We were so excited to stay at this gorgeous apartment, having made the reservation 3 months earlier. On the morning of our scheduled arrival, VRBO emailed me that the reservation was cancelled due to a broken water pipe. The Host then blocked the apartment from being rented for 7 days, including the 4 days we had rented it. Do I think there was a broken pipe? No. Do I think he got a better offer? Yes. Had he apologized and sent a photo of the damage, I would have believed him. He had my husband's phone number as they had been texting about entry instructions the night before. My husband asked the host via text what had happened, but got no response. We were SO disappointed because this was to be the highlight of our 40th anniversary trip. Worse, we were standing on the street with our luggage in a foreign country with no place to go. VRBO helped find another place but we lost a day and had to find and pay for a hotel room the first night. Let the buyer beware.
I don't think there is another hotel or vrbo that can match the VIEW. Every minute you are in the unit, other than the WC, you have the amazing view of not just the Acrop, but also the city. The location is perfect to everything you would need or want. The minute you step outside the building entrance surrounded by amazing place to eat, shop, explore, however, you have a private enterance and elevator to the unit, so you do not have to put up with crowded lobbies, waiting in line for elevator, or busy front entrances. You do not need a car because you are 6 mins from main sub, tram, bus lines. We took the T6 (or T7 , I firget whch one) down to the coast and was there in around 30 to 45 mins.) Then there is another Tram (T6 or T7) that runs up and down the coastline to many beaches. The patio is better than anyone in Athens is offering. Great for a couple but more than that would be a little crowded. Our trip would not have been as amazing as it was if we would have stayed anyplace else. I also hate to give it such a great rating because it will most likely be booked the next time we go to Athens once everyone finds out about the gem.
