Byways - a cottage that sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms

As you enter the cottage you walk directly into the spacious open plan lounge and dining area with wooden floors, dining table with four chairs, two leather sofas and the lovely gas burning stove which makes for a great feature in the lounge. This room gives a really inviting feel making it a real home from home.

The modern kitchen is very well equipped for the perfect self catering holiday with oven & hob, dishwasher, washer / dryer, fridge freezer etc.

Upstairs there are two pretty bedrooms. To the back of the cottage is a double bedroom and a larger twin room to the front. Both rooms are well furnished and include luxury linen and towels.

The newly refurbished bathroom has a bath with shower over, hand basin and WC. Complimentary Wi-Fi throughout.

Unrestricted parking is on street directly in front of the cottage.

Great Stay at Byways

This was our first holiday where we needed a pet-friendly property (for our daughter's dog!) and Byways was great. The small enclosed patio area was ideal for 'you know what' and the property is very well equipped. Although there is no dedicated parking space, we managed to park directly outside the property, and there was plenty of additional on-street parking in the vicinity. Also, the residential area was very quiet, yet only a few minutes stroll into the centre of Keswick for the many pubs and cafes. We would definitely recommend Byways and will be back in the future.

Good location

We very much enjoyed our stay in Byways, good location, easy walk into town and on road parking not a problem. We would definitely stay again. Always try and book with Keswick Cottages if we can.

All of this just contributes to the real homely nature of the property, the kitchen in particular is very well equipped for the perfect self-catering holiday with oven & hob, dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge freezer and microwave, so you can stay assured that we have everything you need to spend the evening cooking, if you don't opt to eat at the Twa Dogs nearby, or head into town, that is! Excellent for dogs and their families.

Definitely recommend to dog owners as the house has been furnished with dogs in mind. The dog gift box was a nice touch. The house is located in a quiet area of Keswick and a short walk into the centre or the local park. There’s a brilliant artisan baker just around the corner. We needed to use a stroller/pram for an elderly dog and was able to hire one from Podgy Paws pet shop. The only minor issue was the mattresses felt like they needed replacing but could be that we’re not used to very soft mattresses.

Great cottage, great location!

Byways is a really lovely, cosy, well-equipped cottage in an excellent location just a few minutes' walk from Keswick Town centre. It's also close - and this is especially great if you take a dog with you - to a really nice park by the river. We unfortunately had to cut our stay short because of illness (mine), but we're very happy indeed in this excellent cottage. It was dressed nicely for Christmas (we were there the week before) and the gas 'woodburner' had us feeling extremely cosy indeed.

March Mon-Fr Stay

This is the second time we've stayed at Byways. We originally stayed in March 2014 and we returned this past week. The cottage has been refurbished since we last stayed with gorgeous furnishings and a wonderful power shower. It is lovely and comfortable and is a home from home. The cottage is in an ideal position within Keswick only a 10 minute walk from the centre of town. The addition of a garden was great for our dog. We had a wonderful stay and will be back, our only comment would be that after 17 years of staying in Keswick in multiple self catering accommodations, the lack of essentials such as kitchen roll, washing up liquid, toilet rolls etc was disappointing...a noticeable cutback.

Lovely stay

Excellent location for the town, the lake and local walks. Although there is no dedicated parking, we never had a problem parking close by. Very clean and well equipped. Would love to come back.

Perfect few nights in Keswick

Cottage was clean and comfortable with everything required for a few nights away. Just a 10 minute stroll to the town centre.

The perfect Cottage Byways

Byways is the perfect cottage we have been going for 8 years and we love it, sometimes twice a year Very cosy has everything you need plus always immaculate and clean. The cottage has been updated recently newly painted rooms and new carpet etc looks fab well impressed lovely bathroom and two good size bedroom's. We take our Cocker Spaniel too because doggie friendly plus 5 minutes walk Into town so near everything plus Fitz park. We cannot wait to go again next year

Cosy winter break

Lovely cosy cottage for a weekend or winter break. Small but all you need for a couple (& two dogs). Clean and comfortable very good location for town and dogs loved Fitz park.

Facilities excellent. Clean and spacious for the two of us. Enjoyed our stay there. Recommend the place and certainly will return there. Close to shops, food stores and walks.

Short stay at Byways

Perfect location, walking distance into Keswick town centre. Added bonus of a courtyard garden. We didn’t find the sofa’s very comfortable but apart from that small niggle, 10/10 property.

Holiday in Keswick

Our cottage in Keswick delivered above our expectations! It was well prepared for meal prep and dining. The beds offered a good night sleep after hiking. The location was an easy walk to the city park and downtown businesses.

Cosy, convenient cottage

We spent a good week in this cosy cottage. It was conveniently situated close to the town and within easy reach of the lake, parks and other places of interest. Any problems were minor. The front door was not easy to open. The garden area was small and could do with some pruning of shrubs. Having said this we have rebooked for next year!

Return to Byways

We have stayed at Byways many times now. It’s quiet but only a few minutes stroll into town. It was very clean as usual and improved by moving the double bed to a larger room. Kitchen is well equipped and has everything we need. A larger, more comfortable sofa would be beneficial after a long day walking. Customer service is efficient and friendly. We will return!

Great place

A lovely property in a fantastic location only 5 mins walk to centre. Plenty of free parking on the street outside (first come basis). The property had everything we needed and was spotlessly clean on arrival. A nice welcome pack of tea,coffee biscuits and milk and a lovely tub of treats and a toy for our dog which was a lovely thought. Would stay again and have no problm using Keswick cottages again. Easy booking and excellent communication.

Keswick dog friendly

Great location. Easy walk into keswick but far enough back for it to be quiet and easy to park Beds comfortable and kitchen well equipped. Bathroom/towels/bedding were all nice and clean. However general cleanliness of kitchen equipment and floors could be improved. (under table leg dog hair/ dust)

Our stay at Byways at a dog friendly cottage

The cottage was lovely and cosy. The location was great for activities and walking the dog. We really appreciated the little hamper left for us. We would definitely return :) Unfortunately we couldn't get the dishwasher to work but this didn't affect out stay.

We’re Regulars

We’ve stayed at Byways every year for perhaps the last 10 years or so, so that tells you all you need to know as far as we are concerned. It’s a nice cosy little house, perfect for the two of us and our two dogs, but also enough room for a couple of extra people as well. It’s in a great location, just a short walk into the town, parking is usually easy enough on the street and the little patio area is great to sit out after a days walk on the fells. It’s furnished to a good standard, the kitchen is reasonably equipped, good bathroom, and the beds are comfortable. Ticks all our boxes.

Peaceful cosy cottage.

I would pretty much reiterate what others have said. It's a nicely maintained, cosy cottage. It's very quiet as it's on one of the less frequented streets in Keswick. Well-equipped kitchen and very comfortable bed in the main bedroom. I chose to book with Keswick Cottages as they are a smaller independent business I believe, with good reviews and I found them friendly and quick to respond to queries. The cottage was ready on time and immaculate on arrival. David.

Excellent as always

We have stayed at Byways numerous times. It’s always spotlessly clean and well presented on the first day, also with a handy kitchen essentials pack. Sofas are comfortable for a rest at the end of a long walk, unless you did that in the pub! Beds are comfortable so you get a good sleep to recover for the next days hike! Great location for a 5-10 walk to the town centre, or an hour in the opposite direction to the top of Walla Crag. We’ll be back again soon!

Byways in the rain again!

Another cosy short break at Byways. Raining again but we can only afford to go out of the peak seasons! The cottage was very clean as usual and has everything we need. Location is walking distance from all facilities and there is plenty of street parking. I think people have mentioned this before but it would be good if arrival time could go back to 2pm instead of 4pm so that some of the first day could be enjoyed

Clean, comfortable and convenient

A clean, comfortable house in a quiet location but only a short walk away from the town centre and restaurants, shops etc. The welcome pack was a nice touch, and particularly welcomed by our four-legged friend! Just a few minor issues: - the kitchen door doesn't close securely, so our small dog could easily push it open. The sneck needs adjust. - the stair 'gate' seems past its best. It was tricky to operate and the lock released only after several tries. - whilst it wasn't the weather for sitting out, the outside area, including the small yard, could do with a general clean-up. Despite these minor issues, we would probably stay here again.
