Dezie Manor Cottage and Gardens near Sarlat la Caneda
The Dezie Manor Cottage has been lovingly restored with a high degree of attention to detail and striving to respect local traditions, crafts and materials all while adding the comfort and necessities you would come to expect of a modern house: walk in marble finished showers, fully fitted kitchen, heated pool and covered terrace next to the pool, a large garden perfectly kept by your gardener.
The Cottage is part of the Dezie Manor estate and has no vis-avis with the other two villas that are on the property. Each house has total privacy.
The Cottage is based on a traditional âPerigourdine styleâ building with distinct rooms. Starting with the heated pool you go under the terrace, that leads into the kitchen, where you can quickly access the dinning room where the stairs are that take you to the two upstairs bedrooms. From the dinning room you continue to the living room, equipped with a large 4k television with an Apple TV, and then to one of the downstairs en-suite bedrooms. Just beside the Cottage entrance in a separate building you have access to the outside 40sqm en-suite, with gives one couple total privacy.
To access the Cottage with your car you have a long private lane that goes through your private park. You can park your car in the courtyard or in the parking place before the courtyard.
We really enjoyed the House, Surrounding and the wonderful warm Pool, the quiet and the scent of the southwest of france. We are a Family of three and a couple and there was so much Place for all of us with enough of private sphere. We had much Fun with pingpong and the historic Kicker. Thank you for all, Grant. We had have wonderful hollidays.
Without a doubt the best house we have stayed in.. ever! We booked it on a bit of a whim but it was such an incredibly relaxing and resourceful break. The house is so peaceful and has everything you need to relax but also entertain a full family (ours range from 4 to 50!) Grant has made this house so comfortable and easy to live in but it also retains such charm. Small details make a difference and the pool and outside area are superb. The owner living next door makes SUCH a difference. He was on hand for anything we needed (although we only had questions about recommendations). He also brought a pony up for my daughter.. twice! Area also amazing, canoeing, horse riding and restaurant recommendations were spot on. Chateau de Baynac also worth a trip. We will definitely be back!
Dezie Manor is in a lovely location and very spacious and private. The house had plenty of space and everything we needed for our stay. The Bathrooms are fantastic, modern and clean. Wifi access good and the pool area very relaxing. Grant was both helpful and kind. We were very unfortunate with the weather, rain 6 out of 7 days which is all that prevents me giving this holiday 5 stars
We spent two fantastic weeks at Dezie Manor Cottage at the beginning of June. The accommodation was beautifully furnished, full of character and spotlessly clean throughout. A fully equipped kitchen catered for almost every eventuality, allowing us to comfortably cook for a party of 5 and have the option of dining indoors or outside on the pool terrace. The barbecue was a welcome addition on the warmer evenings. Being set deep in the countryside allowed us to enjoy the tranquility of the location and its varied wildlife, especially around dusk. A well stocked supermarket and boulangerie were conveniently located within a 8-10 drive from the house. The information provided by Grant in advance of our arrival proved extremely useful and he remained discreetly on-hand throughout our stay to address any queries or issues that arose. Would throughly recommend.
We had a lovely week staying in the Orangerie. From the moment of booking, communication with Grant was very good, and he was very helpful, booking us into a lovely restaurant (Chez Julien in Paunat) as well as arranging a vet visit for our dog.
The villa was lovely, situated in large grounds with lots of privacy. We particularly enjoyed the pool area and the table football/ping pong area, as well as the covered terrace at the front of the house for when we had a bit of a storm! The house was stocked with all the towels etc that we needed and rooms and beds were comfortable.
One minor point is that we found that the pool sunbeds werenât hugely comfortable, they would probably benefit from thicker covers as they can get quite hard.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend, would also recommend visiting Perigueux for the night market on a Wednesday and canoeing along the river from Les Eyzies.
Heerlijke vakantie gehad.
Gezellig huisje met authentieke inrichting.
(jammer van de spinnenwebben, stofvlokken onder het bed en glazen die niet erg proper waren)
Vooral genoten van de overdekte buitenlounge met open haard / bbq!
The property was exactly as advertised. It was well equipped and met our needs perfectly. For a relaxing get away from it all holiday the location and grounds were perfect.
Really lovely villa with lots on offer to entertain the whole family. The pool was great, the games room fantastic with the added benefit of gym kit if you felt so inclined.
Grant was very good at getting back to us on any minor issues or requests pretty much immediately!
The one thing we could have done without were the flies, unfortunately this part of the world does come with the little blighters, no fault of the property at all but they were a little annoying at times.
Would love to go back if we get the chance, pictures donât really do the property justice, it is huge inside! And all very well appointed.
Thank you Grant for making our stay comfortable & enjoyable.
Wonderful and quiet place to relax, enjoy and plan excursions. Grant was super helpful and friendly, provided good tips what to do around. Paddocks sourrounding part of the garden allowed to watch the horses. Overall we had a great week!
We loved our stay here. Grant couldnât have been more helpful. The property is beautiful and had everything we needed. We loved the space and the wildlife and the local towns. Want to go back!
This accommodation exceeded all our expectations. It was a true tranquil paradise, which could be used to get away from it all or a luxury base to explore the surroundings. Our dogs were welcome too with lots of forest walks on hand and a brilliant location for local amenities. Grant and Kiki were fantastic hosts and nothing was too much for them to do, to make our stay even better. We have already booked to return again twice next year. Would highly recommend this accommodation for all ages.
Het was geweldig! Prachtig huis met prachtige tuin en zeer vriendelijke eigenaar. Heerlijk gezwommen, getafeltennist en gesport in sportruimte. Fantastisch!!
A great property that feels private and away from it all, and quite rural. It was an hour or so's drive from lots of the things we fancied doing (boat trips / most impressive caves etc) , so with two young children we ended up doing two days out and the other days we stayed around the pool, no bad thing!
Spacious. Lovely warm pool for the hot weather we had (c. 32° in Aug). Gorgeous shower rooms, otherwise quite a rustic property, a few small replacements and updates in the kitchen, bedrooms and living room could bring the facilities up to 5 star quality like the bathrooms.
Overall a great stay with a great owner.
The property is in a quiet location and is in a beautiful setting with everything we required. Grant booked a restaurant for our first night and the vets for our dogs which is really helpful.
A lovely đ place for a family holiday.
We were a family of 8 adults - the grown up children and their partners using Dezie Manor for our annual holiday during a very hot (30+) summer.
The location is idyllic - nestled within a forest area miles away from any urban noise. The dining area was excellent - it had a long table outside where we dined breakfast, lunch and dinner. We were never bothered by mosquitos the whole time as a breeze seemed to flow along the dining area situated under a protected canopy. The kitchen was well equipped (apart from knives which are always blunt in rentals) and had a brand new Weber bbq outside that we used several times.
The accomodation was excellent in the main areas adjacent to the kitchen and air-conditioned - but the lack of air-con in the bedrooms was a bit of a hardship - particularly for those whose rooms were on the top floor - gathered up the heat of the day. The pool was a huge plus and we spent most days lounging there in between food and beverages. As a keen cycling family we cycled most days in the morning - it was superb - quiet with few cars. I need to mention the (fruit?) flies - they were a bit of a constant irritation (presumably due to the forest) everywhere outside except inside and around the dining and pool area where miraculously they stayed away? However, this review canât finish without mentioning the amazing games area - table tennis and table football were a nightly source of entertainment - a huge hit with us but perhaps not the other guests staying in adjacent properties who had to endure some of our more raucous competitive post dinner sport - so we would probably have preferred to be totally isolated from other people! The local village - 5km away had a great supermarket and local artisans - butchers, bakers and regular markets that would satisfy any culinary request. We dined out a couple of times - most famously at the regular gastronomic nocturne events held at nearby villages which was fabulous. Versus other places we have stayed in across Europe this ranks highly and is excellent value for money. This would suit a family looking for total peace and relaxation in a country setting.
We stayed in the Orangerie in June 2017 and then returned to stay in the Grange in April 2018. The houses were both well-appointed and very comfortable. The surrounding countryside is nice and quiet, with a small town (with butcher / baker / super market) 5 minutes by car and the larger city / town of Bergerac and perigueux ~30 minutes drive away. We had wonderful holidays on both occasions. Grant could not have been more helpful: he was always contactable if we had any questions and was always happy to help. We have 2 small children who were 5 and 3 on our second visit and both houses gave them plenty to keep them amused: large grounds, some animals (horses / chickens / friendly dog), a private swimming pool and kidsâ games. I would also recommend them for older kids as both houses had table tennis and table football available. For activities in the area to keep everyone entertained, weâd really recommend: Chateau de Castelnaud, the gardens of marqueyssac; Sarlat on market day, Bergerac and the Aquarium du Perigord Noir. All of these were great for both children and adults. We would love to return again!!
