end of july there was every evening partytime and loud sound from a event location near the house. This didn't interroupt our sleep, but could other people.. We recommend this beautiful house to people who want to discover the East-Side of Sicily, the Etna and how would not feel disturbed about the fact that the owner lives next house nearly. Grazie Luigi!

Charming Home Base in eastern Sicily

This is the epitome of a wonderful place to stay and base your visit to eastern Sicily. Luigi and his wife have taken great care in furnishing this charming home – using all first class linens, dishes, glassware and pots and pans. Where some will use a mish mash of left over items it is clear that Luigi has taken care and thought in furnishing this home. The view of the sea and Mt. Etna is spectacular; you can pick fresh lemons from the trees right outside your patio and enjoy the quiet of the countryside while being well within driving distance of all the sights. Luigi loaned us his GPS that he had loaded with the most direct route to Mt. Etna, Tourmina and Syracuse as well at the best place to get brioche and granita. Luigi was available to give us insight into the area and we took advantage of the offer to provide a welcome basket (we made a great pasta diner from the basket) and breakfast basket (we hardly need to buy anything else), we also drank the wine from his vineyard every night as well as his lemoncello. And if needed there is a huge grocery store within 2 km from the house. The only draw back is that it is located on a remote and unpaved road so we did not feel comfortable coming back after night. This was compensated for by eating a larger lunch and cooking dinner at “home” using the well stocked cooking utensils and dinner ware so we never felt we were at a disadvantage. This is a wonderful part of Sicily with many historical spots to see – Mt. Etna, Piazza Armenia, Syracuse, Noto, Tourmaina are all were well worth the visit. We appreciate Luigi’s hospitality and would unreservedly recommend this charming place in the countryside.

Eaten Alive by Mosquitos & A Crying Baby 24/7!!

Review #18980798 “Casa Dogana Vecchia, country house between Catania and Taormina” Besides Sicily being a filthy mess with garbage strewn everywhere, this 3 night stay ruined a fabulous time we had 4 nights previously @ a top rated boutique hotel in the countryside of Siracusa! The windows were covered in chicken wire! Bars on windows and doors. Our valuables felt insecure, so we took them everywhere we drove. The title says it all!! Though the road (haha) leading up to this dump had swimming pool sized holes that could swallow a car! No surface, dangerous and almost impassable! We are done with VRBO & HomeAway as property is not as described. Said it had AC and a Washer, neither!! Miserable! Though Luigi the resident caretaker (owner?) and his wife were pleasant but spoke almost no English. When I asked Luigi are our things safe here, he replied "anything can happen here. We live close to the cities. When we go to the beach or shopping, who knows!" And he shrugged his shoulders. It was 88 degrees F in the house day and night. No washer as advertised. "Dishwasher" means "Washer" to most Italian landlords looking to rip tourists off! I better get the damage deposit back!

Super Unterkunft / awesome flat

Wohnung war genau wie beschrieben, etwas abseits, sehr ruhig, gute Einkaufs- und Ausflugsmöglichkeiten in der Nähe, netter und hilfsbereiter Vermieter. Die Wohnung ist auf jeden Fall zu empfehlen!! Thank you for the great time, Luigi!!

Traumhaft

Das Haus , die Lage, der Garten, alles ist wirklich wunderschön. Luigi, der in unmittelbarerer Nähe wohnt, ist jederzeit ansprechbar und sehr hilfsbereit und nett. Man kann diverse Ausflüge sowohl zum Ätna als auch problemlos in einige wunderschöne Städte machen. Supermärkte und Restaurants sind in der Nähe, gute Anbindung an Autobahn.

Mai 2017, sehr schönes Ambiente

Die Besitzer waren sehr freundlich und außerordentlich hilfsbereit. Alles war liebevoll eingerichtet, besonders die Terrasse hat uns gut gefallen, mit einem herrlichen Blick. Sehr gut funktioniert hat der Pellets-Ofen, mit dem wir am Abend und am Morgen das Haus schnell erwärmen konnten. Lebensmittelgeschäfte sind in der näheren Umgebung vorhanden, ebenso Restaurant.

Tolles Haus für Zwei!

Wir verbrachten eine schöne Woche im Alten Zollhaus - ein wirklich geschmackvolles und durch den hohen Raum besonderes Ambiente, dazu die schöne Terrasse (die wir Ende Februar nicht nutzten, aber im Sommer muss das sehr schön sein) und ein ausgesprochen freundlicher und hilfsbereiter Gastgeber Luigi, der bei jedem Problem innerhalb von Minuten vor Ort war (er lebt unmittelbar neben dem Haus). Küche ist zweckmäßig, wenn auch nicht übermäßig reichhaltig ausgestattet, aber für einfaches Kochen reicht es. Wir waren Ende Februar/Anfang März und fürchteten etwas die Temperaturen, aber inzwischen ist ein moderner Pelletofen installiert (nicht der kleine auf dem Bild), der das Haus recht schnell auf angenehme Temperaturen bringt. Wir mussten dafür auch keine 10€/Tag zahlen, sondern kauften die Pellets einfach vor Ort, für Luigi war das kein Problem. Einzige kleine Minuspunkte waren das häufig ausfallende Wasser (die Pumpe fiel aus, ließ sich aber ohne Probleme wieder starten) und das schwache und nicht zuverlässige WIFI). Aber das sind eigentlich nur Kleinigkeiten, insgesamt ein wirklich schönes Haus!

Sehr schoenes Haus in laendlicher Lage

Sehr schoen eingerichtetes Haus mit viel Geschmack und Charme . Lage ruhig und abseits - wenig Moeglichkeiten in direkter Naehe . Terasse und das Ambiente sind aber sehr relaxing und haben uns den Aufenthalt angenehm gestaltet trotz Regen - empfehlenswert !! Sehr freudlicher Inhaber , der nebenan wohnt . Eigener Hauswein gab es vor Ort und sehr lecker .

Wunderschön, individuell und sehr liebevoll gestaltetes Feriendomizil.

Luigi und seine Frau sind perfekte Gastgeber, die mit tollen Tipps und Ratschlägen jederzeit zur Seite stehen. Der Service ist perfekt: da wir sehr spät angekommen sind und keine Möglichkeit zum Einkaufen mehr hatten, hat Luigi uns einen gefüllten Kühlschrank vorbereitet, so dass wir weder abends noch morgens hungern mussten :-). Für ihn selbstverständlich hat er uns sein GPS Gerät überlassen, sodass wir uns mit dem Auto sehr gut zurecht gefunden haben. Seine Lieblingsziele waren bereits eingespeichert. Als ich nach einem Schuhmacher gefragt habe, hat er mir direkt angeboten, die Schuhe selbst mit in die Stadt zu nehmen. Abends standen sie repariert wieder bereit.

Maravillosa casa en el campo.

Hemos pasado una semana maravillosa en esta casa dos adultos y dos niños. La propiedad se encuentra entre Catania y Taormina y es un lugar ideal para explorar esta zona de la isla. Cuenta con todas las comodidades necesarias y es un lugar muy agradable para relajarse. Sus propietarios hacen además que la estancia sea un auténtico placer con todo tipo de informaciones sobre qué visitar, dónde comer, y consiguen que uno se encuentre como en casa. ¡Muchas gracias!

Es war total super bei Luigi und Perla. Wir kommen wieder.

Die FeWo ist sehr liebevoll eingerichtet und man findet alles vor, das man braucht. Es war am schönsten morgens draußen zu frühstücken und einfach nur auf die Orangenbäume zu gucken. Wir durften uns auch selbst Orangen pflücken. Abends war es sehr kalt in der Wohnung. Der Ofen macht aber alles sehr schnell gemütlich warm. Der Weg zur FeWo ist speziell. Nur teilweise geteert und wirklich holprig. Man gewöhnt sich dran und darf nicht zimperlich wegen der Autoreifen sein. Die Hauseigentümer haben Katzen, die frei auf dem Grundstück rumlaufen, aber einem nicht auf der Nase herumtanzen. Alles in allem war es einfach perfekt für uns.

Splendida!

Abbiamo trascorso due giorni da sogno. La casa e' arredata in maniera impeccabile. Letto comodissimo e ambiente silenzioso. I proprietari sono molto discreti ma allo stesso tempo gentilì e disponibili. Grazie alla posizione strategica in due giorni abbiamo potuto cenare a Riposto e Catania e visitare l'Etna e Taormina. Esperienza da ripetere!
