We loved the location. The apartment was beautiful, and the view was gorgeous. Our host was lovely and very helpful, and we found the check-in process to be smooth. Would definitely recommend!
The apartment was exactly as described by the owner. Communication with the owner and her daughter was excellent and they were warm, friendly and very considerate of anything I might need. There was a welcoming basket in the apartment upon my arrival consisting of a bottle of white wine and many other treats. The views of the town below, the Aegean Sea, and the magnificent sunsets were wonderful. I cannot recommend this apartment highly enough.
It was wonderful. The ad does not promise too much. The apartment is small, but was absolutely fine and sufficient for the two of us. It was clean and also quite cool due to its location. From a back door , you climb a few steps up and suddenly stands on a simply gorgeous terrace with an indescribably beautiful view. We had the terrace also surprisingly for us, which made it even more cozy. We felt very comfortable and are now thinking about whether we come back next year :)
PS: The climb is absolutely doable for young, fit people.
We stayed in this apartment with our two children, aged 11 and 8, and my parents stayed in the studio apartment (they share the beautiful terrace). The host, Yanna (who lives in another apartment in the house) is very lovely and accommodating and made sure we understood how everything worked etc. but then left us to enjoy the space for the 10 days we were there. The apartment was airy and comfortable. The children loved watching the sweet kittens from the window! Aircon works well. Balcony off the main bedroom has a beautiful view and place to dry clothes. The shower is the usual thing in Greece of holding it. We didn't need hot water as the cold water coming through was quite warm and the weather v hot! The apartment is about a 10 minute climb up quite a few steps from town, so easier in the evenings when it's cooler! The steps coming down are occasionally a bit slippy so care is required but it's not too hard. The view of the harbour from the apartment absolutely beautiful. There are a couple of nice bakeries in town so it's lovely to bring breakfast up to the terrace - or watch the twinkling lights with a drink in the evening. We found Hydra itself v beautiful and the local people friendly and accommodating like elsewhere in Greece. Some of the spots are a bit 'exclusive' and over-organised with having to reserve / pay a lot for sunbeds etc. Favourite beach was Yanna's suggestion of Saint Nicholas, which was quite pricey to get to on the beach boat but is a lovely half hour boat ride and it's great to stay all day - nice friendly beach bar and amazing snorkelling, absolutely gorgeous clear water. It's worth getting the first boat at 10.30 - but arrive for 10 as there is a queue! We also really liked the little beach at Mandraki (before the main resort) - which is about a 20 minute walk in the other direction on a good footpath. All the eating places we went to in town were lovely. The family tavernas slightly behind like Lulus and Steki are a little cheaper and have lovely traditional greek food. Neokosmidis was a lovely base and we were v happy and comfortable there. Thanks to Yanna!
Stayed at larger apartment with four people in total. Apartment Style is a little dated but quaint at the same time all the basic are there, beds comfortable, everything you need in kitchen, the views of the two bedrooms and the terrace are stunning. Suggest you need to be fit to walk up and down cobbled stone stairs in the heat, worth it though when having a glass of wine over looking the harbour
A view requires climbing flights of streets. The cobblestone leading to house is quite a trek, but it was a beautiful view to wake up every morning. House was clean, but the lack of cleaning materials are not readily available. The description was for 3bdrm, but there were only 2. (Unless living room is counted as 1). Internet connection didnât work most of the time, so we had to buy our own hotspot access. Air conditioner on a hot summer was excellent!
The picture of the bigger deck was a flight up to the unit and not connected to the unit.
It was a nice house, but it made it hard for us to go back and forth easily to town. I actually injured and fractured my foot on our last day going down from the house. It was very unfortunate (though obviously not the fault of the apartment).
The pictures donât lie, the views are spectacular. We had the best week here in Hydra. The apartment is well equipped with everything you need. Thereâs plenty of room for four and the beds are very comfortable. Opening the windows every morning was a treat we wonât forget. It goes without saying there are steps, itâs Hydra, we looked on it as good exercise.
Thankyou Vianna for a lovely stay. Highly recommend.
Yes, the ascent is challenging but the view from the apartment's terrace is more than rewarding! We always enjoyed the sunset from the apartment before walking down to the restaurants. None of them offers a comparable view over the harbour and the Gulf of Hydra.
We also used the kitchen for breakfast and cooking. Everything you need is there. The beds are not the softest ones but we slept very well. For tall people they could be a little bit longer (I'm 2m).
The hosts, Yianna and Anthi, are wonderful people who really care about their guests. They've also organized the mules for carrying our luggage up the stairs on arrival.
All in all, I would definitely chose this apartment again. Kindness of the hosts, location and value for money is outstanding.
