We don’t normally respond to reviews but since someone just referenced this, we felt we should respond: Bottom line: This house was completely rebuilt in 2010 and was updated again in 2019 that recent updating included new paint and carpeting and we have moved to a new management company to help keep this house well maintained. So I think we probably covered the concerns this guest had. However, I felt it was appropriate to address this negative review. AC – This house does not have AC, that is true and very common in Lake Tahoe. Lake Tahoe very rarely gets hot enough to warrant AC and most people are happy to open the windows and enjoy the fresh mountain air. The average daily temperature in Tahoe from June 18 to September 17 is 73.8°F it’s very unusual to get the kind of heat wave this guest may have experienced. It’s very unusual to be hot enough to run AC. Hot Tub – We have weekly hot tub maintenance and always have. We also drain and refill the hot tub monthly and do a pre check-in treatment as well as make sure it’s clean for every guest. We have never had a complaint beyond this one. Carpets – This house has carpet cleaning done every few months and we replace the carpets every 4 years even if they look fine we would do this, because our kids have allergies.. It’s possible that the guest prior had left it a bit dirty, and our cleaning crew missed a few spots but the carpet at the time of this guest stay was about 3 years old and well maintained, it certainly would not look like it needed to be replaced. Linens – Again never received one complaint about this. I stay at this house with my family once a month and we use the same sheets / linens guest use and they have always been clean and fresh. They are changed after every guest and we purchase new ones when needed or yearly. Yard – In July during this persons stay the property would have wildflowers surrounding the entire property, this is something that took years and a lot of money to make happen, what this guest perceived as overgrown is mountain grasses and wildflowers – a very desirable look. Unlike many Tahoe houses we have sprinkler irrigation system and a landscape company (Tahoe Outdoor Living) that maintains the yard, our neighbors give us constant praise on the way our property looks. I can’t imagine what this guest is talking about when it comes to this. I have been a host and superhost since 2005, I take pride in the ownership of my houses and in the service I give as a host. I’m sorry that this guest had a bad experience, I’m very surprised by this review and as you can see from other reviews its unusual. Maybe there was a mistake where the house was not properly cleaned before this stay if that is the case I would be horrified and embarrassed and I would have certainly given the guest a discount and waived the cleaning fee. This guest did not contact us so I was unaware that there was an issue. I will make sure we continue to offer the best service as hosts and a property people enjoy visiting.
