Spacious apartment on homestead; Experience sustainable living

The apartment is a self contained private unit with its own entrance. It is within our house, but all spaces, including the entrance, are private to the renter.
Cold Creek Homestead is nestled on the border of Northumberland and Hastings counties near the rural village of Wooler. We raise chickens for eggs and honey bees. We have a large market garden and several fruit trees. We have a wide range of homemade items such as jams, jellies, baba ganoush, pesto, honey, etc., depending on the season. We're always trying something new. The 35 acre property backs on to Cold Creek which can be accessed by a 1.5 km walking trail. We own a local bird feeding/watching and nature store in Belleville and have set up a bird feeding station for you to enjoy directly outside the apartment window.
Within 30 minutes are several lovely Ontario towns including Brighton, Warkworth, Cobourg, Campbellford, Frankford, and Trenton. The Waterfront Trail and Prince Edward County are at your doorstep. Plenty of provincial parks and conservation areas offer excellent beaches, hiking, swimming, cycling and birdwatching. There are dozens of craft breweries and wineries, farmer's markets and one of Ontario's best waterfront patios, all nearby. Many of the local farms are open to the public for apple and berry picking, and several offer an opportunity to meet their animals. Come experience our sustainable, country lifestyle!

Beautiful Country Setting

The rental was just perfect for what we needed. Beautiful surroundings, Laura was an awesome host and it was quiet and tranquil and a really nice place to stay. Loved seeing the chickens and all of the birds coming to the feeders. 10/10 for sure!!

Charming Homestead Stay

Absolutely wonderful experience! The hosts are exceptional folks, and the surrounding area is rural and beautiful. I definitely recommend this getaway, and would stay again. You will enjoy the chickens and garden right outside your door and a beautiful walking path full of wildflowers (in season.) I was traveling for work, but this was such a refreshing place to rest.

Great home base for Trenton visit

This unit was perfect for us…peaceful and in the country but close enough to Trenton (by vehicle of course). It is very spacious and clean. We’d definitely stay again.

Newly renovated suite on a beautiful rural lot

I was very happy staying here, the apartment was nicely renovated with a comfortable bed. The door faces a wide open field and there is some wildlife on the property that adds to the atmosphere. The hosts are friendly and helpful.

The apartment is located in a small village and is ideal for nature lovers and bird watchers. It has direct access to a 1.5-kilometer trail. Everything was very clean and well maintained. Laura and Dan are very good hosts. Thanks again for the honey just extracted!

Nice country stay

Cute open concept, comfortable bed, great hiking trail, great water pressure, private entrance. We did find the room quite cold, however there was a space heater which warmed up the room quite well. Wifi/internet did fade out both nights we were there, however we weren’t necessarily there to watch TV. Family does live above, so you do hear them walking around , otherwise it was great.

Very nice rental accommodation

Very nice rental in the country. The rental was spacious, clean, and private. It offered an outdoor sitting area with a lovely country view. The hosts were friendly and helpful. Would definitely return in the future.

Quiet in the Country

Only 15 minutes out of Brighton Ontario but it feels like you’re way far away from everything. Laura is an excellent communicator and is very helpful.

Peaceful Retreat

Laura was incredibly kind, communicative and accommodating! My partner, our dog and I had a lovely peaceful getaway from the city. The location is quiet and the apartment is perfect for a couple. The products from their homestead are delicious, so be sure to ask what's in season. I would highly recommend this property and host to anyone.

We really enjoyed our stay at Laura & Dan's place. It was quiet and relaxing and everything was spotless. We walked along the trail on their lovely property and took in the fresh fall air. Laura communicates promptly and I appreciated our little chat. Thank you!

Enjoyable visit!

This lovely spot was like a breath of fresh air, providing a welcome break for me and my small dog. Everything was as I had hoped, clean, well-set-up and welcoming. I hadn’t brought any dishes with me, so I would suggest that 1or2 place settings would add to the comfort of the day. This didn’t spoil my five star assessment of this VRBO!

A tranquil retreat

We had a very relaxing and peaceful stay at Laura’s. The room beautifully decorated to fit the location. It was clean and everything was there that we needed. The outside was stunningly gorgeous, calm and quiet. There was a walking trail through the woods which was a beautiful way to start our day. Our hosts were very friendly and approachable and quick to respond when we had questions. They also directed us to restaurants in the area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Quinte West and look forward to a longer stay next time.

Incredible gem

We stayed at the homestead for the July long weekend. The hosts are gracious, kind, and very welcoming. They have a small farm with bees and chickens which were really fun to see and visit. They’ve got farm fresh goodies to buy - be sure to look at the price list on the fridge. There’s also Kiwi, the homestead dog who is really friendly and sociable - and was the highlight for our pup! The unit itself is very clean, spacious and comfortable. You’ll be sure to get great sleep! We had a great time hanging out at the property itself. The place comes with everything we’d need and extras - such as a microwave, amazing coffee and tea! The hosts also provide lots of information pamphlets on local attractions in PEC and surrounding towns. PEC is about a 30 min drive through picturesque country side which made the trip even more enjoyable! It is great value for money and one of the best places we stayed at. Thank you both again for having us and our puppy. We can’t wait to be back!
