True North est une retraite cachée privée de 20 +/- acre, joliment aménagée sur le côté tranquille de Bar Harbor. True North est à distance de marche de The Nature Conservancy / Blagdon Preserve, un beau sentier pédestre qui mène à des plages, une aire de pique-nique et une chance de voir la faune du Maine comme les phoques, les aigles, les balbuzards, les cerfs et bien plus encore! Long Pond se trouve à 5 minutes en voiture pour la baignade, le kayak, le canoë et le paddle boarding qui peuvent être loués à Pond's End via National Park Canoe & Kayak Rentals. La plage d'Echo Lake et le sentier pédestre de Beach Cliff sont à environ 10 minutes en voiture de True North. Pour une visite rapide et une morsure savoureuse à manger, The Atlantic Brewing Company est à moins de 5 minutes en voiture, un endroit idéal pour visiter et voir comment la bière du Maine est brassée et ensuite déjeuner à Mainley Meats un restaurant de barbecue saisonnier intérieur / extérieur. Entrée du parc national Acadia, dans la ville Bar Harbor, Southwest Harbor et Northeast Harbor sont tous à 15 minutes en voiture. Great Property

True North was the perfect location for us to explore all parts of MDI! The property was well stocked and had plenty of room for the seven of us. The property manager was very easy to communicate with and very responsive. We would definitely stay again if we came back to the area!

Quiet and lovely

Tons of room for everyone. Could make our own lobster, so yes the kitchen is fully stocked. The basement is great for a raining day. Steph was easy to communicate with.

We enjoyed every bit of our stay in this house. It is clean and convenient, with an awesome basement full of games that the kids loved. Well stocked and even a nice welcome gift. Definitely recommend!

Loved True North

Loved True North, everything was charming, clean, and well stocked. Played a few games of pool in the game room and used the grill to boil lobsters from the co op. The home is also back in the woods off the main road a bit which isn't obvious from the pictures, and the extra privacy was a nice surprise.

Our stay at True North was wonderful! Everything we needed was available and home was very clean, well stocked, and extras provided. This included firewood for campfire, snacks, and all kinds of games. Communication with Stephanie was prompt and easy. Wonderful private setting and very peaceful! Wonderful stay in Maine

The property was wonderful -- roomy, surrounded by woods, convenient to anything you wanted to do on the island. We took hikes on both sides of the island with some satisfying vertical stretches and great views. Great lobster was available on the quiet side. It was always pleasant to return to our special secluded home at the end of an active day.

Wonderful Bar Harbor Location

We had a wonderful stay. Very peaceful and beautiful setting. The house was well stocked and the owner was a joy to work with. Everyone enjoyed the basement playroom with the pool table, air hockey, and ping pong table. She even left all the fixings for S'mores for the kids. I would definitely recommend this location.

Great place in the woods

This home was nestled into the woods away from the road and anybody else. Very quiet and picturesque. The house was very clean and spacious. The game room was fun and well maintained. The host also provided all sorts of amenities including everything to have a fire in the fire ring. I would highly recommend staying here. Only downside is almost everything on the island is at least 20 minutes away.

Excellent place to stay

This was on of the best VRBO rentals we ever used. House was conveniently located on 20 acres of great forest, very quiet, close to Acadia park and many local attractions. For 6 adults it was just perfect, 3 large bedrooms, very clean, kitchen had everything we needed ( I mean everything! - special thank you!). Very comfortable beds! Basement with many activities! After long hikes in Acadia it was very nice to cook home dinner and enjoy a cup of tea on the deck and a good movie with friends. Stephanie is great host, she responded to all my questions, right away, and we did follow many of her recommendations with great success. So, we had a dream vacation mostly because of this great property and Stephanie.

Lovely Place

It was great staying at True North. It's clean, spacious, and comfortable. (It feels like you are staying at your home instead of a vacation rental.) It is in a quiet, woodsy area with a nice backyard, away from the bustle of tourists. Stephanie is nice, helpful, and accessible. If my family and I are able to visit MDI again, we would be happy to stay at True North.

Amazing house with quiet atmosphere

Our family spent a week in Maine and we LOVED the house. With the house being set back off the road and in a quiet area it was exactly what we were looking for, but it was also close enough to all activities in Acadia that we weren't spending our whole vacation drivig. The house was especially well furnished and supllied with all the little things like garbage bags, toilet paper, Ziploc bags, camp chairs, fire wood etc that just makes it nice to not have to worry about it. Stephanie was also a great host providing a welcome gift (we love SMORES) and a packet of information including tips for Acadia and the surrounding areas as well as places to eat. It was and amazing property for our vacation and I would highly recommend to anyone!

Fantastic place!

If you’ve read all the other reviews, all I can add is: they are all true! The house itself is fantastic! So large! Stephanie has thought of everything! The location is nice and secluded and yet close enough to everything that we wanted to do. We enjoyed the provided s’mores ingredients by the fire pit one night, thx Stephanie! You truly can’t go wrong booking this place!

Home Away From Home

We thoroughly enjoyed our week long stay at True North! The house is just lovely and had everything we needed! The kitchen was well equipped, the beds were comfy and there was so much there to do that we could have just stayed in all week! There were so many toys and games for the kids and the adults. We really enjoyed the air hockey, pool and ping pong tables! We also enjoyed the fire pit and short nature trail in the backyard. In addition to the house being just perfect, Stephanie was an incredible host! She was so kind and helpful from sharing tips on things to do/see in the area to leaving a little welcome gift for us upon arrival. She, by far, is the best host we have ever had! Thank you Stephanie and family for sharing True North with us! We had a WONDERFUL stay!

Stephanie made this trip so easy for our family, from the moment we walked into her beautiful home she made us feel welcomed. The home was very clean and had everything we needed all we had to do was just relax and to enjoy our vacation. The peacefulness of True North

This is a great place for a family to have a nice picnic in the backyard without seeing any neighbors. It has everything that the family needs for cooking and entertainment for everyone. Also, it’s within close proximity to everything you want to see. Stephanie is a great host, very helpful and thorough. I would recommend this place to anyone except the week when I will book it again. A truly great experience

I was born and raised in Bar Harbor on Mount Desert Island. I am a 20 year paralegal and office manager for my husband's business Bar Harbor Building Contractor's, LLC. I have been in the weekly rental business for over 15 years. I am a devoted mother to a wonderful 11 year old boy and 17 year old niece. We travel frequently and rent weekly rentals so I understand what people need and want in a rental home.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

True North is located on historic Richardson family land that has been passed through many generations and has stayed within the family. It is a private 20 acre retreat allowing you and your family plenty of space to enjoy your vacation! We have a sun room, patio, balcony, game room, fire pit, horse shoes and outdoor playhouse. True North is within walking distance to a beautiful preserve providing hiking trails, picnic area, and beaches to explore the Maine coast and more.

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

We are located on the "quiet side" of Bar Harbor, within walking distance to the ocean and less than 5 miles to Long Pond and Echo Lake that provide canoeing and kayaking. True North is centrally located and less than a 10 minute drive to in town Bar Harbor, Southwest Harbor and Northeast Harbor. Acadia National Park entrance is less than a 10 minute drive and Beech Cliff Mountain is 5 minutes from True North. We are 5 minutes from Atlantic Brewing Company where you can enjoy a tour and see how they make Island brewed beer and wine. You are encouraged to bring your bikes and ride on the beautiful carriage trails and enjoy a lobster at one of the three lobster pounds within a 5 minute drive.
