In summer months with high temperatures, this 6ft diameter and 2ft height cowboy tub (seats 2-4 adults, 395 gallons) is perfect for cooling off. You can add ice bags to make it like an ice bath. To keep the water cool, use shade, fresh water, or a block of ice.

*Important things to know about Cardinal Casita:
》Casita and the main home share the same land but are independent units. You’ll still have plenty of privacy.
》There may be guests in the main house of the property when you rent. Just respect each other's privacy.
》Remote property without many stores. Plan accordingly. There’s a Walgreens nearby; grocery store is 20+ minutes away.
》Located on a dirt road. Expect a little bit of dust.
》Food delivery is sparse; just a few places deliver on UberEats.
》You'll need a car to get around. Uber and Lyft are difficult here.
》Pest control sprays the home monthly with non-toxic, environmentally friendly chemicals to help keep the bugs away.

Guest Access:
Guests have access to the entire casita and private yard areas. The driveway is shared with the main home on the property, but you’ll have a space for one vehicle.

The Neighborhood:
Located in northern Scottsdale on a dirt road with a charming desert vibe! You’ll be about a 35 minute drive to North Scottsdale shops and restaurants, shops, but this location is special in that you’ll find endless hikes on beautiful trails, surrounded by nature and clear stargazing at night! It's a wonderful opportunity to disconnect and get away from it all!

Getting Around:
The home is 37 miles | 60 km (about a 40-min drive) from the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) and 18.6 miles | 30 km (about a 30-min drive) from the Scottsdale Airport (SCF). You’ll need a car to get around, as Uber and Lyft ride services are difficult to get to/from the property.

Other Things to Note:
STATE LAW STRICTLY PROHIBITS PARTIES/EVENTS. The city of Scottsdale has quiet hours from 10 pm to 8 am to respect the neighbors. The home is outfitted with NoiseAware (that measures volume decibels; does not record) which notifies us when noise levels at the home exceed a set limit. Violating noise ordinances is an initial $500 fine.

We use TRUVI for guest screening. Your TRUVI application must match the primary guest on the reservation, and the background check must be completed within 48 hours of receiving your booking confirmation, per State and City law. Your booking is NOT confirmed until these requirements are fulfilled. Once the reservation is confirmed, and prior to check-in, guests must sign a Rental Agreement stating that they agree to 1) abide by our rental terms and conditions; 2) provide a copy of a valid government-issued ID and matching credit card prior to check-in; and 3) pay a non-refundable damage waiver of $35 via TRUVI, which covers you for any accidental damage during your stay. Please look out for TRUVI to contact you for next steps!

The cleaning fee is pass-through, meaning the entire amount goes to our cleaning team! We partner with Well & Good and pay more than the average rate to guarantee a clean and safe environment for our guests. W&G Promises: 1) Professional Cleaners (trained & certified) 2) Offsite Laundering like fresh hotel linens & 3) Guest Essentials: luxury soaps and more. If you'd like a mid-stay cleaning, please let us know.

The landscaper visits the property every Tuesday.

House Rules:
- Travelers must be at least 25 years of age or older to book.
- Primary guest on the reservation must stay at the rental property.
- We allow children with the following stipulations: 1) Guests are responsible for any and all necessary 'child-proofing' 2) Children under age 13 must be supervised by an adult at all times.
- Max occupancy is 4. Daytime visitors are ok but must not stay overnight. There is a $250 per person fine for overnight guests over max occupancy.
- Locals, contact us before booking. Instabook is unavailable for residents coming from within 4 hours of Scottsdale.
- Guests may be required to provide a government ID on the day of check-in or during their stay.
- Mail service is not provided. While packages can be delivered to your doorstep, access to the mailbox is not available.
- No smoking of any kind inside the home! Failure to comply will incur a $2,500 penalty if damage to furniture or any smoking odor is detected.
- Recreational drug use or any illegal activity at the property is strictly prohibited. Failure to comply incurs a $300 penalty.
- Guests agree to cover any cost related to damages that occurred during their stay, including extra-cleaning charges if needed or any unauthorized pets if discovered during or within a reasonable amount of time after their stay. These amounts are charged to the credit card on file and followed by an email breaking down the fees and damages. No charges are ever processed without prior written notice. The minimum fine for damages is $500.
- Cleaning services are available for a fee. Please notify your host to arrange it.
- For stays of 25 nights or longer, there is a mandatory mid-stay cleaning that's complimentary. Our team will contact you during your stay to coordinate the best day to do it.
- No mail service. Packages can be delivered to the doorstep; access to the mailbox is not available.
- Arizona has a severe water shortage. Please help by taking shorter showers and loading up the washing machine before running a load.
- The home is on well water with a septic tank. All pipes lead to the septic tank. Please follow these basic rules, as fees may apply if we need to repair the tank. 1) Never flush anything other than toilet paper. NOT EVEN flushable wipes. 2) Use the trash for all waste disposal. Food debris, cooking oil, fats, grease, coffee grounds, etc., go in the trash, not in the sink disposal. 3) Avoid using any harsh chemicals.
- There is a surveillance camera on the front patio facing the driveway for guest safety and security.
- Dog-friendly property (max 2 dogs) with prior authorization only, and a pet fee applies. You must clean up after your dog or incur a $150 additional cleaning fee.
- Please put the cover back on the pool when not in use.
- Use of the exercise bike is at your own risk. Always consult a healthcare professional before starting any new exercise routine. If you use the exercise bike, you agree to assume full responsibility for any injuries or damages that may occur.
- The Homeowner is not responsible for any accidents, injuries or illness that occurs while on the premises or its facilities. The Homeowners are not responsible for the loss of personal belongings or valuables of the guest. By accepting this reservation, it is agreed that all guests are expressly assuming the risk of any harm arising from their use of the premises or others whom they invite to use the premise.

The home uses a Smart Lock keyless entry where you can check yourself in using the electronic door code.
You’ll have complete privacy during your stay, but we’re available 7 days a week. Should you need anything, just send us a message.

Cute little place

You definitely need a gps to find the place but it’s great once you’re there! It was a perfect fit for the two of us while watching a golf tournament at the close by Rio Verde. As mentioned stores etc are at least 15 min away but if you plan accordingly then that isn’t an issue. The casita is very nice.

Great little stay!

Plenty of room for a getaway. Great amenities. Everything you need for a short or long stay. Loved the overall feel. They did a great job. We're stealing the shower tile idea for our next place. Quiet location tucked away at the back of the property. For mountain bikers and hikers McDowell is right there.

Desert Casita

Do not hesitate to chose the casita if you are looking for a quiet and private setting in the desert. It will not disappoint. You will need a car as the casita is not located near conveniences. I found this part of the charm and serenity. There is ample parking for one vehicle. All amenities are first class, the casita is well appointed with everything you will need to feel at home. All appliances are new and work well. Having a washer and dryer was very nice. I stayed for 3 1/2 weeks with two small dogs. The back yard was fenced giving them adequate room to enjoy the outdoors. The patio deck and sitting area were wonderful perfect for coffee in the morning sunshine. Bedroom and bathroom are spacious with a comfortable king bed. There is also a queen hide-a-bed in the living area, maximum sleeping capacity is 4. The casita is well illuminated at night and feels secure. I thoroughly enjoyed staying at the casita and will definitely consider staying again.

Rio Verde casita

This was the second time we stayed here. Great location close to many hiking trails. The casita was the perfect size, very clean and well stocked. The bed was very comfortable. Checking was seamless and any questions were answered promptly. I can’t say anything negative about it. We Hope to return.

Quiet location and easy access to hiking and biking trails

This was a perfect place for the two of us to stay. Really cute casita, with everything you need in a compact space, and nice private area to sit outside. We were in the Scottsdale area to get away from cold weather up in Wyoming, and enjoy some mountain biking and hiking. This place was close to McDowell Preserve, Granite Mtn trailhead, and a 20 minute drive to Cave Creek Regional Park.

AMAAAAZING Find! At the last minute I needed a quiet place for a week of business in Scottsdale. I always prefer to find a home vs hotel for the practical reasons of being able to cook, spread out and relax. I stumbled onto the Casita and fell in love with everything about the place. It’s a little tricky to find at night but the directions and support team made it a breeze even when I arrived near mid nite. Just as the pictures show, the Casita is a fabulously upgraded and luxuriously appointed hideaway. Of course it checked all the basic boxes of cleanliness, nicely supplied basics etc, but all of the “little touches” really made the place feel special. The modern/desert decor is spot on and the bed & pillows are incredibly comfortable. As someone who likes to cook, the fact that the kitchen was well outfitted beyond simply the basics was much appreciated. While all of these features alone would have been enough to rank the Casita as one of my favorites, the outside courtyard and deck were an INCREDIBLE plus! Whether lying in the hammock, grilling steaks or sipping a bit of wine on the huge deck sofa while staring up at the starlit sky…I honestly felt like I never wanted to leave. I was almost hesitant to leave this review for fear that it will be harder for me to find available weeks, but I couldn’t resist giving proper thanks to the host and team that really made a business stay anything but “business as usual”.
