à propos de cet hébergement
Waterfront Comfy Guesthouse, Prince Edward County
When you arrive, you will see plenty of free parking space, with a "Guest Entrance" sign on the side of the garage. You can park anywhere you like, except directly in front of the garage during the winter. You will see a nicely arranged welcoming flower garden/seasonal decor beside the driveway.
You will walk beside the garage through a vine covered archway to the backyard, where you will find a kennel door that opens to an enclosed small patio with a lifejacet shed in front of you, and the private Airbnb entrance up a small deck, with a keypad lock for self check in at any time.
You will see a large back yard sectioned off exclusively for your use, and as you walk down the yard, you will see a badminton/ volleyball net, and a firepit for your private use. It will have a pre-made fire set up so that all you have to do it light it. All firewood is free, and there are color packets you can use in the fire for more greens and blues.
You will notice a tree swing, a hammock and a porch swing overlooking Weller's Bay, all for your private use. There are plenty of chairs to sit on the dock, or around the fire, and 2 lounge chairs that can recline. Also for your private and free use is a paddle boat, 2 paddleboards,2 canoes, and 3 kayaks. I recommend you bring water shoes since it is a rocky bottom, and it can be slippery near the shore.
The sunsets here can be incredible, as can be star gazing as there are no city lights, and the occasional meteor shower.
The water conditions vary from it being so still the surface is like a mirror, to high winds causing whitecaps. The longer you stay, the better the chance of good water conditions, but on average during this past summer, 35% to 40% of days would be considered "gusty". Weller's Bay itself is very clean and great for swimming. It is also known for it's fishing, including ice fishing during the winter, with pike and bass being commonly caught fish.
Once you enter the guesthouse, you will see a variety of outdoor games on some shelves, including croquette, badminton rackets, frisbees, basketballs (there is a hoop in the driveway), volleyball, soccerball. When you go up the stairs, you will see a beautiful view of Weller's Bay through large windows looking onto the deck. On the deck is a BBQ, and patio set with 4 chairs and an umbrella. There is also an awning that can be rolled down for enjoying the deck on rainy days as well as scortching summer days as long as it is not gusty.
The bathroom includes a shower and complimentary body soap, shampoo and conditioner. All towels and linens are provided. The bedroom is "cozy" with a nice view of the trees and garden below, and offers a variety of bed covers including a weighted blanket. There is a "galaxy" laser projector and night lights for reading.
You will find books and a variety of games in the living room. The sofa is fold down and there is a memory foam to use as a topper for a large double for extra sleeping. This allows for up to 4 people to sleep, though the sofa bed might be tight with 2 larger adults. Several blow up mattresses are also available.
The full kitchen includes a full sized fridge with freezer, a large two level toaster oven, a microwave, percolating coffee maker, hot water pot, and complimentary coffee, tea, hot chocolate, sugar, cream, bottled water, salt, pepper, and cooking oil. All utensils, cups, glasses, plates, bowls, cooking pots and pans are all provided.
Free wi-fi is available. Some people comment how good it is for the country, but it can also be quite slow at times, especially long weekends in the summer. There is hardwiring right to my house for high speed Fib through Rogers just waiting to be hooked up, but Rogers plans to hardwire the entire County before hooking up individual houses, which I hope will be soon, but don't yet have a date.
The night lighting in the yard and garden can give a "magical" feeling, especially when the moon reflects of Weller's Bay. Across the Bay is a spit of sand only accessible by boat, so it feels much less crowded than the public beaches, and you can set up on the beach on Lake Ontario side as well. It is reachable by kayak or canoe, although more for experienced paddlers given some distance.
I provide a park pass for free parking at all provincial parks. Sandbanks is about 40 min. away and North Beach is 15 minutes away, both quite popular. Also very closeby is the Millenium Trail which extends for 40 km to Picton and is nicely groomed for hiking and bike riding. It is also used by skidoos in the winter. I also have a privately owned acreage where I have carved out trails through forest and field for hiking and letting your dog off leash. This is a pet friendly guest house, but I ask that dogs be well behaved, house trained and ideally low shedding.
The County is popular not just for it's beaches, but for it's wineries, wine tours, cuisine, and the arts. There are several waterfront patio restaurants nearby in Picton, Brighton, Belleville, and Trenton. Popular nearby restaurants include Itialian cuisine, a steakhouse, Greek, excellent pizza and burgers, sushi, prime rib, and some nearby popular breakfast spots. Walmart is 15 minutes away, as are several butcher shops and a deli.

An absolutely beautiful oasis.excellent A/C for those hot evenings and an amazing view from the balcony. Eric
The essence of Airbnb is hosting, and it doesn't get any better than Paul.Paul is an amazing host, always available, accommodating, super considerate. The place is a hidden gem! Outdoors, where the beauty lies, there is a HUGE backyard with decks on the water. Other homes and backyards are nearby, but it sure feels very private.. Paul is generous enough to provide firewood. There is a tree swing, a porch swing and recliners for you to relax/read and take it all in. There is a canoe, kayak and paddle board to excurse in the calm lake waters. if you are adventurous, you may paddle across the lake and hit private sand dunes/beaches - amazing spot to see a sunrise!
Indoors, the space is immaculately clean! There is a bedroom with comfy double bed and a sofa bed in the living room. The washroom is modern with a hot shower. The kitchen is stoked with almost everything you need to cook/BBQ. Just bring food and don't forget cooking oil/butter. There's salt, pepper, tea, coffee, drip coffee machine, milk, cream, sugar ... !
We had an amazing time at Paul's place. Will definitely come back again in future.
