Great cottage for large families. We loved the screened in porch for games, puzzling, family time and conversation.
Property manager was very responsive to questions.
Our group of 11 had a great time staying at the Munson Cottage. It is ideally located -- short walk to the beach and a couple restaurants, and town is a quick bike ride or walk away. The house is a charming old farmhouse with plenty of room for a large group. The house is rustic and homey with a fully stocked kitchen.
My wife and I love this property - it's a great location for two reasons: it has a yard and it's a two minute walk to the ocean. Also, it has a full kitchen and plenty of space throughout. There is a screened in porch which is great even on a rainy day.
The hosts are very responsive and accommodating. . .Best location for everything. Very clean house. Great screened in porch and yard. We have come back 3 years now and will be back again next summer! Five star experience!!
We just finished up our 4th two-week stay at the Munson Cottage. It was immaculately clean when we arrived and our communication with the owner is always top notch. You cannot beat the location and being able to bring our four legged friend cannot be beat! We highly recommend it.
This was our third year renting this great house. The kitchen and porch are definitely highlights and we love the location. The stairs to the second floor bedrooms are a bit steep if mobility is a concern. The first floor bedroom and bathroom worked very well. Hope to return!
We have been coming to KBT for over 50 years with family and friends and pets! With three generations of family, we are always looking for a place that will accommodate everyone and "Club Munson" did not disappoint! It was a last-minute reservation, and we are so happy that it was available. From my first contact with Chris everything was spot on. We are already planning our next visit!!
Excellent Property Close To Everything Important For Our Family
We are a large, 3 generation family and the Munson cottage was perfect for our group. The large upstairs bedroom was terrific for our grandchildren, ages 3-9, and of course we enjoyed the screened in front porch immensely. We had everything we needed at the house and had no problems whatsoever. Beaches, restaurants, golf, and ocean walks were all close by. The owner was very accommodating to our needs. We would definitely come again.
Great property for our large, 3 generation family. This was our 2nd year there and everything was terrific. We enjoyed both the small beach nearby and the larger Kennebunkport beaches. Other kid friendly attractions are close by. The owners are very responsive. The property has a secluded feel even though close to town. Our grandchildren love the large upstairs bedroom with 5 single beds.
This is our second time renting the house. Chris is very communicative and a pleasure to deal with. The house was very clean when we checked in and the location cannot be beat. You can walk to the port or to the beach. It was quieter this year, but plenty of people and dog watching from the fabulous screened in porch. The house provides many amenities!
Our group had a fabulous week in Kennebunkport! The house worked perfectly for everyone. We had plenty of space, loved the screened in porch, kitchen had everything we needed. Even sat 16 people in the dining room for a family dinner with room to spare. Location was excellent for bike rides to Cape Porpoise and Motherâs Beach. Walked into Kennebunkport center twice a day and witnessed multiple sunsets from the Seaside Chapel on Ocean Avenue. We loved everything about it! Thank you for sharing this gem of a home.
We enjoyed our stay at the Munson cottage. Blessed with cool nights with windows open and a fire in the fireplace to start the morning. Easy walk to the Colony hotel and beach, Port Lobster and Mabel's and lovely walk along Ocean Ave. Short drive or longer walk into town. Plenty of bedrooms and beds for a large family and 3 bathrooms , also appreciated for a larger group. Kitchen has all the basics and very well- equipped with every pot, pan, utensil ever needed. Washer and dryer were appreciated with a toddler along. Lovely yard and wonderful screened porch where we spent a lot of time. Definitely would return. James Munson was a great host and very helpful when we needed for a couple of issues.
We had 14 people in the house, and it never felt crowded. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything we needed. The screened in porch was an amazing feature, and a great gathering place. Walking to Colony Beach was very easy, and downtown is a little bit further of a walk, but very easy as well. I highly recommend this house if you have a large group. We were all very comfortable, and a great time was had by all!!!
This was our second time renting this house and it worked out great. Lots of space for everyone and perfect location to walk or ride bikes! Sunsets at St. Annâs are a must see.
We had a relaxing fun time at Munson Cottage. There is plenty of parking and loads of beds. We have used VRBO for years and this is the best equipped kitchen Iâve ever been in. Also there is an abundance of towels in all bathrooms. The kitchen is wonderful, you wonât need to bring anything. But, the porch, oh how we loved the porch!! Itâs a great gathering spot
The house was wonderful. We loved that it was an older property as it added to the charm of the place. The owner Chris was great, so responsive when we had a request or question. The property was great for walking to restaurants, watching the sunrise and sunset and biking along the coast. We stongly recommend this house if you are planning a visit to Kennebunkport.
A few best things about this rental:
> the screened in porch
> very close to Ocean Ave for walking
> walk-able to Dock Square
> fully functional kitchen with dishwasher
We also appeciate that the renter allowed us to bring our dog!
Quintessential Maine rambling summer cottage with rafters tons of natural light, wooden floors and the worldâs best screened-in porch. Being able to walk to Colony Beach - priceless. Loved it!
First, Mr. Munson did respond quickly to our problems- and there were many.
Garbage piled in the house had not been removed and was disgustingly piled in the kitchen. It stunk! The bathroom shower curtain was black from mold, as are the tiles in the shower. The microwave was sparking- no biggy- he replaced it. BUT THE WORST WAS BATS IN THE HOUSE.
My grandson came running out of his room in the middle of the night because a bat was flying around. The exterminator came the next morning and told us to have the children checked for bites. There were bat dropping in all the closets ( and I use the word closets loosely) and he said this was too big of a problem for an exterminator. There were several bats in the house and most likely would be back. The rafters are all exposed and could be anywhere. Needless to say-We packed and left!!!
There is nothing charming or ârusticâ about this house, in my opinion. It was an awful experience
We truly enjoyed being able to walk to our favorite spots In KPT. We spent most of our time enjoying the terrific porch. James was very easy to deal with and always quick to respond. We look forward to returning.
Dear James and Lindsey Munson, Just want to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at the Munson cottage for our family reunion. We had a total of 14 (8 adults and 6 children, ages 22 to 10). The house was roomy and comfortable for all. Our family loved the cottage, a perfect example of a Maine summer cottage. The house was very well-equipped, from the kitchen to toys and games for leisure activities for everyone. We had a very happy reunion.
The Munson brothers (Stuart and Chris) spent their summers in the Munson Cottage beginning in 1968. They made lifelong friends, held summer jobs, and came to think of Kennebunkport as their second home. Many extended family members would gather in K-port each summer, spilling over into local hotels to enjoy time together in beautiful Maine. Their father Bob was the heart and soul of the Munson Cottage for decades until his passing in 2011. He would drive up from Virginia each May to ready the house, weed his rock garden and daylilies, and enjoy time with family and friends. He would return in September to enjoy the changing season in Maine and prepare the house to be closed for the winter months. The house continues to be a place for the brothers, their families and friends to gather in the summer to make special memories.
The Munson Cottage is over 150 years old and has been lovingly maintained by the Munsons for decades. Great care has been taken to retain the charm and character of our summer home. We hope that other families will make the same lifelong memories that we have made at the Munson Cottage with family and friends.
Antique cast iron propane stove in kitchen that still works! We use it to take the chill off the early summer and fall mornings. The large screened porch is always the favorite gathering spot, and the large dining room has plenty of room for the whole gang!
