Great location, beautiful flat-exactly as described and shown in pictures. The Cathedral view from the window is stunning. Would love to stay here again next time in Exeter.
The location and view was absolutely perfect as was the style of the apartment
Sorry but you did ask the skirting board needs to be painted , the fire doesnât work it turns on for a few seconds then goes out , the ovens were not clean and the bedroom window was absolutely filthy
I have no problem with paying 95 for a cleaner but you expect it to be clean , Iâm sorry but I felt that being asked to pay and take the bins out was a bit ridiculous
A real shame because we loved the apartment
The apartment was ideally placed in the Cathedral Close near to shops and restaurants. It was a very well-appointed space with comfortable bed and chairs and wonderful views from the sitting area.
Good kitchen equipment although it was not always easy to understand the instruction manuals! The entry system was secure and it was good to have the lift.
Just as its title indicates, this property is located in the Exeter Cathedral Close. The view is outstanding. This lovely flat is conveniently located in the center of town, a block from the High Street. The flat is well-appointed, modern, and very clean. Fiona and James were excellent hosts who endeavored to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Our family lives nearby and we hope to stay here again in the future. Thank you, Fiona and James.
Location superb
Very clean
Heating, equipment, supplies to avoid niggling need for washer, tablets dishwasher all thought through.
Niggles - TV has no terrestrial live TV which when being used on business trip was really frustrating when coming home at night - assumed freeview is given really
Wifi connect very slow for city centre loaction - 10MBPs/1MBps upload was really slow for work and large files, for many probably not issue but was for me.
Of note, but not major for me - first two nights significant number of people outside door drinking/cannabis not majorly disruptive, just bit offputting at night - I guess always risk in city centre plus Edinburgh Woollen Mill closure probably unhelpful, so suspect this is temporary and won't be into future - all cleared/gone by nights 3-5
Overall, very close to a 5 for me, just slightly off because of TV and wifi speed.
Great location with plenty of restaurants and shopping within a few steps. Spacious living area, kitchen was super practical with most everything needed to prepare a meal. Bedroom ok with closet space to hang clothes , but no chest of drawers or even a luggage stand to rest a suitcase on. Our suitcases sat on the floor for the length of our stay. You really are overlooking the cathedral green, which was super fun, with lots to watch going onout on the grass & in the square. It could be bit loud at night, but the bedroom is at the back, and so quite isolated from any noise. Bathroom was good, only complaint is no counter space to place bathroom items, they had to be placed on a ledge about a metre off the floor. Super great to have a washer/dryer combo. The dryer cycle was a wee bit loud. Elevator is super slow, only used when we had to take our luggage up & down. Convenient parking at NPC Market Street Car Park. Cost was 14.95 per night if you use the app to pay, or 16.95 at the machine when you park. Overall this is a very good spot, I would stay here again.
Location is excellent. Parking nearby in public car parks at cost. Apartment was very well furnished, quiet and clean. The living space is plenty big enough for a couple. We would definitely stay here again.
We received no details about check-in and had to request these the day before arrival.
It's also worth noting that the TVs are smart only, requiring you to log in to your accounts for On Demand services. If you're traveling from overseas, you're unlikely to have these.
A coat stand/hooks in the small hallway would also be of use!
The property is ideally located in the heart of Exeter with a grand view of the Cathedral. The only issue is that the local hooligans congregate on the grass in front of the church and stay all night. Yelling and fighting.
By morning the drunks leave only to return by 5 or 6 pm.
The property has a full kitchen, including laundry washer and dryer.
The dryer takes a long time to dry clothes so I made a make shift close line that dried our stuff in less time.
We cut our trip to Exeter short by 2 nights to return to London. 2 to 3 days in Exeter is enough.
A large light and airy very well equipped apartment with a fantastic view. You could be anywhere in the world - but for us just an hour up the road! An old building which has its own quirks that somehow adds to its charm! Many restaurants on the doorstep - spoilt for choice. Very enjoyable stay.
Exceptional rental property where nothing was too much trouble
From the moment Philip contacted us we had a feeling that our vacation in Exeter would be stress-free. We knew that we would have to quarantine on arrival in the UK so we wanted a property that was large, sunny, spacious, and well equipped. 3 Clifton Court exceeded all our expectations. Beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean, high quality linens (with plenty of thick towels - thank you!), excellent bathrooms, comfy beds, and a peaceful private garden across the road.
The kitchen was the greatest surprise. Oftentimes, a rental property kitchen is very basic. With having to quarantine for up to 10 days I had arranged a delivery of groceries and wine from Waitrose and had planned some interesting meals. The kitchen had EVERYTHING I needed - even a large pestle and mortar! With the three French windows open and the sun streaming in, it was memorable.
We were able to entertain easily later in our holiday.
Philip was quick to respond to any requests or questions and was so helpful to us. The little touches were very thoughtful - we arrived after a long-haul flight and long drive to find nice bread, butter, milk, apple juice, scones, jam, strawberries, and Devonshire clotted cream in the fridge.
We will most definitely be back (as is clearly the case with other guests when reading the guest book).
The pandemic meant we last saw the family 18 months ago - thank you for making what could have been a stressful reunion into a joyful retreat.
My husband and I stayed in the apartment for 5 nights. Excellent base for exploring Devon. The apartment was opposite the cathedral so very central and when the windows are closed it is very quiet. It was very clean and comfortable and the pictures on the website are accurate. The shower was really powerful which is always a bonus and the bed was comfortable. Plenty of good restaurants within a 10 minute walk. Harry's Restaurant in Longbrook Street is definitely worth a visit.
The apartment is beautifully renovated and setup. We chose Exeter for its close proximity to the scenic Devon coast and Dartmoor; both of which we enjoyed immensely. As noted in another review, the compact microwave is slightly challenging to figure out, guests need to refer to the instruction manual. Also worth checking out the recycling process on arrival to save time later. We parked our car in the Mary Arches Street carpark which is within walking distance. The parking can get expensive, depending what time of day you drop the car off and then retrieve the following day (after 6pm seems to be far less). We did have an issue with the internet connection for the first 24 hours however the owner was in touch and this was sorted out by restarting the router after we were given access to it.
We thoroughly enjoyed this exceptional apartment. Not only does it overlook Exeter Cathedral, but to complete this beautiful view, one can also see out across to the hillsides on the far side of the Exe. We also enjoyed relaxing in the spacious living room. The neighborhood was fantastic. Everything you could need is right around the corner, including a Guild Hall shopping mall with a grocery store. An array of restaurants, pubs, and coffee shops are all very close by. The plaza in front of the cathedral is a lively scene at all hours, but as promised, when the windows are closed almost all street noise is completely shut out. The bedroom is cozy and perfectly quiet. It could use some dresser drawers in addition to the abundant closet space. The bathroom is clean and contemporary with a rain shower. This apartment perfectly suited our needs for a 5-day working stay.
This flat, overlooking the Cathedral and its square, can't be beaten as for location and convenience. It's within an easy walk of one of the train stations and it's at the centre of town, around the corner from the high street. Lots to do in Exeter, and the public walking tours start on the Cathedral square, so it couldn't be more conductive to full participation. This city is an under-stated gem, and the flat is a new renovation, in pristine condition. Our only complaint is modern new appliances that defy easy understanding; fortunately, instructional manuals are at hand.
