Great house and property as advertised. View of the quaint port and headland kept smiles on our faces throughout our stay. House was comfortable for everyone and convenient to many recreational opportunities. Even our dog loved watching the deer and crows out the window!
We really enjoyed our stay here. House is pretty spacious, especially kitchen, dining, and living room areas. Great view of the shoreline, Battlerock, and the port. We had fun watching through the binoculars provided by the host. A short, maybe 1 min, drive down to parking for the beach. Overall, a nice place for a family getaway.
All was great except the tv service changed so we missed some mlb and nfl games until we figured out to download Sling and watch live tv
Should update the web site
Beautiful home, private, park-like setting with wonderful views
Owners were great to work with, prompt communication, and provide a wonderful clean and amazing home, plus they have interesting art work, and are pet friendly. Everything was great and even though we had to leave a day earlier (for personal reasons), from the moment we arrived we felt comfortable and special in this house. Looking forward to coming back again!
We had a great time at this very spacious home. The artwork is fantastic and made the property very special. The deck has relaxing seating and outstanding views.
We met the host at the Hawthorne gallery and he was very helpful to provide us with wine glasses since there were none at the house.
We had a wonderful meal at Redfish restaurant.
We had a wonderful time at this beautiful property. Home was clean and fully equipped with everything we needed! Enjoyed the spectacular views, unique art and beach only 2 minutes away by car! Look forward to visiting Port Orford again! Be sure to eat at The Redfish Restaurant and a visit to The Hawthorne Gallery is a must! Thanks Chris!
This is a very clean, spacious and relaxing home. Everything there was top notch. I wish I would have gotten the necessities to make a latte with the espresso maker but I didn't want to take the time to do it. The beaches were beckoning me! We did very little cooking but everything was there if we had wanted to cook.
We loved going from room to room looking at all of the gorgeous art. It is spectacular!
Port Orford is my happy place. I will be back.
Good protection from the harsh coastal winds. Great place to relax and see lots of the local wildlife. Large yard with views of shoreline while being just a minute or two from Pier and town.
Breathtaking.
Only a few things that need to be addressed 1) the master bathroom shower had a serious leak, 2) the front door was difficult - it needs to be adjusted in order to function, 3) there were no salad plates and very little in the way of kitchen utensils I.e. scissors that cut, a wine opener that works, etc.
Your property is awesome. Beautiful inside and out. We had a relaxing evening and enjoyed sleeping to the sound of the waves. Also wud like to recommend Redfish restaurant our breakfast was outstanding.
This is our most favorite place we have ever stayed!!! The views and sounds of the ocean were magic, the layout and floor plan flow so well, we didnât want to leave! So close to town, but feels like absolute seclusion.
Chris and Julie have a wonderful home in Port Orford and our party of 4 were very comfortable in the space. The home was sparkling clean and had all the amenities one might need including a well stocked kitchen and a beautiful view of the ocean out back. Chris was really communicative which helped make our stay easy and enjoyable. We definitely hope to be back one day!
Chris Hawthorne is a glass artist that built, owns and operates Redfish, a fine dining restaurant, serving lunch and dinner as well as brunch on Saturday and Sunday. Chris is the second owner of this beautiful property that was homesteaded by Louis Knapp. The Knapp family owned it until they sold it to Chris in 1995. It was the first vacation rental in Port Orford. It is a unique property in Port Orford because the site is protected from the NW winds of summer as well as the SW winds of winter. It's spectacular ocean view as well as it's beautiful view of the Port of Port Orford make it the perfect spot to storm watch in the winter and to watch the fishing boats leave and arrive back in Port during the summer. It is very close to the downtown area of Port Orford and Battle Rock Park yet has a feeling of seclusion and privacy seldom found in accommodations with this kind of proximity to the town and to the beaches.
