Our stay was awesome. The house is in a great location to hike and mountain bike the flagstaff area. The property is in a quiet neighborhood in the forest. Love how you can take a walk or hike right outside the back door. Having a key code door lock is awesome. no keys to lose.
Matt was very nice and easy to contact when needed. Had a problem with WiFi the night we arrived but Matt was able to get it resolved by the next morning. Plenty of room for everyone and very clean.
A tall step into the house and the steep stairway to the upstairs made this home unsuitable for anyone with knee, hip or other mobility issues. The owner installed a handrail when I arrived which helped, but it's still quirky.
The cleaning service that was responsible for the sparkling clean comments is no longer taking care of this house. When I arrived, there was dried food on plates/bowls, utensils and pots/pans. Also a dirty oven, sticky cabinet and drawer fronts and handles in the kitchen were beyond acceptable. There were muddy child hand prints on door frames and windows. The ânewâ cleaning service came back for a re-do, but reported that I was ârudeâ for pointing out the problems. Bi-weekly cleaning was included with my rental agreement; should have totaled 5 cleaning visits, only 2 occurred and one was canceled by the owner without notifying me. I was not offered compensation for the missed services or to buy cleaning supplies (no mop).
Mowing the grass was included in the services to be provided per our documented discussions. However, it was not mowed all year. The owner said he liked it ânatural.â
The back yard has tall (some of it 3') grass and there are many dry Ponderosa pine needles on the ground, on the roof and in the rain gutters. Since there is no water to the outside faucets, usie of the fire pit and propane grill is a fire hazardous.
The house is in a cell phone dead space, although Verizon calls connect sometimes. I told the owner of my need for cell phone reception and he suggested I go about œ mile down the road where I could probably get reception. This is not practical if you need to receive as well as make calls. Luckily for me, a neighbor enlightened me about WiFi Calling and I was able to make and receive calls.
This is a very funky place which I usually enjoy. However, no back cushions on the couch (just throw pillows), pet stains on the carpet, and the general lack of cleanliness exceeded my tolerance. The house is in a beautiful location and is spacious. If the above described issues don't concern you, lucky you. If they do, my review will let you know in advance of things I wish I had been aware of before booking the house for 3 months. By the time I arrived for the summer, it was too late to make other arrangements. I tried to get the owner to amend his listing to address these issues, but he declined to participate in either verbal or written "communication."
My young adult son and I stayed for a week. We obviously didn't need all the space, but it was lovely. Everything was just as described and the access to the backyard/national forest was perfect. Easy to get into the house with the keypad. We didn't use outdoor barbecue or such things because it was still snowing in the morning for several mornings. Great location for access to Grand Canyon locations as well as Sedona. There is a general store within walking distance, but at least at this time of year, there was virtually nothing to purchase aside from alcohol. So, it would be wise to stock up on basic things that you might need before you arrive. Great stay!
We really like this house. It was nice being tucked away near the woods, but just a quick ride into Flagstaff for supplies which was good because we were able to pack light. The kids loved being able to play in the snow tight in the backyard; there was a large picture window which we could watch them through, while we stayed nice and warm. We would stay again...but probably not in the winter...we were unprepared for negotiating the hills in town. If you do visit when there is snow and ice on the roads, be sure you have a 4x4 vehicle.
We had a wonderful stay in Flagstaff. The house is charming and cozy.Matt was quick to respond when I corresponded with him The kitchen is big and well equipped to cook for large families.Having a washer and dryer available was awesome. We would definitely rent again!!
Very charming, very simple, very clean and very cozy place! We rented this house because I wanted all my family (a group of 11) staying together for a graduacion we attended at NAU, it did work wonderfully! plenty room to sleep and hung out as well, the backyard open to the forest which made it very unique experience compare to a hotel. I totally recommend it for big families o group of up to 10 or 12 with kids.
Be careful thinking that will be cheap! After cleaning fees, insurance fees, website fees and so on you will pay almost twice the price that was advertised! For me it was worth it :)
This is a cozy home big enough for a big family with children. We used it over the weekend during a soccer tournament in Flagstaff and we had the best experience. The home has a big kitchen and enough sitting area in the living room. The backyard is wonderful , our kids had a great time playing outdoors. I will definetly recomend this home.
This home was the perfect location and great price for our extended family of 10! As some other reviewer stated - I was worried about booking this home with very few reviews. However, this house was exactly as stated - not a lot of frills, but it fit all of us comfortably, was very cleian and had everything you need. Matt was extremely accommodating and was quick to reply with any questions I had before the trip. Enjoyed a couple of meals at the Mountainaire Tavern during our visit. Would highly recommend - it's less than a mile from the home with a small town country feel. We all also really enjoyed staying a few miles outside of Flagstaff - home is nestled in a beautiful area. We took walks around the neighborhood - or you could hike right outside the back door.

Beautiful Back Yard,
My family of 9 rented as we were helping one move to area. Was very cozy and comfortable area ,back yard is the wonderful woods that my children and father loved with trails all over we enjoyed fires outside and inside most is provided pots pans silverware towels washer dryer and extra linens And blankets Just a great place with a great host.
This house was perfect for our group of ten people and dogs! Matt was a dream to be in contact with. Always timely, detailed responses to any questions we had, even long before we booked. The house is no frills and unique, with several bedrooms to house our crew. We had a few sleep on the pull out couches as well and everyone was comfortable. We are not the frilly type so this house suited us well. The kitchen and dining area were large enough for us all to meander around and it was great to have the bedrooms and upstairs to escape to when we wanted peace and quiet. The fenced part of the yard was great for our dogs, one of which is a Great Dane. They had plenty of room. The kids loved running through the forest right out the back door. We didn't visit the Tavern but drove the quick ten mins into Flagstaff both days we were there. It's an easy drive. This neighborhood is quiet and the houses vary from retired mobile homes to brand new construction. We appreciated that it wasn't cookie cutter! We were initially concerned about the lack of reviews on this site but trust us, this place is a must. Well-priced, lots of room, and a great host. If you check the other home away site you'll find tons of great reviews on this home and host there, not to worry. We look forward to coming back and staying in Matt's place again. Only wish we could have stayed longer!
