We had a blast staying at Lauraâs place in Saco! It was such a gorgeous Victorian house and close to great restaurants, breweries and more! We took the quick drive to Old orchard beach for a little while as well. We had plenty of room for our group and loved the pool table and game room. Laura was an excellent host with quick responses if need. Had a seamless check in and out experience and an overall fantastic time!
Spent the weekend at the 19th-century Gregory mansion in Saco,Maine with friends, and it felt like stepping back in time. Mornings with coffee in the parlor or cozy afternoons by the wrap around porch made it magical. Evenings were filled with laughter around a long wooden table that seated 11 of us comfortably, and games in the well furnished game room. Attended Mass at St Joseph Catholic Church, another historic building in nearby Bideford. Grateful for this slow, beautiful weekend wrapped in history, friendship, and peace. Deserved 5 stars but points taken off for the kitchen, which could use some upgraded basic necessities.
My friends and I stayed for one night in the gorgeous Gregory House. We've stayed here before and absolutely love it! There are so many beautiful details to the house and it's great for larger groups. We love the game room although it's often hard to get us out of the kitchen. Laura has been an amazing host as always! Very responsive, down to earth, and great to work with. We'd love to stay here again.
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Gregory House over the July 4th weekend! Laura was so responsive, sweet, and accommodating to our group. The house was beautiful and very spacious! Would definitely recommend- hopefully we will be back soon :)
It has been an amazing beautiful week. Great house with lots to offer. With the bunch of 13 that we were, kids and adults had a blast in the upstairs play room.
Thanks to our host to answer promptly our questions during our stay.
Experience to repeat!
Our team was over the moon with the Gregory House! Laura was such a great host, the property was immaculate. Had more than we needed in the kitchen cooking every meal. We come back every summer and this will be the first property we look at for next year!
It has been an awesome stay this year!
The house is beautiful and very well tidy up!
It was lovely to have the 13 of us sitting around the supper table every night after spending time in the area wether it was on the beach, in stores or even in small towns near by. Having a grocery store and wine stores near by was a great asset for the last minute meal plans! Thanks to Laura for hosting us and be such a gem when needed.
We rented this house for a bachelor+bachelorette party. It's an amazing place, with enough bedrooms for everyone and a huge TV/game room on the top floor for us to gather in the evenings. We didn't make extensive use of the kitchen, but it was well stocked (if small - only a few cooks in there, please). Host was on top of communication.
Location is convenient to Portland and has plenty of restaurants + a brewery nearby. Would definitely stay here with a group again!
The Gregory House is in a great location in southern Maine. It's 30 minutes south of Portland and close to most of the south coast beach towns. All amenities you'll need are close by.
The house itself is an old mansion and has tons of space. The 3rd floor has a grand, pitched ceilinged, wood paneled pool room with comfy couches and a large screen TV. Lots of games are available as well in the storage drawers there. There's also a card room in the main turret - very cool. The front porch has lots of chairs and tables large enough to eat on.
The only downside is that the house is on a very busy intersection and there is a lot of traffic noise. We managed by using the window air conditioners and ear plugs to block the noise at night. Another possible issue is that there are 2 bedrooms on the third floor but no bathrooms. There are 2 bathrooms on the second floor though.
We loved the house and its victorian charm. The small details of the original house from fixtures and banisters to the furniture in the parlor and living rooms were wonderful. The upstairs game room was amazing! Kitchen was incredibly well stocked for the cooking we did for a large group. We hosted a Celebration of Life for my father and it was the perfect space for people to gather and remember him.
There is a 1/2 bath powder room on the main level, but a couple of steps down. The 2nd floor has 2 full baths, one with a walk-in shower, the other with a clawfoot tub/shower combo. Stunning old fixtures and great water pressure! While not wheelchair accessible, our aunties with minor mobility troubles were able to access with assistance.
Bedrooms were lovely. Being on a main intersection the traffic noise was a bit louder than we're used to, but the Host thoughtfully had white-noise machines and/or ear plugs available in almost every room. Room darkening shades would be a nice addition- just bring an eye mask if you're sensitive & want to sleep in ;)
All in all it was the perfect house and exactly what we wanted for our time there. Thank you!
We loved this house! As the pictures show, it is an updated mansion built in the late 1800s. The house was decorated very nicely with a mixture of period furniture and updated conveniences. All of the bedrooms are comfortable and tastefully decorated, (note all bedrooms are upstairs, in case you have anyone who has trouble with stairs). The third floor gameroom is amazing, we had a blast playing games with our group and enjoying the pool table and bar up there!! It is very cool! There are 2.5 bathrooms and we really thought it would be a problem with our large group. It really wasnât a big deal as everyone seemed to need them at different times! Because this is an older home, the showers are a little small and you might want to bring a lighted makeup mirror along. There were plenty of linens for everyone as well! The kitchen has a good amount of cook wear (could use updated baking pans) and plenty of utensils and drink ware as well. The dining room is huge and we had several great meals there!. The front porch is nice to sit on in the morning for coffee or on the evenings for a glass of wine! There are a number of good restaurants near (we liked Run of the Mill & Traditions). The house is located within driving distance to many cool cities and beaches. We did use Uber a few times and had to wait a little each time, but, not too big a deal. I contacted the owner once and she was very responsive. We really enjoyed the house and would rent again anytime we were in the area again!!
Perfect spot for my family to gather for the Thanksgiving holiday with plenty of room. Walkable to restaurants and great location for groceries and necessities. Laura was very responsive each time we reached out with questions.
We enjoyed the centralized location to easily travel and explore areas both North and South of Saco. It was close to many beaches with restaurants and ice cream within walking distance! Overall we really enjoyed our trip to Maine and everyone liked the character the house provided being an old mansion.
I am a Registered Nurse. I moved to Portland Maine 30 years ago thinking I would stay a year or two and never left. I have two grown sons I'm very proud of and enjoy spending time with who live local. I am from Burlington Vermont and attended the University of Vermont. I LOVE living in Maine and have become addicted to the ocean and have become a foodie. I feel very spoiled to live here.
I have loved this property since I first drove by it in 1987. After visiting Run of the Mill Restaurant a few times I noticed it was for sale. I decided to take a look and it instantly won my heart. I bought in June 30, 2017. We are excited to care for it and enjoy it.
FABULOUS LOCATION. It is such a great location between Portland Maine to the North and York/Wells/Ogunquit to the South. Saco has so much to offer and there are so many local amenities and beaches.
