à propos de cet hébergement
Charming 2 bed cottage in rural Wales, perfect for all the family.
Welcome to The Longhouse at Pencwm Escapes, a beautifully converted Welsh longhouse set within peaceful countryside on the CarmarthenshireâPembrokeshire border.
The Longhouse combines rustic character with modern comfort. We live on the wider property, so you may see our friendly dog Toby or one of the farm cats during your stay; they love to say hello.
This cosy, dog-friendly cottage is the perfect base for families, couples, and friends who want to unwind, explore, and reconnect with nature. Guests love the wood-burning stove, fire pit, and the beautiful gardens and grounds filled with native plants, woodland paths, and even a BBQ hut available for hire; all just a short drive from the Preseli Mountains and Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.
And when night falls, youâll be treated to breathtaking dark skies, perfect for stargazing by the fire pit or spotting constellations through the clear rural air.
Why Guests Love It
Dog friendly; up to two dogs welcome, with bowls, towels, and enclosed garden provided. The peaceful rural setting offers plenty of space and calm for dogs that prefer quiet surroundings.
Cosy wood burner and outdoor fire pit; perfect for evenings in or stargazing outside.
Tiered gardens and woodland paths; explore tranquil plant-filled spaces and hidden corners.
BBQ hut available to hire; private evening experience with optional marshmallow or savoury sâmores package.
Close to the Preseli Mountains and Pembrokeshire coast; enjoy beaches, trails, castles, and wildlife.
Private enclosed garden; safe for dogs and children.
Two comfortable bedrooms; ideal for up to four guests.
Free WiFi, smart TV, board games, and books for cosy nights in.
Flexible stays and self check-in; convenience and comfort throughout your visit.
Occasional fresh eggs from our pet chickens and ducks; when theyâre laying, guests are welcome to help themselves for breakfast.
Inside the Longhouse
Step into a warm, character-filled living space with exposed beams, traditional stone walls, and a wood-burning stove at its heart.
The open-plan lounge and dining area offers a comfortable sofa, armchairs, smart TV, and a selection of board games and books. The dining table seats four; perfect for family meals or planning the next dayâs adventure.
The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, with an oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, toaster, kettle, and all essential cookware. Youâll also find dog bowls, cleaning supplies, and thoughtful touches to make life easy.
Upstairs, there are two inviting bedrooms:
Bedroom 1: Double bed and views across the garden.
Bedroom 2: Two single beds, ideal for children or friends.
A modern bathroom includes a walk-in shower, WC, and heated towel rail, with soft towels provided. Heating is via electric storage heaters plus the log burner, with a starter pack of logs and kindling ready for you.
Gardens, Grounds and Plants to Explore
One of the most special parts of staying at The Longhouse is access to our tiered gardens and natural grounds; a peaceful, ever-changing landscape designed for guests to explore and enjoy.
Take a stroll through pathways bordered by wildflowers, ferns, and native shrubs. Follow the signs from your private garden gate, past the old railway carriage and our woodland area (where you might spot rope swings used by our daughters) and youâll reach the gardens.
Weâre gradually restoring and replanting the grounds to encourage biodiversity; youâll find pollinator-friendly blooms, fruit trees, herbs, and new saplings alongside mature oaks. The space feels like a natural extension of the countryside, with benches to sit and watch birds or butterflies drift past.
Please note: the gardens may occasionally be closed for private events. A notice board at the entrance shows opening times. We kindly ask guests to stay on marked paths, keep dogs on leads, and take any rubbish with them to help preserve this special space.
BBQ Hut Experience
Hidden within the gardens is our beautiful wooden arctic BBQ hut, available to hire for an afternoon or evening. Itâs a unique way to experience the outdoors in comfort; especially lovely on cooler nights or rainy days.
Whether youâre toasting marshmallows with the kids or enjoying a romantic fireside glass of wine, itâs a magical way to spend an evening. To book, just drop us a message.
