DG Lodge

This lodge is a large two story Black Hills Vacation Home situated on the back side of beautiful Lake Park Campground and Cottages. Three queen beds and two twin beds in four bedrooms sleep up to 8 people. A Futon sleeper in the family room brings total occupancy up to 10. Three full bathrooms means nobody has to wait. Nice two car garage and off street parking.
Cougar Lodge gets its name from the large amount of wildlife in the area. You can watch the deer meander by while your family enjoy barbequing on your own gas grill.
The property connects to Lake Park Campground and Canyon Lake where you can enjoy fishing, take a paddle boat to explore the lake, or start a bike ride on the 8 mile paved trail passing 2 Golf Courses - it is truly wonderful place to make memories. The lodge offers something for everyone, from a cozy reading nook to the grassy lawn for outdoor games.
Like all of our cottages it is smoke free and pet free.

We had a great stay at Cougar Lodge! The property was very clean and comfortable. The location was great for all the activities we had planned and was a quick trip to downtown and to the grocery store.

Rapid City rental

We loved this place and would stay again. We were coming in late on the day of check in but the manager called us to see how our trip up was going. He let us know just how to get our check in material and said to just swing sometime the next day to let them know we made it. That was really nice of them to do and really relieved me that we would be able to come in late without any problems. The rental house is roomy and comfortable. Close to a lake and walking trails. This is a perfect spot for a launch point to everything we wanted to see in the area. If we make it back to this area we would request this rental for sure.

Cougar Lodge

Cougar Lodge was perfect for us. My husband and I with our two married daughters and their husbands, and our other daughter all had a bedroom and with 3 restrooms we had plenty of restrooms. The location was great and allowed us to be about an hour plus or minus from Devil’s Tower, Deadwood, Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, Crazy Horse Memorial, Jewel Cave, Wind Cave, Badlands National Park, in addition to miniature golf and Bear Country nearby. Rapid City has easy access to groceries, gas, food and tourist attractions. Cougar Lodge was clean and had what we needed. Management was easy to work with. A gas grill is available on the deck. The only small negative was that the upstairs section only has two vents for AC and they aren’t in the bedrooms. The last day the temps got up to 80 and the upstairs bedrooms were pretty warm that night. They do provide a box fan for each bedroom. Neighborhood is nice and there is a walking trail nearby. We would stay again.

Hi Sam: We do appreciate you staying with us. I wish we would have known that you were not aware of the air conditioner upstairs. The upstairs has its own air conditioner that is controlled by the remote mounted in the upstairs living room. (Separate from the downstairs thermostat.) Scott

This place was absolutely the best--we spent three nights there and wished we had spent a week. Very clean and furnished like new! It was clear that this place was detailed to a high degree. We stayed at five different VRBOs on our trip and this place was by far the best!

Good - layout with 4 bedrooms, 3 full baths and separate sitting area upstairs. Excellent WIFI Bad - Kitchen had no salt, pepper, olive oil, aluminum foil or other basic items. No hair dryer or shampoo in any of the bathrooms. Very chintzy.

Pretty good, but some negatives

This house is in a good location by a lake and park with places to walk. It's convenient to the Black Hills. The house has a long, narrow living room with large pieces of furniture. The cramped kitchen is poorly laid out, and it's hard for more than one person at a time to be in the kitchen. There was not enough flatware to last one day, and we kept hand washing spoons and forks. There were plenty of cooking pots. The dining room table was too small; it barely seated 6 people. The AC worked well. Our downstairs bed was very soft and very high (thick mattress). The showerhead was good but it was placed low, causing difficulties for my tall spouse. There seemed to be plenty of hot water. We encountered several different bugs in the house; pest control treatment would be helpful. If we stayed in the area again, I would look for a different house.

Clean, Clean, Clean!!!

Wow! Pictures don't do this place justice! Extremely clean, super comfortable, very spacious, nice furniture... We sat on the covered front porch every morning with our coffee, loved every minute of our stay. Peaceful neighborhood. Layout was perfect for our 5 adults. We will definitely be renting this place again!!

Convenient location

This property is in a convenient location. Close to stores restaurants and attractions but yet still felt outside the city. We had deer visit every night. It is spacious for families or even multiple families. It has all the basics but no extras as some rentals do (basic spices, ice chests etc.)

Great Family Getaway

Look no further if you want a quaint and relaxing cottage to stay in. This property at Lake Park Campground and Cottages was wonderful. It fits all the needs for a large group or family. We were a family of 5 but it easily could fit 6 or 7. The kitchen comes equipped with everything you need as well as the bathrooms and bedrooms. There are outside sitting areas in both the front and backyard. As well as plenty of places to walk around the campsite. My children loved that they basically had the upstairs all to themselves. The owners are the most sweetest and kindest people I have ever met. They are very loving, accommodating, helpful, and personable. I highly recommend Lake Park Cottages for your traveling needs.

Overall decent stay

It was a decent stay. I liked that it was off a main road, but not at all noisy. The house and property were nice, but a bit antiquated. The carpet had spots where the pad was worn or removed. The towels, while especially welcomed for use, were a bit on the low end for quality. That's really the only two negatives I have.

Great location, quiet neighborhood

I could go on forever about this great property. Great location to visit the Badlands, Mt Rushmore, Custer State Park, various caves, and Sturgis. House was big enough to give my adult children their own private space. Very quiet neighborhood yet close to grocery store, Walmart, restaurants and mini golf (usually within 8-15 min). Lake in the neighborhood for fishing, paddle boats, also a walking trail.

Great rental house

This was a fantastic spot for our family to stay during our visit to the Black Hills. We had our kids plus other extended family which worked out great with the 4 bedrooms. The house was in a quiet neighborhood with easy access to many places. Check in and out was super easy, and the property management was very friendly and helpful. It was probably the cleanest VRBO I've ever stayed in too. I would definitely recommend this spot!
