A wonderful house in a beautiful location

The house is extremely well appointed and is in a beautiful village location. The garden and outside seating provided a peaceful haven to listen to the birdsong. The garden room with a games table was an added bonus. There was plenty of storage, seating and cosy places to sit in the house. The “office” was great as we had to work one morning. The drink on arrival was most welcome. This was a true home from home and we highly recommend it.

A wonderful place for a holiday

A wonderful place for a holiday Nice location. Good opportunity for excursions to Hastings, Tenterden, Bodiam. Stop off at The Bull or the Milkhouse in Sissinghurst.

Wonderful stay in Benenden

Thank you so much for the wonderful stay at Benenden. We enjoyed the beautiful house and garden. The location, right in the heart of the charming village with its welcoming pub and beautiful surroundings, was fantastic. We'd love to come back!

Delightful place!

The house, though a bit dated in structure and furnishing, had an undeniable charm and a warm atmosphere. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed and the garden was absolutely lovely. A truly delightful place to stay!

Great experience

This was our second and for sure not our last stay at Mafeking. We love everything about our stay in Mafeking. The house is so beautiful, clean and cozy. The garden is very nice with many flowers and trees and the kids loved the little garden shed with the play kitchen, table football and other items to play with outdoors. Also there are many toys for kids in the house as well as board games, puzzles, DVDS,... So we not also loved exploring the surrounding nature, castles and so on but also staying in the house relaxing and playing. Benenden itself is also beautiful and surrounded by beautiful nature. Absolutely recommended.

Fantastic house!

We loved our stay in Mafeking - it’s really spacious, light, cosy and beautifully decorated and had absolutely everything that we needed with a young family. We honestly couldn’t have been happier there and will definitely return when we’re back in the area! Thank you so much for having us!

Lovely cottage with a lot of space

We found Mafeking a clean and nice cottage with a large kitchen and a lot of space. The snug is very cosy and a gem for bookreaders. The village Benenden is charming and has a great community shop. Defenitely a recommendation worth.

Family Christmas

We had a fabulous family Christmas at Mafeking! The village of Beneden was very convenient for us all to get to from different parts of the UK. The Pub was so cozy and fun on Christmas Day. I would definitely recommend Mafeking for a group / family stay !! Thankyou

Immediately again

A beautiful accommodation, quiet location. Very comfortable beds, everything super clean and nice equipment. 2 bathrooms, but only one shared, in the other is a tub. The charm of the original umd if you have questions you get quick answer. The wild garden is grandiose and this romantic place too. We had to look for the driveway a bit the first time. We would book again immediately. To visit English gardens a great starting point.

absolutely wonderful

We loved everything about our stay in Mafeking. The house, the garden and Benenden are all beautiful. Mafeking is a great choice for familys, there are plenty of toys and a lovely playground nearby. We extended our stay because we loved it that much and had a very friendly and accommodating experience with the costumer service. Next summer holiday we will be coming back and are really looking forward to visit Mafeking again. Absolutely recommended.

Stay at Mafeking from 31 May to 11 June 2025

The house is delightful, with an enchanting garden. The rooms are spacious and well fitted out. Everything was easy to use, with instruction books provided if needed. The situation is in the middle of Benenden, a fairly quiet village with a pub that serves good real ale.

Fabulous Kent Getaway

We had the pleasure of visiting Mafeking in early December for a weekend getaway to the Kent countryside. The cottage was perfect - warm and cosy and a short drive from Leeds Castle and the vineyards at Chapel Downs for an amazing lunch. At night we walked up the road to the local pub for a great dinner then returned to Mafeking for an evening in front of the fire. Just sublime.

Charming

The cottage was lovely.My only comment is about the bathrooms.Only one shower, there were four of us and we had to all have a shower each day, also the toilet in The main bathroom has a chain to pull for flushing!Bathroom needs updating.Ensuite was fine.

Idyllic countryside retreat

Mafeking is a beautiful home in a lovely little village, central to everything in Kent/East Sussex. It is very spacious, light and very clean. It is very well equipped with everything we needed for our stay with 4 children. The hosts had put out toys and kids books, which was so kind. The garden is just beautiful, with the roses in full bloom. Walking distance to the local pub and cafe but feels very secluded and is very quiet, surrounded by the gardens. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again if we came to the area, and would thoroughly recommend to others.

A wonderful family weekend

We had a wonderful stay at Mafeking. Everything you need is provided. We were a mixed aged - family group of 6. The house and garden are stunning. We enjoyed a barbecue sitting in the beautiful garden which is just perfect . It’s a quiet location but does have a good pub within walking distance. We took full advantage of the table football and table tennis table. The hosts left us a wonderful and generous Easter gift basket. A perfect weekend in a gorgeous, clean and comfortable home that has everything you need for the perfect countryside break.

We had a very good time at Mafeking. It is a very nice cosy hidden house with such a beautiful garden. The house is fully equipped, we didn‘t miss anything. Unfortunately we only stayed 2 nights, definitely too short. Next time we will stay longer. Thanks to the owner to share this gemstone
