Bright and airy modern home in historic Highlands neighbourhood
Vinyl floors in the bedrooms and wood treads on the stairs and hardwood throughout. This family friendly house was built with reunions in mind. It has a main floor den with a double bed, to cater to those with limited mobility. A spacious master bedroom to provide a retreat away from the chaos of city life, and a mini-fridge. 3 additional bedrooms on the second floor so that everyone can have their own room. A full deck and propane fire pit for evening gatherings.
Price, size and location sums up the best parts of this place!
We did not get the code until after contacting vbro customer service, but once that was figured out communication was much better when needed.
Once we got inside we loved the place....until we took a closer look and realized it didn't feel so clean. Two of the three showers were not cleaned well at all, still soap scum and hair on the bottom and shelves, the kitchen sink had a pretty nasty looking dish sponge but the worse were the main floor floors. Bring your indoor shoes...the floors were bad! My socks were almost instantly black after walking with only socks on. And as mentioned in other reviews the yard could use some help. The deck was nice but the unusable BBQ took up a lot of space along with the falling apart broken propane firepit that was absolutely covered in cigarette butts.
I think if it wasn't for the cleanliness issue this would be the perfect place for a family to stay in Edmonton. A great price for the amount of rooms and the location was perfect for us.
I would stay again but I'd bring my own Swiffer wetjet!
Oh..... neighbours are very friendly....the ones that live in the basement and the ones that live beside the house.
The check-in process was horrible. The host did not provide us with a door code and we were not able to access the property for 6 hours after the check-in time. The host did not respond to phone calls or messages. We stayed on hold with customer support for 2 hours. When we finally had access to the property, we found it to be extremely filthy. There were holes in the wall and the front window, bugs in the bedding, the floorboards were broken and lifting up from the ground, causing us to hit our feet and injure ourselves. The floor had not been mopped or swept and our feet became very dirty. The sliding door to bathroom off the master bedroom was stuck open halfway. You could not open or close it. The shower and sink in the second bath upstairs would not drain properly. Previous guests had left vulgar drawing and remarks on the whiteboard in permanent marker which were not removed. I would not recommend this place unless you want to live in a broken, run down, dirty house with no communication from the host. VRBO ended up refunding our stay because it was that bad.
problems with this stay:
cleanliness - door knobs light switches very dirty. Hair balls on floor.
chemical smells.
4 small hand towels were supplied that was it. No face clothes or larger towels were supplied. we found 2 bath towels day 3 in the dryer for 4 adults No Hand soap
Unbelievable cooking smells from basement tenets, arguments were heard.
front window cracked with a whole that really looked like a bullet hole -
upon arrival 1 toilet was plugged. we were notified that a plumber would be coming, he did show up after 8:30 pm scared us 4 woman. He tried to help start the gas fire place - unable to as it was set up.
Huge security issues: We came home to a WIDE open door twice. A realtor went through the showed the house - I did receive a text on short notice but was unable to read it as we were working. We felt very violated to know people were taken threw a home where our private belonging and valuables were
we were given a $50 credit for this violation of invasion of personal property â Have not seen it yet though
And totally weird compensation of such a horrific violation of entry.
We built this house with our family in mind. A room for each child to have their space and a main floor bedroom for grandparents with limited mobility. Large eat-in kitchen for adult conversations while the kids are enjoying in the living room. The formal dining room is a flex room and can be used for a younger kid play area, or yoga in the morning.
Centrally located, one block from the river valley, close to Concordia university, wayne gretzy, yellowhead and the expo. Two blocks from borden park natural pool, the art in the park and lots of restaurants in the highlands area.
