We really enjoyed our two week stay here. In fact we asked about the possibility of staying on longer but couldnât as there were new arrivals. (Worth a try though).
If you want a complete get away then this is for you. So quiet, but with easy access to the main tourist areas when required. Mousehole about 15 min walk. Penzance 10mins in car. Lands End approx 8 miles etc, etc. The property has a lovely garden area to sit and relax. You can see the sea from the garden in the distance. It is just beautiful.
Hugh and Bernice are wonderful hosts. There to help/offer local advice if needed and nothing is too much trouble - thank you to both.
We had a fantastic two weeks and will return. Highly recommended
My husband and I had a very disappointing experience. The access is via steep steps that are uneven and in my opinion not suitable for many younger or more mature visitors. Inside: below expected standard. The cutlery was dirty, as was the cutlery draw - the first thing we did was wash it all. The guide book was dirty and had some kind of bird excrement inside. I remade the bed (the duvet wasnât properly fitted) and found the pillows were dirty and stained. Anyone over 5â10â tall will find the low ceilings a challenge. There is nowhere to dry any wet coats or boots. Overall very disappointing we were booked in for a week and left after 2 days.
Wonderful stay in a charming cottage . Thoughtful hosts who gave a warm welcome , wine and homemade marmalade in the fridge and flowers in the living room. .Apple Retreat is comfortably furnished with all you need for a relaxing holiday . Beautiful views from the kitchen window with the sea in the distance . We would definitely visit again .
From booking the cottage to the day we left everything was a breeze. Perfect base to explore the area, quiet, lovely view from the kitchen, not overlooked, very private, clean and so cosy and quaint with an amazing shower. Lovely owners that make you feel so welcome, if we ever go to this area again wouldn't hesitate to book. Thank you for letting us stay at your property
Had a great time at the âApple Retreatâ. Property is quirky but well laid out and was ideal for us (couple plus dog). Location is very quiet and with easy access to local walks.
Highly recommended
Ideal private bolthole for those who like to be out and about.
Friendly , helpful host when required, otherwise keeps away ensuring a private peaceful stay. Very comfortable bed and lovely shower. Basic but homely and perfect if you want to be in a quiet location but with easy access to Mousehole and Newlyn. Five minute walk to pub. Ideal for dog walking, with fields and public footpaths at the end of the drive at the end of the drive
Communication was excellent with good directions & check in details provided in advance. The accommodation is in the upper level of a converted 17th centaury barn, accessed via the shared conservatory with the owners, that leads to a small secluded garden with an external stone staircase leading up to the property. There are no other accommodations below, so very private.
The conversion is very well done and in keeping with the property. The ceiling height is low circa 6'4", but as a 6 footer myself I had no issues.
The kitchen as all the amenities required i.e. full size cooker, microwave, toaster, fridge freezer etc.
The living room was well appointed and comfortable with a lovely fireplace.
The bathroom is light and bright with an excellent shower with great water pressure!
The bedroom is comfortable with plenty of space.
The village is quaint with a local pub just a few minutes walk away and there are plenty of places to exercise your dog if required. Mousehole is only a 15 minute walk away where there plenty of
This property was built in 1711 and has many historical features. It is in a secluded location yet 5 minutes walk to the local pub and church. Itâs a further 10 mins to Mousehole with its fishing harbour, restaurants and pubs. Just 20 minutes down a quiet country lane and you are in Newlyn with its fishmongers, harbour and more restaurants, pubs and cinema. Surfing beaches at Porthcurno and Sennen are within easy reach.
Fresh air, birdsong and little traffic. St Michaelâs Mount is within four miles and itâs less than twice that distance to the famous Minack theatre, carved out of the cliff. Cornwall is host to some beautiful gardens, rugged coast and plenty of wildlife. A retreat from the urban environment, where you can walk the coastal paths which look over the changing colours of the sea.
