Wonderful stay at excellent property. Very good location and amenities. Our host was very gracious and made the check in and out process was very easy. All in, a great experience.
Loved the property. However I was expecting a heated pool. Instead it was freezing and we were told we have to pay extra for that. So therefore it is false advertising. We decided we had paid plenty to not have to pay more so we didnât really get to enjoy the pool like I was expecting.
We loved our stay! We had everything we needed and more for our girls weekend. Joy has thought of everything and there were so many things in the house that made our stay wonderful, from the robes to the bar accessories. Everything was labeled and notes on how to use or navigate anything in the home. Easy check in and check out, this was the perfect home for our trip
The photos do not do this property justice. The home is gorgeous. Joy is an amazing host! She was very responsive to all my million inquiries. This home is perfect for friend and family gatherings. I would definitely recommend this rental property and host. 10 out of 10.
Joy was an amazing host. She went above and beyond to make sure my family was taken care of. She let us check in early, allowed our dog to stay and gave us a military discount. She communicated early and often. Property was as advertised and well maintained. Perfect transaction. Would highly recommend.
Our family enjoyed our week at River Retreat. On the positive side, the tech was sufficient for all our devises, the rooms were well laid out and clean, the kitchen was big enough for our family meals, and the dinning table fit all 11 of our crew. We loved the fire pit and pool as well. There were plenty of towels and supplies on hand. Our biggest let down was the river. Even with the July 4 floods, the river at the house was too low to float the dock and swim or fish. Lake Travis had come up 15 feet but the river was not flowing enough to mention. There were also 2 minor fixes that were not handled such as lighting in the primary bath and crepe myrtle flowers in the pool. When the up stair AC went out, the owner addressed it quickly and was able to fix it. No other problems occurred.
Perfect stay for our Memorial Day reunion trip for two families of college friends - 4 adults and 4 kids (all 9 and under). Really enjoyed the pool/spa and running around the large property. Plenty of options for inside gatherings across large living room and upstairs game room along with outside patio and fire pit.
We came down from Dallas for the Spartan race in Burnett. The house was perfectly located between Burnett and Austin. Great proximity to breweries like Frontyard Brewing. The house had everything we needed from pool towels, toiletries and kitchen spices/utensils. Directions were everywhere for how to operate all the house electronics. There are 2 fridges which was great when staying with a large group.
We stayed as a large group for a college reunion and 30th birthday trip. The space was perfect for our needs and so relaxing! The hosts had clear explanations of how to use anything in the house. Plenty of parking in the driveway, private space. Great amenities, good kitchen equipment, and washer/dryer. A large group will need to be okay sharing space--it was comfortable for our group of 10 adults, but more would've been cramped. The farmer's market next door was wonderful, and it was close to wineries, county parks, grocery, and restaurants if you have a car. Uber is readily available, but I would recommend having a car. The water access is limited due to low water levels and a very steep climb, but we didn't end up using it anyway because the pool was exactly what we needed :)
This home was perfect for our quick family getaway. Our group included 3 generations and there was something for everyone. The kids enjoyed the pool and game room while the adults enjoyed the home and scenic views while the kids were occupied. We also enjoyed the local distillery and local winery. We hope to visit again!
Very well stocked and exceptionally clean property! We had a mini family reunion and enjoyed the area and all the property had to offer. Joy answered all questions immediately and a pleasure to work with. AC worked great, even in the August heat!mâŠpool was great!
Maybe some people on the listings have different expectations of cleanliness, but to me the property did not seem clean. Most definitely would not describe this listing as luxury as we have stayed in so many luxury properties. If youâre looking to stay somewhere with tons of very personal touches, this property may be for you but for me, I preferably do not like all the clutter. We specifically booked this property for two evenings to be able to enjoy the water as it is listed as a waterfront property. To our disappointment there no water as the lake has dried up in that area And it is quite a mess down near the dock Not easily accessible. We ended up leaving the first night because it just did not fit our expectations and ended up paying for a night that we did not stay. When I did let them know about the water level And our dissatisfaction the response I received was that they charge twice the price when water level is up. Also, when I mentioned that the property was not as clean as we expected, the host suggested that she come over there and I show her what I did not like . Well, I understand this is a gesture of good faith This is not the confrontation I was looking for on vacation. In order for this listing to be accurate, I feel like they should make some updates to their description in order to prevent another issue like we had
The house is lovely. We had a fantastic time staying there. It was a great place to hang out with family and friends, and enjoy the pool and back yard and wait for the eclipse. A great vacation.
We loved our stay in Spicewood! The property is very large with plenty of room to play. Bedrooms & bathrooms were very spacious and the bed linens provided were comfortable (everyone commented on this!). The backyard and pool were amazing as well but at the time we were there, the lake/river where this house sits was dried up so we we not able to enjoy the lake activities as weâd hoped.
We built this home in 2001 to accommodate our growing family of 6. We have raised our children and made many wonderful memories in this home, pool, and on the beautiful Lake Travis. We now have the kids in college and are enjoying moving around a bit to visit the kids all over. We undated our home to accommodate the contemporary designs and share our slice of heaven.
