Ford House - Meredith Lodging

Need a simple, private, ocean-rich stay at the beach? Ford House is a cozy, rustic oceanfront home on a wooded hillside, with a deck that juts out like the prow of a ship overlooking the sea and the sandy beach south of Waldport. Even from the paneled living room, with its comfy seating, wood fireplace and TV/DVD/VCR, you can hear the continuous roar of the surf. The dining area and compact kitchen work well for quick meals; you may want to rely on the many wonderful restaurants in Waldport and Yachats for more elaborate dining (Waldport’s delicious Hilltop Bistro is close by). Three bedrooms and one bath make it easy to invite friends or family to join you. A wooded pathway to the beach runs down a ravine right next to Ford House, so you’re minutes away from the sand; if you prefer a less challenging access, a State Recreation Site is three minutes away by car. Catch a relaxing stay at Ford House and enjoy this classic Oregon beach cottage by the sea!

Beautiful location! Beautiful views and deck. Nice and convenient walk to the beach. Well stocked and comfortable. The only reason I gave a 4 instead of 5 is that cabinets needed new doors because they had been painted and there were big patches where paint was chipping off and decor was dated. Couch had a bit of a bad smell. Overall, we really enjoyed the place.

Beautiful views

The views from the main room and deck are what makes this place special. It’s small so maybe not ideal for a longer stay or active kids, but it was perfect for a fall overnight.

Sweet little beach cottage

We had a wonderful reunion at this place. It was very comfortable and clean and had a beautiful deck with an amazing view of the ocean. I would definitely recommend it as a place to stay.

This was a trip with my parents to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. The location was perfect - stunning views and a short walk down to the beach.

Beautiful view and beach location

The location with ocean view and easy beach access makes this a perfect vacation home! While this is a very small and older beach house, the new deck, comfortable beds and new wood stove are a plus!

Gorgeous Weather!

The weather was amazing while we were there, so we were able to make full use of the deck, our favorite part of the house. The views are great, gorgeous sunsets, and the deck chairs were comfortable! The house is in a convenient location, with good sightseeing and restaurants convenient. We love the Oregon coast and will definitely visit again.

Overall, we were very happy with our stay. The location was great and the place was very clean. The instruction on how to get down to the beach were spot on and easy to follow. We had an issue with the microwave so we communicated that to management. No one ever came to fix it. Other than that, we had a great time and we would come back.

House was older and styled as such, but comfy and a beautiful view of the ocean. came in and it was clean and well kept. pictures show it in little nicer then it actually is but still well kept.

Best Weekend ever

The location, peace, and comfort were my top three best reasons! This house is very dated. But I’m more about the experience than anything and I don’t need much to enjoy modern space…. I LOVED IT!!!i stayed warm, I had water,perfect!! outlets

A solid meh, amazing views

The views were amazing, the walk to the beach was nice! But the kitchen items need updating. We got a vrbo to cook and hang out at the house but we ended up having to go buy pots pans because the pans were flaking black stuff off. We also pulled out three different bowls and two plates that were dirty. Other than that the house was nice.

Great views from funky old cabin

You're paying for the view at this is 1960s cabin. It is an old place with tiny rooms. The windows in the living room don't open so it gets pretty hot on sunny days and smelled a bit funky. There is a nice deck, but it looks down onto the neighbor's deck and their dog barked at us anytime we went out there. It is an easy walk to the beach.

Fantastic location. Pictures in listing do not accurately reflect the house. It was cozy and the proximity to the beach and river was great. We loved using the wood stove. The house needs a good deep clean, spider webs, dead bugs in windows, crumbs in drawers etc. Many small maintenance details that property management company should give attention too. Sheets and towels with stains, chipping paint, moldy caulking in bathroom. The house itself is rustic and cozy. I think the property management company needs to give this property some love. Also Meredith Lodging denied my request to change our booking less than 24hrs after we mande it. No exceptions were allowed. Seems like they should hold themselves to the same standards they hold their guests to. Will avoid renting houses they host in the future as this isn't the first house we've stayed in hosted by them with lackluster cleanliness.

Great location to the beach!

The highlight was sitting outside on the great deck and chairs watching the ocean and the close proximity to the beach. The view from the eating table was stunning. The inisde of the small property was old and worn out. The kitchen was dilapidated, the bathroom was old, and the 3 bedrooms are tiny. The bed we slept in was very comfortable and there were plenty of towels and extra pillows. Overall it was clean, but it was old. There is a washer and dryer in one of the bedrooms that was not listed so that was a helpful plus. Property managemenr company was responsive.

Great views and access

This was a lovely lovely place. The house is a bit dated and rustic but who cares? You’re paying for the views, access to beach, and all the loveliness that is PNW. Random but if you care: It’s a small kitchen but they had great cast iron pans, unscuffed nonstick pans, and all the things you need to have a running kitchen. We didn’t eat out so this was clutch. Not a deal breaker but UGH- the beds are weird and felt like it made us into tacos. Some of our family didn’t care but my back hurts but I’m old- I don’t like soft beds. In town, Ray’s is an awesome little supermarket. This is a great little spot. If there are neighbors there’s a house on the left. Generally, it wasn’t a big deal. Love this little place. Perfect views, quick beach access, lovely aerial displays by turkey vultures, and bald eagles, and little creatures everywhere.

The location is great, beach access is close and down a short gorgeous path. The cabin is small rustic- but that is as expected from pictures. View from main room and deck is perfect. The problem: the beds. This issue has been posted in other reviews. I can’t emphasize how bad they are. The queen mattress is blown out, tacos with two adults. The second night I slept on the bottom bunk, which was akin to sleeping on the floor. Pillows and bedding were pretty terrible also. We paid 859 dollars (after taxes and fees) for 2 nights. This place really should not rented until mattresses, bedding and pillows are replaced. Additionally, windows in main room don’t open so only ventilation is if you leave front door open. Pretty toasty on warm August day. No fans and host agency was “out of fans to loan,” when we called and requested one.

The place was a perfect small charming cottage on the ocean the fatal flaw was that the bedding was horrible. It was my wife’s 65 th birthday and we were having a wonderful time the when we went to bed the mattress was completely shot. We would roll into each other because there was a big void in the mattress. I’m not exaggerating the property should not be rented you can’t sleep with your loved one and if they had known about this really bad that they rented it out. We ended up having to sleep separately because the only other bed were full size and little bunk beds. I have informed the management and I pray that no one else deals with this. The property would get a 4 or 5 star rating otherwise

This place is NOTHING like the pictures!

We left within an hour to a hotel near by: We arrived to mold on all the walls and bathrooms they had mouse traps set up everywhere . There was a random refrigerator in the middle of the hallway , could not get a suitcase through. The mold smell was disgusting throughout the house . The patio was nice but you can’t sleep 5 people on the patio. The property manager did not care about complaints and blamed the entire on us being picky. If anyone wants pictures I’d be happy to send them over.

We do take your feedback seriously, and had our team do a walk-through after you vacated the home to ensure our standards for safety and cleanliness are being met. t did appear the home had been slept in, and no mold nor mice were detected. We have been working with VRBO per your complaints, and will await their decision upon review.
