Byways - a cottage that sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms

As you enter the cottage you walk directly into the spacious open plan lounge and dining area with wooden floors, dining table with four chairs, two leather sofas and the lovely gas burning stove which makes for a great feature in the lounge. This room gives a really inviting feel making it a real home from home.

The modern kitchen is very well equipped for the perfect self catering holiday with oven & hob, dishwasher, washer / dryer, fridge freezer etc.

Upstairs there are two pretty bedrooms. To the back of the cottage is a double bedroom and a larger twin room to the front. Both rooms are well furnished and include luxury linen and towels.

The newly refurbished bathroom has a bath with shower over, hand basin and WC. Complimentary Wi-Fi throughout.

Unrestricted parking is on street directly in front of the cottage.

Perfect few nights in Keswick

Great place

A lovely property in a fantastic location only 5 mins walk to centre. Plenty of free parking on the street outside (first come basis). The property had everything we needed and was spotlessly clean on arrival. A nice welcome pack of tea,coffee biscuits and milk and a lovely tub of treats and a toy for our dog which was a lovely thought. Would stay again and have no problm using Keswick cottages again. Easy booking and excellent communication.

Short stay at Byways

Perfect location, walking distance into Keswick town centre. Added bonus of a courtyard garden. We didn’t find the sofa’s very comfortable but apart from that small niggle, 10/10 property.

Great 3rd stay

This is our third stay at this property, and love its overall location, comfort and facilities. Everything in the property that you could need (love the family games/books). Our only slight issue is again with the overall cleanliness, which is unfortunately let down by some lack of attention to detail, e.g. dirty inside of kitchen exterior door, dust on surfaces where items have been dusted around rather than lifted up (top of fridge/shelves) and towel radiator in bathroom. We did initially have an issue with the Sky TV having a very restrictive child lock added - although this was resolved quickly on our second day by contacting the office and requesting the PIN code, but this should be provided as standard in the welcome pack.

Cosy winter break

Lovely cosy cottage for a weekend or winter break. Small but all you need for a couple (& two dogs). Clean and comfortable very good location for town and dogs loved Fitz park.

Holiday in Keswick

Our cottage in Keswick delivered above our expectations! It was well prepared for meal prep and dining. The beds offered a good night sleep after hiking. The location was an easy walk to the city park and downtown businesses.

Peaceful cosy cottage.

I would pretty much reiterate what others have said. It's a nicely maintained, cosy cottage. It's very quiet as it's on one of the less frequented streets in Keswick. Well-equipped kitchen and very comfortable bed in the main bedroom. I chose to book with Keswick Cottages as they are a smaller independent business I believe, with good reviews and I found them friendly and quick to respond to queries. The cottage was ready on time and immaculate on arrival. David.

Keswick dog friendly

Great location. Easy walk into keswick but far enough back for it to be quiet and easy to park Beds comfortable and kitchen well equipped. Bathroom/towels/bedding were all nice and clean. However general cleanliness of kitchen equipment and floors could be improved. (under table leg dog hair/ dust)

We’re Regulars

We’ve stayed at Byways every year for perhaps the last 10 years or so, so that tells you all you need to know as far as we are concerned. It’s a nice cosy little house, perfect for the two of us and our two dogs, but also enough room for a couple of extra people as well. It’s in a great location, just a short walk into the town, parking is usually easy enough on the street and the little patio area is great to sit out after a days walk on the fells. It’s furnished to a good standard, the kitchen is reasonably equipped, good bathroom, and the beds are comfortable. Ticks all our boxes.

Our stay at Byways at a dog friendly cottage

The cottage was lovely and cosy. The location was great for activities and walking the dog. We really appreciated the little hamper left for us. We would definitely return :) Unfortunately we couldn't get the dishwasher to work but this didn't affect out stay.

Byways in the rain again!

Another cosy short break at Byways. Raining again but we can only afford to go out of the peak seasons! The cottage was very clean as usual and has everything we need. Location is walking distance from all facilities and there is plenty of street parking. I think people have mentioned this before but it would be good if arrival time could go back to 2pm instead of 4pm so that some of the first day could be enjoyed

Week away, for our 40th wedding anniversary. 2 adults with dog.

First time in Keswick and with Keswick cottages. Very impressed with both. One minor quibble is not being made aware of complete lack of any kitchen basics, ie salt and pepper. Don't mind that it is not provided, more than happy to bring my own, if made aware. The cottage was Immaculate and the location was perfect. An extra special thank you for the card and bottle of fizz for our wedding anniversary.

Excellent as always

We have stayed at Byways numerous times. It’s always spotlessly clean and well presented on the first day, also with a handy kitchen essentials pack. Sofas are comfortable for a rest at the end of a long walk, unless you did that in the pub! Beds are comfortable so you get a good sleep to recover for the next days hike! Great location for a 5-10 walk to the town centre, or an hour in the opposite direction to the top of Walla Crag. We’ll be back again soon!

Summary of review

This is my 4th stay with Keswick cottages, Byways being the smallest cottage so far, location good very quiet at night patio area very small so no good for dogs. The owners need to provide instructions for appliances on the tablet or paper instructions in a drawer as these come in very handy when needed.

Home from hone

Beautiful house in a very quiet location in Keswick. This cottage felt like a home from home, very comfortable everything you need in the kitchen snug living room and comfortable beds and a lovely bathroom. Small court yard garden lovely for a drink in the morning.

Byways in the rain!

We have stayed at Byways several times so it really does feel like a home from home. This time we had a short break at the end of November so it was no surprise that it rained most of the time! However, we had come prepared with all our waterproof walking gear so enjoyed some good walks in fabulous scenery including Walla Crag, Buttermere and Whinlatter Forest. It was nice to have a cosy place to come back to. We also visited the Dog and Gun three times and enjoyed their goulash, as well as their lovely Loweswater Gold. Well, walking is thirsty work! Hope to visit Keswick again soon in better weather!

The 2 of us stayed in Byways with our dogs and couldn’t fault the layout of the cottage, location or how it was furnished and set up. Well appointed kitchen, spotless.

Really good holiday at keswick and cottage in a great spot with everything you need inside. There were a couple things to make it better. The floors downstairs were tidy when arrived but hour after walking on floor without shoes on and socks /our feet were black so it was clear floors hadn't been washed. The little garden is a great feature but needs some attention and a tidy. The washing line holder was really dirty although we didn't use it the garden area needs some care. Enjoyable stay in a great location.
