This was perfect for 6 adults. Location was nice and central walked most everywhere. Beds on the firm side but all in all weâd choose again!! Host was easy to communicate with! Thanks again
We are return visitors to Red Rose. Apartment is exactly as advertised and the location cant be beat, close enough to walk to all the attractions but in a quieter neighborhood. Great amenities at your doorstep, coffee, groceries, etc. We'll be back
Excellent location. Not touristy at all; feels like a neighborhood. Plenty of restaurants and shops around.
Located next to a canal - one of the rooms has a great view of the gondolas going by.
We would definitely stay here again.
Loved the location! Lively local pizza nearby, convenient to supermarket and bars, not to far away from the main points of interest. Apartment has basic amenities, but lots of room and everything worked fine. Highly recommend for larger families, groups.
Location near the train station. An interesting walk to the apartment going through tiny alleys it certainly not too far with baggage on rollers. Up and down some stairs on bridges. The area had a grocery store, bars, great croissants around the corner and delicious gelato right beside the bakery. Access to the core of Venice was about 20 minutes walk. Easily done and an interesting walk.
Great location for our purposes. Clean and quiet. As we were a group of two couples it would have been nice to have had a sitting room or living room, but there was a small sofa in the kitchen. We did not eat in, but the kitchen seemed well equipped. One BR was near a bedroom, but the other BR was accessed by passing through the kitchen - not an idela layout or the second couple. All in all, we had an enjoyable stay and this propeorty met our expectations.
Frederico was completely wonderful as a host, promptly responding whenever I had a question, offering information about restaurants, getting into the city and more. His team who handed off keys and set us up in the apartment were also prompt and helpful. We had a wonderful time. You can walk everywhere from the apartment, but was tucked away in a quiet area.
For Venice the apartment was definitely big and well-equipped and faced a small canal. It is located in a quiet and sweet area maybe 20-25 minute walk north of Piazza San Marco. The closest water shuttle (from Marco Polo Airport) is San Stae, one of the first stops inbound and the last outbound. The apartment felt rather spartan without rugs (that I recall) and with very limited artwork. Upholstered pieces are apparently not popular in Venice. Being an American 'softee' I find all beds in Italy quite hard, these included. No surprises there.
The joy of the property is Frederico who awaited us at the San Stae shuttle stop to help us with our luggage through the narrow passageways of the island city to our apartment. He spent a quite adequate amount of time with the two of us describing the immediate area and pointing out the best bakeries, restaurants and even pointing out where we could do our laundry. He responded readily to our text messages throughout our three days visit and even made reservations for our water taxi from the closest stop to Marco Polo Airport. Without Frederico we would have been lost.
We have stayed with Federicoâs property seven years ago and had a much different experience! Unfortunately, it started off with me losing my phone and us not being able to communicate with the host which in turn set, what I believe, to be a bad start to this trip. We rented 3 places from Federico and were told that one of our rentals had no air conditioning and that we were being placed elsewhere. No problem for us as we know things happen. The apartments were not as clean as they were the last time, the red rose was dirty. We actually had ants and there was mold in one of the bathrooms. The replacement apartment they put some of us in was the real issue. We were accused of breaking a lock to an entry way and his accusations were simply amazing. He basically told us we had to pay for it and that we broke it and thereâs no way we didnât. His rudeness and his thought that we were too stupid to figure a lock out was Laughable! We texted him immediately after it happened. The lock was to an entrance way to a courtyard The key was put in the lock, turned and two small pieces broke off. We did not force the key nor did we jam it in the lock itself. He accused us of doing it wrong said we did not pay attention to the instructions and that we must pay for It. From there he just was rude and said he would report me. Iâve never had an issue before. At the red rose we were told to leave the garbage in the apartment and then he yelled at us for that. This was a horrible experience!!
This apartment is perfectly located and exactly as shown in the photos. It's not fancy, but it lacks for nothing. We visited in August, and as busy as much of the city was, it was a joy to return to the lovely nearby square that had everything any traveler might need: a well-stocked grocery store; a gelateria; pastry shop; several restaurants; a bar; and a beautiful church. It is only about a 10-minute walk from the main train station, and there's a vaporetto station, where Alilaguna boats to the airport also stop, a very short walk away, which was a bonus and extremely convenient. The apartment is on the second floor and the master bedroom overlooks a small canal. It was magical to brew coffee in the well-stocked kitchen and sit and watch the work boats travel by quietly in the mornings. In the afternoons and evenings, gondoliers glide by. Truly a special view that I will never forget. The air conditioning worked well in each of the 3 bedrooms. And the twin beds, while designed for children, fit our two teenage boys without a problem. If you require use of the futon sofa in the master bedroom, discuss it in advance with the host so that bedding is available. We loved every minute. Grazie mille!
Stayed here with our 6 kids and had a wonderful time. You are right on a canal and by the town square. We had a great time, plenty of space, air-conditioning in the bedrooms, and the price couldn't be beat. It's a bit of a haul to get to San Marco's square, but it's a quiet pocket with all the conveniences nearby. Highly recommend!
This apartment was located in a charming spot, next to a beautiful little foot bridge, overlooking a courtyard one one side and a canal on the other. It has 3 bedrooms, and there is room for additional sleeping on a futon (not 10 bedrooms as stated). A little odd layout of the apartment due to being formed in a very old building. Plenty of space and everything we needed for our family of 4 (could have fit a slightly larger family comfortably). There were a few very elegant things, such as the window overlooking the courtyard (although the courtyard contained a huge pile of bags of gravel during our stay; looked like they were moving them as we left) and the window overlooking the canal, and a few lovely artworks. The furniture was basic. The beds were very comfortable and A/C worked. Kitchen had all the necessities for our limited needs. Hilariously, there was an American coffee maker, but no filters in the apartment or at the nearby grocery :). We used the Italian coffee maker, and Freddie gave me a nice lesson so that I had no trouble. The apartment was secure, and I felt safe sleeping there and leaving my things when we were out.
We enjoyed staying in this less touristy area of Venice. Venice is easily walkable, and we learned to use the Vaporetti. There are at least 4 really good restaurants very close to this aparment, as well as a grocery store. It was fun to walk to the pescheria one morning, and buy fruit from the vendors there (so delicious).
It is an easy walk to the train station. Freddie helped us to arrange transportation from the airport in a private boat, which was reasonably priced and extremely helpful, dropping us off right near the apartment.
Slightly longer but very doable walk, around 10 minutes, to San Marco Square and big tourist sites. There are several smaller, very cool museums closer to this apartment in Santa Croce. Drosuduro is walkable too.
We absolutely loved Venice, and were pleased with our 3 night stay at this apartment. We were not quite ready to leave! I would stay here again.
We loved the location of the property and the beautiful canal views. The 3 bedrooms were perfect and we liked that one of them had 2 small beds so that my teens didnât have to sleep together in a bed . Everything worked perfectly. We were sad because of our flight delays we missed an entire day but other than that our stay was perfect !
There are many restaurants nearby that were delicious and a fantastic gelato place around the corner that my kids were obsessed with
Host met us at train station and helped us find the location. Nice area in Santa Croce neighborhood that was convenient but not in the chaos on the grand canal. Plenty of room and ac in each bedroom! The beds were quite uncomfortable but still loved our stay.
Very nice property and Cristina gave us a great overview of the city, places to visit, and restaurants. The location was very central to the points of interest and fairly easy to find with GPS. We spent 13 days traveling across Italy and Venice was our favorite.
Having visited Venice many times before, this experience felt like a welcome home. From the welcome by Cristina to the comfortable and well equipped apartment everything was fantastic. We arrived early and were made to feel at ease not a nuisance. As we explored Venice we felt that the apartment was ours to come home to whenever we wanted to. Thank you to Cristina for making our stay so relaxed.
Very spacious and clean, good facilities. Fantastic location with a great square and restaurants/pastry shops/supermarket just a minute's walk away. Thorough check in with Sylvia and lots of good recommendations and help from her.
As others have stated, only room for improvement would be bathrooms update, but it wasn't a problem at all.
The property was excellent and the host superb. She gave us info on the city that was brilliant, and her dinner recommendations were fabulous, we tried them all and they were perfect.
Without question, our 3-night stay at the Red Rose apartment was the highlight of our recent Italy trip. Everything about the stay; the apartment, the neighborhood, and - especially, the check-in process were truly outstanding.
The property managers; Federico and Cristina, deserve the highest praise for their clear and precise communication over the months and days leading up to our arrival. That alone gave us the confidence that we'd made the right choice. We were not expecting though the almost 1 hour that Cristina spent with us on check-in going through with us everything about the apartment, where to go in Venice for great food and coffee, and what to see and do in the short time were going to be there. Here's some advice: throw your guidebooks away and just follow Cristina's recommendations! Every one of those (that we had time to experience) was simply amazing. (Her recommendation to take a day trip to Burano and Torcello - as well as her very clear instructions on how to get there, was especially helpful.)
We are really looking forward to our next trip to Italy and already know that we'll be booking this apartment with Federico and Cristina again!
Great Santa Croce location...away from the crowded tourist areas but close enough to walk to everything. Christina was great, passionate about Venice & shared lots of wonderful tips for restaurants, cicchetti & gelato. Spacious comfortable bedrooms, slightly smaller living area than expected but kitchen & dining sufficient for cooking a 5 course dinner for our group of 5. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
