The perfect place to rest up and laze around - Lazy S

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was by far one of the nicest rentals I've stayed in. Beds, linens, dishes - everything was in excellent condition and very comfortable. We loved spending our days hiking, then relaxing in front of the fireplace on the reclining (!!) couch. The screened in porch was lovely during a few rain showers, and on sunny days we enjoyed sitting on the deck and looking out into the woods. Another nice feature is that there is a small path in the back that leads down to a bench by the creek. We didn't have a dog with us, but this is definitely a dog-friendly property. But even for two people with no pets, this was an unparalleled stay! Best of Canaan is wonderful to work with, they are the only people we rent from in the Canaan Valley, always responsive and always knowledgeable.

Enjoyed our stay at Lazy S

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our second time at Lazy S. We like this dog friendly property because of the fenced yard and the location. Located at the back of the Timberline community, it is very private and backs to the Wildlife Refuge. We were fortunate to have beautiful weather in early June and enjoyed outings to Blackwater Falls SP, Dolly Sods, and Canaan Valley SP. Don't miss the great ice cream at the Ice Cream Shop in Davis.

Just what we needed

This year has been rough for us and the down time that came with the rainy weather was just what we needed. Lazy S is a beautiful spot to just enjoy some solitude. It is nice to not hear sirens all night, or blasting music. We love being back in the trees.

Beautiful. well stocked cabin

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Cabin was clean and beautiful. The Kitchen was fully stocked with lots of extras. It was nice to have 4 bathrooms and everything on one floor. The fenced in yard was perfect. Only issue was beds were a bit firm and high (which is not good for doggies) They did have stairs that weren't quite high enough and a ramp that was usable but broken in one spot, but couldn't get dog to be comfortable using it. Overall probably the nicest place we have stayed so far. Spruce Island and Sand Run lakes are beautiful and very nice to be in a safe gated community.

Superb location

I appreciate the owner’s willingness to let us stay for such a long visit.The location felt like we were in our very own secluded home. It was surrounded by a wooded area on all four corners of the house! We had miles of trails surrounding us, which we took advantage of! At the end of a short road, there was a small lake that had a trail around it, as well.The rental had every amenity anyone could ever need! The kitchen did not need a single item for cooking! The beds were extremely comfortable, and were perfect for the six of us. When any assistance was needed, the management company had employees that were very helpful. I would definitely recommend a visit to this very special place. Thanks for the opportunity! Gayle S

Much needed rest

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have stayed here previously and liked it so much we booked it again when we were checking out. The staff at Best of Canaan take great care of you. This house is well appointed, the beds are so comfortable and the pillows are too, so much so my husband wants to buy the same pillow for home. The kitchen has everything thing you need. It is tucked in the trees next to the conservancy and it is very quiet. The house also has AC, which many do not, so you would be cool even if it is very warm out. We will definitely stay here again.

Peaceful Location

My husband, dog and I spent 4 nights at the Lazy S and had a wonderful time. The weather was rainy when we arrived and then it snowed the day before we left. The house had everything we needed to be comfortable and it was at the back side of Old Timberline so there was very little car traffic. I could walk our dog in any direction and have a great walk—we loved the fenced in yard. We closed off two bedrooms and their baths and there was more than enough space for us with the living area and master. We briefly used the screened in porch, had it been warmer we would have taken advantage of it. I’m so glad I chose Lazy S for our vacation.

It's in a perfect location, secluded and private, yet close to some incredible outdoor adventures. The home is appointed very nicely, beds are very comfortable, truly a "home away from home". The fenced yard is a great bonus for those of us traveling with pets. I fell asleep numerous times, sitting on the front porch in the rocking chairs. So peaceful and quiet. Great for the soul. I would and have recommended this house to others. You can't go wrong staying at the Lazy S.

House is not huge but the layout with MBR and bath on one side and the other bedrooms/bathrooms on the opposite side was nice for our group. Furniture was comfortable. Water pressure in showers was great. Paper towels, dish soap, bar soap, etc. was all provided. Also dig crates and fishing gear that we did not use. Location at the back of Old Timberline was nice - secluded, right next to Wildlife Refuge trailhead and close to Sand Run Lake. Fenced yard was the best feature as we had a dog with us. We will most likely return!

The Lazy S was absolutely beautiful!

We loved everything about this property! It offered a nice amount of privacy and was close to Canaan Valley and Blackwater's Falls State Parks..Seneca Rocks and Dolly Sods weren't too far away either. They thought of everything as far as supplies and utensils! We had the use of two dog crates and they even left out food and water for our puppy! The appliances were awesome! I loved the oven and toaster. The fenced in front yard and the run for the dog 🐕 was fantastic. The home was tastefully decorated and well thought out. The beds were comfortable and the couch had a recliner in each end. We had a TV go on the fritz and they replaced it within a couple of hours! Very responsive team! I would gladly stay here again. We had a very memorable stay at the Lazy S! My 10 year old said she'd be happy to bring her kids here in the future!
