Lovely, well-equipped cottage in a peaceful Peak District setting. Clean, cosy, and full of characterâperfect for relaxing after walks and pub visits in Bakewell. Great location for exploring nearby villages and trails. Would happily stay again!

Great place to stay with all the amenities of Bakewell easy to walk to, plus beautiful walks all around in the peaks. We usually drove to a spot to walk but it is easy to walk out from Bakewell if you prefer not to use the car. Very lovely cottage with everything you need and beautifully done out. We were impressed that Claire took the trouble to drop off a welcome pack despite obviously having a lot going on. We were sorry to miss seeing her but the wine/biscuits etc were very welcome. The bed in the master bedroom was super comfortable but my husband struggled with the bar at the end of it and he's not exceptionally tall, around 5' 10! Also we stayed with our three teenagers so in hindsight might have done better with two showers - but that's our problem! Parking was definitely a challenge for us, as we are flatlanders and unused to hills :) but we got the hang of it after a while. Overall a lovely place to stay and we had a great holiday there so would definitely recommend!
Our cottage was perfect for our family stay. The extra touches such as a bottle of wine and some snacks were really appreciated. All the rooms were clean and comfortable and the kitchen was well appointed. The location was good, with most of the Peak District within a 30 minute drive, and Bakewell town centre just a 10 minute walk down the hill. The parking space was tight, but we managed to get in and out each day without any scrapes.
Property was excellent in interior and comfort and very clean and well equipped
Property was excellent in interior and comfort and very clean and well equipped. Cakes and drink provided by housekeeper was a lovely personal touch. Only issue for me was the stairs which are a bit narrow and also a bit winding as you navigate at the bottom. With only a rope to help with ascent/descent, I had to take extra care myself, because my knees are not so good these days due to age. Would have preferred a proper stair rail for better stability, given that wouldn't move as you held onto it. However all in all it was a lovely property and as it was a short distance outside of Bakewell was peacefully quiet and relaxing.
Stair rope instead of rail. Access to and from parking ok going up but not easy on descent, too tight to make a 3 point turn with larger car, so had to reverse all the way down to the main road then turn out as quickly as possible as this was on a bend, so cars coming fast in both directions.
My friends and I spent a lovely long weekend at this cute cottage.
The design, amnesties and cleanliness were spot on. Would love to come again and would recommend this place to anyone looking to spend a few quiet days in Bakewellthe Peaks.
We met claire the owner on arrival who couldn't of been more helpful, very friendly and helpful so t
The place itself was absolutely beautiful, it had everything you needed for a stay, and attention to detail was just perfect, very well situated with just a few minutes walk to pubs and restaurants, we ate at the woodyard which also excelled, would definitely return to stay here, thank you for a perfect few days with my family
The cottage is comfortable and in a good location.
The keys were in a lock box by the front door so easy to find. The cottage is well equipped, very comfortable and with the log burner fired up it was very cosy in the evening.
Had a wonderful stay at Limestone Cottage with Finest Retreats.
The place was very clean, homely and in an excellent location to easily walk to Bakewell and travel to nearby locations. The team at Finest Retreats were very responsive and friendly when communicating, would definitely recommend the stay.
The cottage was brilliant and in a great location for being able to walk into Bakewell and explore the rest of the Peaks. The Halloween themed welcome pack was a great touch and we'll received by our children! It would be a 5 star review but unfortunately the main fridge freezer was broken, even though the light was on, we only discovered this after our frozen food all thawed out ocer the first night and we had to throw it away.
Finest retreats knew about the fridge not working and had placed a temporary smaller fridge in the dining room, we thought this was just an extra if needed, however there was no note or notice the fridge was broken, we had to email them to discover this. No compensation was offered for all the food we lost. There was also no information pack in the property on how things work, I.e the TV (which was all iplayer based, no channels), heating, how to leave the property when you leave etc. Maybe that's us being picky, but in all other properties we've stayed in, this tends to be the norm.
No information booklet
Heating on timer , couldn't find thermostat to turn heating on when we were in the cottage and timer off
Upstairs showers only luke warm water

The property was clean and nicely decorated and about a ten minute walk down hill to the town centre. The beds were very comfortable and the shower excellent. The host had thought of everything and had greeted us with a goody basket which was a lovely touch. All in all I really enjoyed my stay there were a couple of small issues which I have put in the what I didnât like box but only in the interest of genuine feedback
Parking was very tight in a space located around the back of the house. Access to the space was up a steep single lane which serviced a few other houses and meant reversing half way back down the hill before being able to turn around and exit back down to the main road. The road was quite busy although the road noise was barely noticeable when inside the house. The picture showing the countryside from the patio area was actually of a hill the other side of the main road so not as peaceful as I expected. I had been emailed several times by SISU insisting the log burner should not be used, but on arrival it was all set up with logs kindling and matches which was a bit confusing. The fridge and freezer had been turned off and a new fridge had been put in the living room area but sadly no freezer compartment. I suppose I could have contacted the agent to ask for a freezer but as I was on holiday felt it was something they should have put in automatically for a self catering accommodation.
I would recommend Limestones Cottage time and time again.
We had a wonderful stay for 5 days - the accommodation was spotlessly clean and every little detail had been thought of in all the beautifully decorated rooms. Check-in and -out is very easy with lockbox instructions. The hosts were so kind and full of recommendations of things to do and places to eat. There is so much to do in the local area - Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, and tasting original Bakewell Puddings! We were so impressed by the whole stay and communication both with the hosts and through Finest Retreats as well. Definitely a 5* stay. Thank you!
